*-- RagnaroK--*
Why wont the panasonic gamecube be released in the UK? This is a real shame, we are missing out on loads :( (as usual). Anyway will it be able to play on japanese and american games, or just the one depending on the console? :box:
Break
What...? I thought that the Panasonic only played DVD's and music CD's..
Charles
Well, the Q was only a Japanese exlusive that wasn't released in excessive quantities anyway. Unfortnately, but obviously, it isn't capable of playing anything except for Japanese software. Basically, you aren't missing out on much if you already own a DVD or CD player. Nintendo won't be releasing any exclusive DVD format games for the Q. I gather it's kind of a collector's item.

Probably why it's a Japanese exclusive too..
kizu
Well, the Q does look pretty sharp. And you can use me as an example that you can get in other places than japan and have it work just fine (but i still need to geta mod chip so i can play dvds on it, lol). There isn't any point of getting in if you just wnat a gamecube because it cost 500 or so to get it modded so you can play games other than Japanese games. And with that 200 you can buy a dvd player, and dvd players can play cds so there you go. But it was a good buy for me because I got it for free (someone sent it to me as a Christmas present, pretty nice).
RicoTranzrig
The Q is also NTSC, which is incompatable with the UK's PAL TV's...

*-- RagnaroK--*
So does anyone here think it is actually worth buying for a good reason? besides having it as a collectors item!
Desbreko
Well, it might be a good deal if you live in Japan... But if you live anywhere else, it's cheaper to just get a normal GCN and a DVD player, instead of importing it, and then modding it... So no, I wouldn't say it's worth getting, because of all the trouble you have to go through to import and mod it. That, and you could spend the extra money on games and stuff.
Fall
I can't really see anyone buying the Q for a collector's item.... maybe if they made like 500 different Q's, then collectors might go for it.... but then it would be too expensive.... :drunk: Either way, I see the Q rather useless unless you live in Japan as mentioned before..... unless you want to spend a fortune on getting it modded... Break
It also depends whether you have a DVD player and a CD Player already. And the price as well, if it's really expensive, you might as well just stick with your DVD and CD players..
Gogeta-sama
if you search for it on ebay it says it is capable of playing all japanese and american gamecube games as well as CDs, and all formats of DVDs. i was going to sell my playstation2 to buy one since the PS2 doesnt play all DVDs no matter what sony says and i am even having some trouble playing some PSone games! freaken, sony sucks! anyway, if the Q doesnt do what it says i wont purchase it then. If you want to buy a Panasonic Q that can play all region DVDs and all region GCN software, you can buy one online from www.liksang.com (I've purchased from there before and they're VERY reliable). It's a small mod which costs barely anything. Well worth the purchase, regardless of where you live. :)
Desbreko
I think he meant that it would be about $500 all together. Like, after you import it, have it modded, and then add shipping costs... And on that site, it says it costs $499 with it already modded... If you aren't going to be playing games or CDs/DVDs from outside the country you live in, I think it'd still be better just to get a normal GCN and DVD player separately. Figure $200 for the GCN, and then maybe $150 for the DVD player, which adds up to $350 plus tax (this is for in the US, anyway). So yeah, if you're not going to be playing foreign games/CDs/DVDs, it's still not worth it. (At least not in the US, I don't know about other countries).
Red
You can get a Panasonic GC over here in the UK through import shops, mail order and over the net, although they are very pricey, as Nintendo/Panasonic did not intend for it to be released here.

Thanx anyway. The reason that i have posted this thread is because i want to gather enough information as i can on this console, i have my reasons why it cant be released, im just not sure about them, so im asking you. :)
