Thats right, Devil May Cry 2 is coming for PS2. Dante can now go on skyscrapers and looks down at the city. According to EGM, you should expect better detailed levels, and a second playable character, whom of which is a FEMALE.

I thought that the first Devil May Cry game was pretty good, and I can't wait for some more information on it.

I can't seem to find other sites with screen shots, stupid EGM site

I think capcom should improve the orb system in such a way that you don't just use them to buy stuff, but to "upgrade" dante himself, so to speak....

imagine to use a set amount of orbs to improve dante's legs, this would make him faster and will allow him to jump higher....

upgrade his legs even more, and he will be able to do multiple wall jumps, like in super metroid....

using orbs on dante's arms would make him faster and stronger in hand to hand combat, and perhaps allow him to punch through weaker walls within the game....

what does everyone think of this idea?

I like your idea Seph. It is cool, but dont forget that this level up format should last for the whole game, amd if the game is short, youll end up having a pretty crappy Dante for the final boss, although you can start again with all of your current stats (after completing the game that is), but I dont find it that more convincing than the first time round.

As for the AI in DMC, I sort of agree with Ragnarok and CWB. Yes it would suit the puppets to run away from you, but not to get emotional over the death of another puppet, I like the idea of tactics though :) .

You agreed with Ragnarok? I'm sorry, but that guy doesn't know anything, lol. ;)

Anyway, I've heard that the developers of the original Devil May Cry have realized that the first game could either be catagorized as too easy or too difficult. As a result, Devil May Cry 2's difficulty will adjust to how you play the game. Also, more attention is being paid to the Devil Trigger, skill fee, and combat maneuvers. Being able to run on the walls is going to be a blast. :toothy:

I really hope that they improve the enemy designs too though. Some of the enemies looked really cool, but the idea of fighting a legion of possessed marionette puppets is silly.

The game kinda resembled a 3D Megaman X game (if it existed)...maybe they can use some key elements off of the series.
Are you implying that DMC had a cast of baddies with low intelligence, a bunch of life-threatening puzzles that were completely moronic, and bosses that were all too easy to defeat and made singular, reaccouring mistakes? ;)

I guess you are. :p

In any case, I'm getting a PS2 soon, and I'll check out both games. And hopefully I'll be able to scrap enough money together later and renew my subscribtion to EGM (It expired in September...O_o;;; )

But ehhh... Lose the puzzles. Make the gameplay a bit harder, yet still fun. Keep unlimited ammo and ungradible parts. Raise enemy A.I. But for God's sake, do NOT make use have to push crates! UGH!

What...!? If there were no puzzles, then the game would be nothing....the gameplay is just hit and run with unlimmited ammo, like one of those one man army Rambo missions....:p . Id say that the puzzles hold this game together, and make it that much more challenging.

I agree with ProudClod.

Neil, you definitely don't have to be concerned with pushing crates. I'm certain that the original didn't contain any cheap crate pushing puzzles. For that reason, I'm sure that Devil May Cry 2 will not fall into such a trap.

The action is straight forward, with bosses relying on simple patterns. Combat is mainly there just to "look cool." So, in the sequal, puzzles and exploration will definitely play a big part in holding the gameplay together.

Ok guys, I just recieved the latest edition of the official playstation 2 magazine, which includes the lo-down of Devil Never Cry. It is claimed to be 30 percent complete so far, and already is looking good.

As CWB said before, there will be the outside environment, high buildings and skyscrapers, also a nice little towny sort of place.

Dantes attire has changed, but very little, now wearing a red jacket with nothing underneath, it seems to be cooler than the previous one, and more revealing , Id say that he looks more casual and experienced in this form.

As we have all been wishing for, we will be seeing some brand new attacks and abilities for the devil trigger, no news on specifically what though.

Finally, Takanna, the producer of DMC2, has made an announcement that there will be a new playable character, very little has been said, but we will definately see a new face of a female, which is not Trish!!! The likes of DMC2s character system has been compared to RE:2, where there were two scenarios for each character.

Apparently nothing has been said about the lifespan of the game, and from the screen shots Ive seen, the gameplay looks the same. Some cool new enemies up though. :)
