can anyone tell me where on inal Fantasy VIII can i find a weapon for Zell? ive looked everywhere up until the bit i am on (which is the bit after the ship lands in the water where rinoa wants a tour of garden) i really want to give zell a weapon because he is basically rubbish with just his fists. and can anyone tell me what the hell is the point of Angelo he dosn't do anything.

There should be plenty of places w here you can give Zell a weapon, anywhere that you can give other people weapons, in fact. However, you do usually need a few items to get them. Also, all of Zel's weapons involve him using his fists, so there's no way out of that.
Angelo does do the odd attack now and then, but it's pretty much random, and you have to teach him to do things ..

You don't really buy new weapons (unfortunately), but instead you upgrade them. To do that you need to find the weapons magazines lying around the game, like "Weapons monthly March" or something. Each one has certain upgrades for certain characters. Then you have to find the right items and go to a customization shop and they'll upgrade it for you.
For Angelo you need to learn new limit breaks for Rinoa, you can do this by finding/buying the magazine "Pet Pals 1", or 2, 3, etc. Each time u do this you can learn a new skill, go to the menu and status and into the submenus until you get to angelo's skills. There you can select a skill to learn. Each skill starts empty and fills up w/ red as you "Walk" angelo (meaning you walk around w/ Rinoa in your party). When you've learned a new skill you'll hear a chime and you can go learn something new. Some of angelo's attacks like angelo search suck, but wishing star is extremely powerful, and angelo recover can come in handy.
