The Harlequin
Davien sent a spinning blow at the ankles, causing Setsuna to leap above him. As he reached the apex of his flight, Davien rose and spun away, brining his twin viper around so that it crashed into Setsuna's side, spinning him along with Davien. Even as he flew through the air though, Setsuna stabilised himself, rolling to his feet and kicking the advancing Davien in the face. Davien too leaps to his feet, drawing his pistol crossbow and firing off three quick shots. The others rush the distracted Setsuna, with Davien aiming for another few shots.
Kinetic
Setsuna dodged the arrows, but could not dodge the blows of the blades attacking him. He was slashed a few times before Kain got to him, and then he rolled through the crowd. He stood up, and the wounds healed. Kain slashed at him, yet hit nothing but air. Setsuna: I told you, you cannot attack me like that. With that, the light shot from his hands yet again. It his Kain dead on, yet it did not move him. Kain had an aura of light around him, and the rain suddenly stopped. The sky cleared up and there was an immense wind, knocking everyone to their feet. Setsuna, Davien and Kain stood up, and started fighting yet again.
The Harlequin
Now aware that his crossbow is useless against an enemy like Setsuna, Davien rushes in, his twin viper again tracing the air around him. In a series of attacks that closely resemble a cycle of blades mixed with martial arts, Davien ends up with staff snapped in two. Setsuna advances, but Davien throws them into the air, spinning them sharply, while performing a high kick between them, pushing Setsuna back. Catching the two pieces, which fractured evenly, creating basically two jo staves, Davien advances on Setsuna again, this time using his weapons as swords, with a longer handle. Davien: Dodge this. (OOC: Sorry, couldn't resist) Davien snaps off two increbily fast attacks, one high, one low, yet still manages to hit nothing. As Setsuna appears behind him, Davien is warned by some instinct, and instead of turning, backflips, and slices down, tracing two lines of red down Setsuna's back. He steps back, waiting for Setsuna to attack again. Davien: Good fight.
Kinetic
Setsuna: Not yet A devilish grin on his face. The earth starts to rise from underneath him, and out flows a black mist. The mist forms into shapless beings...spectres. They merge with Setsuna, giving him a black aura. Setsuna rises into the air, not flying with his wings, but levitating. Davien jumps into the air, stabbing Setsuna, and ripping down his body. Setsuna lowers back to the ground, his wounds sealing back together. Davien: Who are you?! Setsuna: The apocolypse! A look of horror comes upon Kain's face as the sky swirls black and red. Lightning crashed right next to them, the others were revived. Setsuna rose into the air, a few feet above the ground, floating into a vortex. Setsuna: Come, if you cherish your lives.
The Harlequin
Laughing insanely, Davien leapt and spun, his right leg coming up in a spinning crescent, which missed. As he was turned fully around, Davien stabbed back, again missing. Landing, he spins, jo staves held like daggers, with his eyes narrowed. Davien: Well, if you want to be that way about it... Davien's visage darkens, taken on a supernatural cast. From behind him, Anathema gasps. Anathema: I thought you were human! Davien: I am. Remember how I mentioned some blood transfusions a while back? Not all of them were human... With an almost demonic cast set upon his features, Davien's biology warps, setting him humming with energy. Twisted appendages emerge from his back, transforming into bat-like wings. Davien: How quickly the stakes change when you dice with death.
Kinetic
Seeing this, Setsuna closed the portal. Setsuna: Alright, if you wish to die on this planet, so be it. Even if you kill me, this planet will become a dessert of nothingness within minutes...you should have come through the portal, that way, you could have died there. Davien: You have such a large ego, I could have already killed you three times. Setsuna: Is that so? The green light sword shot out from Setsuna into his hand. Setsuna: Let me...test your abilities. With that, Davien leaped at Setsuna, he struck at Setsuna with his twin-viper, but it was knocked away by the energy eminating from Setsuna's sword. Setsuna: No steal could match up to the power of energy! Davien: Than we shall be alike. Black light shot from Davien's hand, forming the shape of a blade. They fought on, ravagely, unweary that the planet would corrupt within minutes. Every moment, they had a knew wound that healed up immediately. Setsuna: Is that the best you can give me? In a battle of this calibur, no one will die. Kain jumped in as Davien leaped at Setsuna. A second sword of green light shot from Setsuna's other hand. Setsuna: Two on two, fair, isn't it. The hatred in Kain and Davien's eyes was unfathomable. They attacked so visciously, with so much anger. They all three rose up into the air. It was happening. The ground was tearing apart. Within moment, they would all be gone.
The Harlequin
After several fruitless attacks, Davien materialised another sword. Armed with twin scimitars of emanating black light, he spun his familiar attack patterns at Setsuna. As they battled, Davien realised what was happening. They were drawing their energy right out of the earth. Realising this, he smiled grimly. He knew how to win. Channeling the energy he was drawing out of himself and into Setsuna, he was momentarily off balance as Setsuna used the fresh energy to attack furiously. Only Davien's incredible natural speed and the presence of Kain saved him. As Davien continued to channel energy into Setsuna, Setsuna seemed to realise what was happening, as he tried to divert the flow. But it was too late. The amazing amount of energy in the area shimmered in the air for a moment, before dispersing in a shattering explosion that left them all on the verge on death. On the other hand, it also returned the earth to the state it was before the fight, with no sign that anything had happened. After a few hours, some scared villagers ventured out to find the field littered ith bodies, all alive. With strange generousity, they take them back to the village. The first to wake is Setsuna, who immediately leaves, killing all who stand in his way. The other awake later, all at similar times. Kain: What happened? Davien: I overloaded his energy flow. Anathema: And what are you? Davien: Well, I'm not demonic, I'm vampyric, but I'm not strictly speaking human. More like an amalgamation of some of the more powerful elements of the three. Basically, I'm an experiment. Kain: That explains a lot. But what happened to Setsuna?
Kinetic
Setsuna: I'm right here. Kain: Setsuna! Setsuna: Do not worry, I don't attack the weak while they are healing. However, I will return for one final battle. To settle this once and for all...brothers With that, Setsuna disappeared behind his wings. Davien: D*mnit! I was so close! Kain: Rest now Davien, we have a great battle ahead of us. Daven: Yes...and then I shall defeat him...no...not only defeat him, I will slaughter him! Davien started laughing maniacally. The Harlequin
OOC: Ahem, shinobi is an ancient Japanese ninja sect... Davien retreats to his room, meditating on his fight with Setsuna. Had it been such a good idea to reveal himself? Surely, the explanation given would have allayed some fears, but he as sure at least some of them would have seen thought what appeared to him a such a pitiful excuse. He remembered why he took his mortal guise, and was not reassured. A demon escaped from the pits of hell, a tormented being in search of water to quench the conflagration in his soul. He'd never found it. Nothing physical can soothe an invisible, ethereal fire. Nothing more had mattered. Death, meant nothing. Yet, Davien still had a purpose. Give him a while and he might even remember what is was... Davien was interrupted from his melancholy musing by the sound of someone running their hands along the wall as they walked. Not wishing to explain himself this night, he gets up to bolt the door.

Ravenstorture
OOC: I will be treating Shinobi mountain and it's occupants to be of oriental origin, if anyone objects, just ignore it, it just makes things easier for me. Alastuin walked slowly along the hallway, her bare feet padding gently on the tatami matted floor. She stopped to examine a section of the wall, seemed to be constructed of ricepaper over a wooden frame, rather asthetcally pleasing. She reached out and touched the fragile wall, energy from the fight still humming through her and causing her fingers to tremble slightly. She continued slowly down the hallway, raking her fingernails lightly over the shoji and feeling the relief of the paper grain and the rhythmic pressure of the wooden supports run under her thin figers as she walked along. Passing a window, Alastuin stopped to admire the view from the mountain across a valley speckled with villages netted together with roads, thin, spidery scars across the green and jagged landscape. A sound awakened her from her trance and she glanced to her left, along the hallway. A shadow slid along the shoji and dissapeared. Calling out, "Who's there?" she waits, and her call was replies with the sound of a bolt clicking into place. Highly incenced, she turns to walk back down the hall. The Harlequin
OOC: Sorry, going into first person here. Why did they persist? They didn't care. None of them did. No one ever has, no one ever will. Why does she really want to know? It doesn't matter. She knows that it won't affect her. She doesn't have to live with all this. None of them do. Except maybe Kain. But he is at peace. Yet I am merely a quivering mass of nerves, faling again. Falling into that hole I call my soul. I don't have a soul anymore, not anymore. No, don't do that. Don't get close to me. Don't get to know me. No, don't touch me. Don't ever touch me. Kill me, beat me, speak with me, don't ever touch me, don't ever know me. Don't ever make me kill you in self defense. I know you all too well. All of you are put in danger through me. They hunt me. Other's do not see. But I see very well. The whisper on street corners, they hide in caves and pursue me. They come. THEY COME! I will not escape this time. They come. No! I didn't mean it! I didn't want this. NONONONONONONONONONO! It wasn't me, don't touch me, please, not again, don't do it again. No. You can't, of god don't. Not again, not again. I fall so far. How did I get like this? Why did they do this to me? Ravenstorture
Alastuin turns to walk away but she hears a dull thud and turns once more to the doorway. The light inside is extinguished and she hears gasping, and mumbled words. Concerned, she calls again, but there is no answer. Waiting, a shriek suddenly pierces the air and she jumps, wondering what to do. Using a sharp fingernail to cut a slit in the ricepaper on the edge of the shoji, she reaches through without damaging the paper and sldes the wooden bolt holding the door in place across. She puls her hand back through and slides the door across, revealing Davien sitting crouched in the corner of the room, shaking convulsivly and rocking back and forth, holding himself. She closes the door behing her and rushes forward, but as she reaches out to him he shrieks again and whispers for her to stay away. She sees that he is drenched in sweat and his pupils are horribly dilated, and she recoils in shock. Alastuin: Are you alright? Davien: goawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoaway... Alastuin: I'm not going to hurt you, it's ok... She reaches forward again slowly and touches his shoulder, shocked by how cold his skin feels in comparison to the warm night air around them. Shaking herself, Alastuin takes a square of cloth from her pocket and wipes the sweat from his eyes, before holding him tightly and rocking him back and forth gently, keeping silent. As soon as he stops shaking violently, she helps him to the bed and lies him down before sitting beside the bed and looking at him, concerned about what had happened. Why was he like this? He was one of the best fighters of the group, a warrior such as this would not get battle shock or the like... I wonder if it is linked to his past? Waiting until he was asleep, Alastuin stood and walked out of the small room, still dizzy from the night's events.

You can't scare me with the dark. Not the light, the painful, cold harsh light. Don't send me out there again. No... Ravenstorture
Alastuin awakes to find the sunlight streaming in though her open window, accented by a stream of cherryblossom petals pushed by the warm breeze. Any other person would find it beautiful, but it was far to bright for her. She stood, dressed herself and stretched before walking outside to admire the oriental style gardens and meditate quietly. Walking over a bridge gracing a small stream bubbling with feng shui, Alastuin found a small tea room. The Harlequin
Davien awakens to a hard, cold dawn, another reminder of the harsh furnace this world really was. Sighing, he walks over and throws the bolt back, listening a long moment before moving outside. Walking silently through the garden, he hears voices from above him, on one of the terraces. Listening, he realises that it they come from Kain and Anathema, and that the subject is him. Feeling guilty, not at eavesdropping but at causing concern to his companions, he vaults up to them. Davien: My apologies for causing concern to any of you. I am fine, my feelings are nothing I have not dealt with or buried before. Anathema: Are you alright now? Davien: Yes. Anathema: Do you even know how bad you were last night? Davien: I'm not certain, but I have a fairly good idea. I tend not to remember such experiences afterwards. Anathema: Is it safe to talk about what brought it on? What it was about? Davien: Sometimes. It mainly depends on how many people are around. I can deal with people one on one, but numbers trigger an adverse reaction when I'm talking about my past. Davien's face takes on a look of ancient, distant pain, and he takes a long breath before continuing. Davien: But I'll answer anything anyone wants to know at some point.

I might go and arrange breakfast, or wake them up, or something. We might have to move soon. Kain walks inside, leaving Anathema and Davien alone. Anathema: I was worried about you last night. Sorry about breaking in. Davien: You broke in? I didn't see any evidence of ... oh. I don't remember you doing that. Anathema: I was walking past, and I heard you shriek. I broke in and you were shaking, and freezing cold, and hysterical... I lay you on your bed and waited until you got slightly better before leaving. But I was scared. Davien: Sorry. Anathema: Why are you apologising? I'm sure you weren't doing it on purpose... Davien: I wasn't. There is a short silence as they look out over the valley. Anathema: Tell me. The Harlequin
Davien sighs, and shakes once. Fearing a relapse, Alasruin rises out of her seat slightly in alarm, but is waved off. Davien: I'm alright. Everything then. Where to start. God, it's been a while since I told anyone all this. Alastuin: How long? Davien: About... actually, I've never related my past before. I've never known anyone to care. Alastuin: Are you sure you're alright with telling it? Davien: Positive. Davine closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, before speaking. Davien: Hearken ye all, to tales of The Burning Pits, tales of Ye Powers Of Darknesse, and beyond. Alastuin: That isn't going to last is it? Davien: You mean the accent? No that will stop now. Anyway. I was created at the whim of one of the demon lords in the Seventh Circle. He wanted a servant, someone which to place in the arena, a gladiator. Disdaining the hulking brutes most nobles employed, he created me, a creature of speed and agility. He refined me as much as possible, making me as good as he wanted. He made me not only fast, but intelligent. He believed that cunning, speed and skill were more important that brute strength. He was right. I qiuckly dominated the competitions, winning him the dark gambles they played for. Eventually, he tired of me, wishing to create something even stronger. In a blind rage, I attacked him. It proved my undoing. He made me powerful, I destroyed him. His servants, lesser demons such as myself, poured in. However, instead of rejoicing in their liberation, they captured me, and put me to trial. They subjected me to every torment you could imagine, and hundreds I pray you never do. I will not darken the skies with the stories of them here. Let it suffice that physically and emotionally, I was left mortally scarred. I grew to hate the light. It meant they were coming. They were coming. Their cruel eyes, their supernatural tortures. Yet they could not break me. No matter what they tried, no matter the creatures of darkness that they left me to, I survived. They bound me hand and foot, and tossed me into pits filled with creatures unimaginable, yet I survived. I don't know how or why. Eventually, I could take no more. They could not kill me, but they drove me insane. I spent centuries chained to a wall, ravening, as they continued their defiling arts upon me. I retreated from my physical body. I came only to reside in my twisted soul. My body ceased to function. Perhaps I was dead, I don't know. They thought I was. They dumped me in this realm, to be disposed of. I awoke some days later, being prodded by the blade of some warrior. He sliced me open, leaving me in agony for days more until I healed. The first few years were the worst. Before I learned how to disguise myself. I could not come within a mile of anyone without being attacked. Even vampyres shunned me, fearing me. I found no succor in isolation. Wild things, all animals avoided me, leaving a barren, dead aura around me. Again, I retreated into my mind, leaving my physical self to exposure. I didn't die though. I came back, after months of contemplation. I had realised how to hide myself as a human. I did so. I have nothing now. No purpose, aside from passing interests. Davien sighs again and collapses in his chair, as if telling the story drained him. Alastuin: That any such suffering should happen to any being is beyond forgiveness. Davien: I didn't tell you half of it. That as merely the basic overview. But make no mistake, everything that happened to me, I fully deserved. Alastuin: How can you say that! Davien: When I fought in Hell's arena, for the entertainment of others, I slaughtered countless innocents abducted from the mortal realm. I had so much blood on my hands that my inflictions were to me more a penance than a torture. So, tell me. Who are you?
