OOC: I've been to busy to post recently, and since my character hasn't been mentioned for ages, I'll just put him with the 'rest of the group'.

Terran stands up as Kain rushes in, knowing something is wrong.

Kain: Everyone, move. Vampires.

No more needed to be said. The group leaps to their feet and follows Kain through the back door to the courtyard. Terran goes out front to notify Davien and Anathema.

Terran: We must hurry, this is most likely the largest vampire host yet. Setsuna wants to en...

Davien grabs a dart from the air just before it would have peirced Ananthema through the skull. He throws it back in the direction it came. A shriek rings out through the night air. Davien leaps to his feet.

Davien: They've already come.

Terran draws his sword as Davien draws his crossbow.

Terran: Davien, bring Anathema to the others, I'll take care of these.

Davien and Anathema head inside while Terran slips into the shadows of the bushes to hunt the enemy.

While Terran was fending off the mindless vampires, Setsuna, and his apprentice Midvally were making plans to attack.

Setsuna: They will be fleeing to the Temple of Orin, there we shall strike at dawn. The skies shall be filled with blood. The apocolypse shall begin. There will be no escape for those infantile humans. We shall crush them, bring them to their knees. They will see the true meaning of a demon's power. Unlike those fools, Davien and Kain. I will never forget the day I fought them in that bloodstained arena. It was throbbing with rain. The roar of the crowd barely overtaking the thunder. We could barely see each other except for the light of our blades. They joined forces. They were to take me down, and escape the fiery pits of Hell. They disliked the fact of being...evil. They are wrong! The only purpose of life is the lust for blood. Those powerless humans even have it. We all lust for blood, but none more than a demon. They, however, didn't like the violence, and death. That is their largest flaw. These two broke the mold. They are not demons. They are mindless slaves in this game of life.
Midvally: Yes master, they will play right into your hands.
Setsuna: Our hands, my young apprentice...our hands...

With that, Setsuna and Midvally disappeared in a wisp of smoke.

Kain runs into his room to get his weapons but he sees movement in the shadows. He slides the door open and enters calmly. He trys to go over to his weapons but he sees they have been destroyed.

Kain: D*mn..

A vampire steps out and stands directly in front of Kain.

????: Demon...why do you destroy us?Don't you share our lust for blood?

Kain: Not anymore.

????: I would think the demon Kain of all would be on our side.

Kain: Listen to me vampire. My savage killing ended 300 hundred years ago.I hate creatures like you...

????: We will meet again at the final battle.

The vampire vanishes and Kain goes to help fight the vampires.

Davien and Anathema ran through the garden, avoiding the vampyres that stalked them. As the ran into a stand of trees, allowing themselves a small respite, a vampyre jumps down in front of them. Davien readies his weapon, but lowers it when he realises the vampyre is only a projection.

Vampyre: Why do you seek to escape your nature?

Davien: I do not. I know my nature.

Vampyre: But you deny your instinctive nature.

Davien: Not so. I am an engineered being remember.

Anathema: Do you two know each other?

Davien: No, but I'm basing my answers on the knowledge that Setsuna has.

Anathema: Do you and Setsuna know each other?

Vampyre: Of course they do. Tell me. Why do you believe that bloodlust is not part of your nature?

Davien: It is. But it is not rampant. There are triggers.

Davien spins, raising his crossbow and firing, shooting the vampyre that had come up behind him to the ground.

Davien: Like that. Now, if you'll excuse us?

The vampyre bows mockingly, the shade shimmering and disappearing. Davien and Anathema ru off into the garden, trying to find the others.

OOC: I love being a burden....

Breaching the forest wall, Davien and Anathema hear voices to their left, and run towards them. As they catch sight of the others, on the edge of the treeline that borders the valley, a vampyre steps out from behing a large fir tree after Anathema and Davien have run past. The vampyre, stepping on a dead branch, alerts Anathema's attention from the irregular sound behind her. She spins, to face a small child with blond hair standing in the forest path. Anathema stops, and calls out to Davien, who has lost sight of the group once more, but can still here them. Anathema looks at the child, who appears scared. The child begins to cry, and sob that it is alone, where are it's parents, where is she. Knowing that all villagers from the region are asiatic in appearence, Anathema is suspicios but not quick enough to catch on before the child brings a sharp metal implement out from her back, covered in a viscous, black liquid. The vampyre was quick, and attacked Anathema so quicly it was hard to see. Although Anathema had turned to the side in defence just as quickly, the spike had plunged into Anathema's side and she fell immediately, laughing hysterically and then falling unconscious.
Davien shot the vampyre in the head with the crossbow and it scaled the tree behind which it hid, snorting strangely and transforming into some sort of creature before exploding into a ball of flame and flying away. As the creature fell lowe and lower into the undergrowth, struggling with it's death, flames sprung up and spread rapidly.
Anathema had stopped breathing, and the others were nowhere to be seen.

Davien immediately went to Anathema's side, slicing a long rent down the side of her clothing in his haste to examine the wound. Upon inspection, the wound itself was minor, but puffy and inflamed. Swearing, Davien draws his knife, and, taking a good grip on Anathema's mouth so that she did not bite her tongue, slices the inflamations open. Turning her onto her side, he lets the poison drain out. Considering using his cloak as an astrigent, but unaware of whether the poison attacked the blood or not, he decides against it. Pulling a bandage from under his cloak, he wraps it around her side, concerned by her clammy flesh, although the wound itself was heated.

Lugging her onto his shoulder, he carries her into a more secluded glade, aware that it would be best to hide rather than find the others right now. Re examining her, he is releived to find her colour improving, and a touch of warmth has returned to the surrounding skin, and the wound has cooled. Rummaging through his pack, he digs out a water bottle and some herbs to inspire consciousness. Administering both, he has only to wait a few minutes before she is awake.

Davien: How are you feeling?

Anathema: Okay, I guess.

Davien: Good. Were not going anywhere until your on your feet though.

Anathema: What's this taste in my mouth?

Davien: The herbs I gave you to wake you up. I didn't have access to anything more useful though.

Anathema: So you're a alchemist too?

Davien: I know the basics.

Anathema reaches down and touches the bandage, wincing slightly.

Anathema: Why is there a long cut down my clothing?

Davien: Sorry. Neccessity.

Anathema stands, leaning against the tree behind her. She takes a deep breath and then screams, a peircing, wailing sound escapeing from her lips and ringing Davien's ears. He looks alarmed, but Anathema smiles once she has silenced herself a moment or two later. Hissing sounds fade from the trees, and a silence falls, to be filled with the sounds of forest activity a moment later.
Davien: What was that? Are you ok?

Anathema: Just a way of releasing pain I have pent up inside me. And with some luck, the others might know where we are now.

Davien: That hurt.

Anathema: Sorry, but it had to be done, or I would have passed out again. It hurt me too, but it will be better later. A spiritual thing, if you will. Shall we continue? Where are we? I thought we were on a pathway before....

Davien shakes the last echoes from ringing in his head, his preternaturally alert ears not taking well to such a scream.

Davien: Pathway? What? Oh, yes. I carried you in here, because I thought it safer. If you feel up to continuing, it's best that we left, considering that display.

They set off into the trees, Davien keeping close eye on Anathema in case she should falter. They hear footsteps, soft and light as if the person making them is searching for something, probably them. Davien lowers Anathema down, and sets off to find the stalker. He comes back a few moments later, his blade wet with quickly decaying blood.

Davien: They're out in force. We'll have to get out of here fast.

Davien takes Anathema's hand and leads her off, running swiftly through the increasingly thick trees. Reaching an exposed face, Davien chances a look behind them, and finds no sign of either pursuit or the others.

Davien: It's not safe to go back.

Anathema: Then they'll have to find us.

Anathema: That's not safe, we don't know where we are, and if we are found by the vampyres, we wouldn't be able to take on more than say... twenty.... well, not with me injured like this anyway.

Davien: :therock: Whatever... we will have to find some sort of shelter then.

Anathema: Well, we can't go back to the village, there would be no point... those houses are made of paper and driftwood.

Davien: Well, our only hope is a cave, or something... what do you know, geographically, of this area?

Anathema: Well, the forest extends into a valley, which is split by a wide stream of molten snow. There are unguarded bridges, but it marks the border of the empires anyway. There is a sheer cliff face on the other side of the valley, higher up, in the cul-de-sac where the stream originates.
That's all I know.

Davien: Have you been there before?

Anathema: I took a walk this morning. It's not that far.

Davien sighs, before starting down the valley, the snow drenched slopes making footing trecherous.

Davien: I don't suppose there is an easier way to this?

Anathema: Of course not.

They reach the first exposed point of the river, and Davien brightens considerably. With a short, wild smile for Anathema, he pulls his cloak off and lays it on the smooth ice. A recent wind has stripped the river bare, leaving it like a highway. Stepping back, he leaps forward on to the cloak, sending it careening down the ice, sliding madly with the twist of the river. He can hear Anathema following swiftly. As he reaches the bottom of the valley, he leaps up and grabs a tree branch, swinging himself up onto it, picking his cloak up with his feet. Reaching down, he grabs Anathema's outstretched hand firmly and hoists her up.

Davien: I knew there had to be an easier way.

Anathema: Quit gloating. Shall we go?

They leap out of the tree on to the snow, their landing muffled enough as not to alert anybody around. They start to trudge up the mountain, Davien wondering why exactly he is bothering to hide at all. Realising that it is concern for Anathema, he sighs again.

Anathema: What?

Davien: I just realised why I'm doing this.

Anathema: Oh?

Davien: It's not important. How steep does this cliff get?

Anathema: Not very, but then again my mother was a mountain goat.

Davien: Oh really... who was your father?

Anathema: A mountain goat, of course. What kind of sick person do you think my mother was?

Davin: Sorry....

Anathema: Only joking. I was an orphan.

Davien: I think I vaguely remember asking for this story...

Anathema:Tell me.

Davien: Tell you what?

Anathema: What's not important. Why you are doing this. You tell me that and I will tell you the story of my mountain-incestic-orphaned life.

Davien(laughing): That's hardly fair.

Anathema(stopping and turning to face him): I really don't care, you know...

Terran hurries through the shadows in the direction of the scream he heard, hoping he wasn't too late.

He bursts of of the bushes beside Davien and Anathema. Assuming another vampire attack, Davien spins and fires a bolt from his crossbow. Terran puts up his hand and the bolt slows and stops in the air before falling to the grass.

Davien: H...How di...

Terran: Never mind, I heard a scream, what happened?

Anathema (Smiling): That must have been me you heard, I was jus...

Terran: Doesn't matter, you're alright though?

Anathema: Yes.

Terran: Good. We must hurry. Come.

Davien: Hurry? Why?

Terran (Looking at the moon, which has turned a red colour): That. The past... It's all happening again.

Anathema: What is?

Terran: No time to explain now. I'll tell you all later, now we must meet with the others, and fast. Through the forest should be the quickest way to them. If we get separated, these will help.

Terran raises his hand and three orbs of blue light shoot forth from it. Each orb rises a few metres above the three and stays locked in place, one over each head.

Terran: These will move with us. Lets go.

Anathema: What are you

Terran: Possibly the cause of all this. Now we must hurry.

Terran, Davien and Anathema head off into the forest.

Kain stands at the top of the mountain in front of a small structure glowing red.

Kain: I'll kill you now.Here.I won't let you live.

Setsuna appears along with his apprentice.

Setsuna: We can't let you do that.

Midvally: Leave him to me.

Setsuna: Sure.Be sure to kill him.

Setsuna disappears leaving Midvally and Kain to fight.

Kain: I will destroy the key to the apocalyps.

Midvally: Over my dead body.

Kain: So be it.:demon:

The battle begins, Midvalley being slightly weaker than Kain. They draw their swords from the air and begin fighting. It started to rain, and the thunder echoed throughout the mountain like the roar of a god. Kain struck first, being blocked by Midvally, and they continued from there.

Elsewhere, Yuugi was searching for someone...anyone...and ran to a cliff, where he saw the battle that was taking place. He sat and watched, channeling energy to Kain. Kain had taken down Midvally, and was about to kill him, when Setsuna appeared, teleporting Midvally and himself to safety.

Later, in a dark, moist cave, lit only by Setsuna's energy, Setsuna talked to Midvally.

Setsuna: You disappoint me, young one.
Midvally: He was...too strong.
Setsuna: That fool? He couldn't kill a butterfly!
Midvally: You wouldn't understand his strength.
Setsuna: I am the ONLY one who could understand his strength. Being as I am the only one who has fought him in a true battle. The point being, you have failed me...and now you shall die.
Midvally: But! Master Setsuna! N-

He was cut off by a bolt of energy.

Setsuna: Filthy being...may he rot for the rest of his existence. Now, I'll go deal with...Kain...

Setsuna: Die Kain!!Vold Drift!!!!

Setsuna fires a blast of energy Kain quickly turns around but is to late and is shot dead in the chest. He flies off the peak of the mountain and crashes lands right in front of Terran,Anathma, and Davien.Nearly dead they pick him up and sit him against a tree.

Terran: He's just about dead.

Davien: This is beyond my power. His body is completely broken.Every limb...

Anathema: Let's find Yuugi. He should be able to do something.

Anathema: That's not safe.

Davien: Or, you two could have him firing energy at you while trying to lug Kain around.

Anathema: Be careful.

Davien: Always.

Davien runs off, at greater speed than would have been evident considering his earlier behaviour. Reaching the summit, he confronts the about to leave Setsuna.

Anathema checks the semi-conscious Kain. Turning to Terran, she sees little emotion in his eyes.

Anathema: Yuugi. Where did you last see him?

Terran: Up over the edge of the valley, on the edge of the forest. We were in sight of the village. But that was hours ago...

Anathema: Where do you think he could be now?

Terran: Well, judging by the number of vampyres, I would say that either they ran.... west, or are pretty tied up still.

Anathema: Or dead.

Terran: Always a possibility, but I doubt it with Yuugi.

Anathema: You said they would have ran west. Why is that?

Terran: Off the mountain, warmer climate, western civilisation, easy walking.

Anathema: Just an assumption, then.

Terran: Well, yeah, but..

Anathema: And a damn good one too, I wouldn't have figured that out under the pressure we are in. Besides, you are right...*she looks up at the snowy peaks*there really isn't anywhere else to go.

Terran: Where were you two headed, then?

Anathema: Shelter. I found a cave this morning.

Terran: Right, well... take Kain to it. Can you manage?

Anathema smirks.

Terran: ok... you do that and I will get Yuugi. We will find you easily if you give me a direction from here...?

Anathema: Due east from here. Slight slope, breach the ridge and you can see it clear as day.

Terran nods and runs back up the side of the valley, leaving Anathema to lug Kain onto her shoulder and trudge upwards in the thickening snow. She pauses half way and reaches down, picking up a handfull of ice and pressing it to the steaming, black wound in her side, her eyes watering from the pain.

Kain: I can still feel the pain.

Anathema: You going to be ok?

Kain: I'll be fine.

OOC: No, I don't know why I ressurected this either. Something to do I guess.

IC:Setsuna just shakes his head and shimmers, disappeared. Davien spins, leaping off the side of the mountain. After halting his fall somewhat a hell of a way down, he searchs after the others again. He opens his mind, searching. Kain appears, in his demon form. Davien sends out a questing though, locating him. He jumps up and runs after him, hoping Anathema will be there. She is.

He approaches her and inquires about the wound. She seems alright, but in pain. He concentrates his energy in his hands, laying them upon her wound. Some of the darkness drains out of it. He staggers back, weakened. She nods once and they continue on.

OOC: Wow, you brought this thing back from the grave.
------------------

Kain, Davien, and Anathema walked off toward the village, hoping to find refuge. All of a sudden, they heard something from a tree, a branch had snapped, sending someone falling to the ground. "Setsuna...", Kain said, staring at the shadowy figure.

"The final bout. Revenge for the battle in Hell!", Setsuna said, sprouting wings, and returning to a demon. Davien did the same, Kain already staring down Setsuna. All three of them drew their swords of energy, and engaged in battle. Above, the sky grew red. This would be the final battle. The end of all mankind. Armageddon.
