Hi

I borrowed all the dbz movies specials and episodes from a friend, but I dont know when to watch the movies to coincide with the series. My friend didnt care to much about order so he couldnt help me out. Any help on when to a movie after which episode would help alot.

Well most of the movies don't take place in the same time as the series. But movies 1 (deadzone) takes place before the radditz series, since gohan's a wimp, and movie 2 is after radditz and....well goku knows kaioken in movie 2 (world's strongest), but it can't have been between goku training w/ king kai and vegeta coming, so it's hard to tell u see. Gohan's a kid in movies 1-9, and in 10-14 he's a teen. That's the best I can do.

So the movies do not really match up with the series. I guess I have to find a rough estimate, thanks. Are the trunks and specials the same to? Or do i watch that at a different time.

"Dead Zone" takes place prior to Raditz's arrival.

"Bardock Saga" happens before Dragon Ball.

"The History of Trunks" takes place in the future, just before Trunks heads to the past to tell everyone about the androids.

All the other movies just sort of happens and has no affect on the actual series.

It's actually kind of fun to watch the movies and try to place when in the series they would have hypothetically happened... but for the most part, there are paradoxes between the series and movies. For instance, in the Metal Cooler movie, the Z warriors are sent to New Namek to save it from the Big Gheti Star. Who sends them to Namek? Dende, the guardian of earth. But Gohan cannot turn Super Saiyan in this movie, and Dende became Guardian of Earth after Goku emerged from the Room of Spirit and Time, at which Gohan was already a Super Saiyan.

It always bugged me that the producers made little to no effort to coincide the movies with the series. Lately in my area (Canada) the cartoon station has been showing DBZ movies every monday. LAst Monday was lord slug. There are soooo many timeline holes but the 2 i remember are in the tree of might and lord slug.

In the tree of might Goku is able to use the spirt bomb, showing he had trained with King Kai and The Sayian Saga had taken place. Only problems are, Picciolo is in the movie when in thje show he was dead until they wished him back on Namek, and second Krillin was there and he left for Namek b4 Goku was even healed form his fight with Vegeta. So Either this was b4 Vegeta and Nappa and he should not have known spirt bomb, or it was after and there were a few 2 many people where they should not have been....

In Lord Slug it is basiclly the same thing as he knew kao ken but krillena and piccilo and Gohan were not on the way to Namek yet.

There are many more but those are the ones i can think of right now.

Yeah, it always kinda bugged me that everyone who died in the Saiyan Saga was mysteriously resurrected during Tree of Might.
I remember someone trying to convince me once it took place after the Frieza Saga, since Gohan had on the Piccolo-costume he made there, but he forgot the proof there that it didn't: Goku didn't go Super Saiyan. After Turles nearly killed Gohan, Goku's anger would have caused him to transform.

Actually, they don't coincide with each other because Akira Toriyama didn't make the movies, but I don't know which came first, the movies, or the series, but whoever came second, just totally screwed it up.

thats true. I have a good feeling that the Episodes came first, the the movies were spun off, like telemovies of other series. It seems logicall that way.

Watch the movies in order. They dont co-inside with the saga's and the show. Watch them whenever you want, just dont try and confuse them with other aspects that you know.

EDIT: Aries, if Akira Toriyama had screwed up the series, then the movies had to be insanely awesome.

Vegitto4 is right. The only thing close to the movie and series link is brolly and freeza, to understand some of the brolly saga you need to know what freeza did to planet vegeta, (incase you dont know, freeza blew up planet vegeta, and exiled/left for dead all of the remaining saiyans).
