James
I have an "official E3" thread in the Nintendo forum, but I HAD to post this here for all you Zelda freaks. Charles
I can definitely see that the lighting effects have been put to good use. Hehe, I don't know if you did it on purpose or not, but the three screens really show how much the lighting varies in different environments. I've never seen a video of the game yet. If it moves smoothly, look out.

Desbreko
Originally posted by James for all you Zelda freaks.
Thanks for the compliment. :toothy: ...The thing is, I've already seen all of those screen shots and more... Without the stamp on them... Go to http://www.nintendo.com/e32k2/index.jsp, and there's a bunch of information on both the GCN and GBA Zelda games (and lots of other games, too). There's screen shots (that aren't stamped, like those others in James' post), and a movie for both of them, too. I just spent about two and a half hours downloading stuff from the E3 section on www.nintendo.com... And yes, the animation is very smooth. I'm totally loving the cel-shaded graphics now, even though I didn't like them quite as much as the realistic graphics, before. Infact, I think I like them a little more, now... It kind of looks like the old art from Zelda and Zelda II on the NES... Oh, and one other thing... That Spin Attack was totally awsome!!! Forget Omnislash (Final Fantasy VII), that Spin Attack is now my favorite sword attack in any video game! I can't wait to use it! My favorite screen shot:

Turkey
Well, time for some new stuff released today (from Planet Gamecube): 1.This baby features totally interactive area. In other words, do not swing a torch while standing on a wooden bridge. 2.Link's sister is named Arril, and she's kidnapped by pirates. The area from the Spaceworld video takes place in the Pirate's Lair. I'm not sure, but I think she's the girl from James's second pic. 3.You can take weapons from enemies, like the huge sword Link has in part of the trailer. 4.That spin attack lasts 5 seconds (Total Destruction, MWAHAHAHA!). Nintendo, let us play it! Give us some freakin demo discs!
The Vampire: Ed
I hope no one takes offense to my opinion, but I think this Zelda looks horrible. At least that's what I think when I look at these pictures. This looks like some of the worse cel shading I have ever seen, but then again I was never much of a cel shading fan. The shadowing and lighting do look good though like Crazy White Boy said, but I don't know, it just looks bad to me. Well, I have just seen the trailer from Nintendo's official site. I have to admit I am impressed with the animation, and how smooth the game flows. But I still don't like the way it looks. The cel shading leaves me uninterested in the game. I can't seem to enjoy cel shading games, so I have a feeling this will be the same for me. Sorry.
Turkey
No offense taken. Oh well...It's your opinion and I'll respect it. However, you should at least rent this baby when it comes out. I mean, everybody should play this game.
Charles
Originally posted by The Vampire: Ed I hope no one takes offense to my opinion, but I think this Zelda looks horrible.
Hehe, this is coming from somebody who hates every cel shaded game. I mean c'mon man, you even said that Jet Set Radio Future looked bad. Then again, I guess the cel shading technique isn't for everyone. It's kind of a love it or hate it thing. I just think it'll be interesting to see if people talk about how the newest Zelda plays instead of how it looks after its finally released. I saw the video and it reminded me a lot of the other Zelda games. The animation was great and the game has a nice flow of speed. For some reason I just want to watch some Saturday morning cartoons after seeing that trailer. Anyway, it would neat if there were traces of the Ico forumla, where Link had to lead his sister around. :drunk: Oh yeah, and that spin attack looks wicked. I bet it drains some kind of health though. Something like that can't be free.
James
Also, Link's sister gave him his world-famous tunic for his birthday. Another interesting little note. ;) It almost seems like this Zelda is a prequel of sorts...I mean, Link is "young Link" in this story...but if this story tells of how he first got his tunic (and since you don't have of his sister so much in other stories)...that might suggest a prequel. Anyway, I personally feel that cel shading was the best option here -- Zelda has never before had so much personality. This is how Zelda should look. Also, when you actually play the game (if you read impressions), the facial expressions are said to be amazing...Link changes his expression depending on his emotions at the time. It's very cool. :)

Something like that can't be free.
I don't think they'd have it take Hearts... I'm pretty sure there's never been an attack in a Zelda game that takes life, and I don't think they'd start now... I'm guessing it probably takes around ten seconds to charge up, and uses half of your magic meter, though. Hmm... yes, I think that this information does point to another prequel... Either that, or they've totally disregarded the storyline of the other games... If it's a prequel to Ocarina of Time, though, it means he's still living in Kokiri Forest (and he'd be under ten years old), so that doesn't sound very likely. ...I really have no idea where this game could be set in the timeline, if not before Ocarina of Time, though... I really hope that it fits in with the other games somehow, and it's not just kind of there and doesn't relate to the other games at all. About the cel shaded graphics... I really don't see why the graphics matter that much... I mean, if a game plays well and has a good storyline, do the graphics really matter more than that? I myself don't judge a game by its graphics; I wait to play it before I say it's good/bad, and I judge it on how fun it is. Think of this: Take your favorite game, and imagine it having cel shaded graphics... Would you still like that game? I'd bet that you would, despite the graphics, because it's a fun game to play. My point is, the graphics aren't the most important part of a game; It's how much fun you have with a game that matters most... So I'd suggest playing this game first, before dismissing it because of its cel shaded graphics.
Turkey
Well, from the video, it seems that it takes about 8 seconds for Link to charge his Super Spin of Death. And doesn't he sound like a psycho when he yells while doing it? Man, I really need to hear more music from this baby (I know, I'll try to begin calling it "game"). Anyone up for a remixed Dark World theme?
Desbreko
Yes, he does kind of sound like a pyscho while using it, doesn't he, LOL... Well, I guess it sounds pretty much like the yell from OOT and MM, just longer, since the Spin Attack is going longer... Are you kidding?! Am I up for it?! Of course I am! I totally love the Dark World theme, a remixed version would be so cool!!! ...Not for the overworld (you gotta have the classic Zelda theme), but you could most likely fit it somewhere (especially if there's something like the Dark World in this game)... I've heard a remix of it on an mp3, and it sounded really good. Another good one would be the Hyrule Castle theme, another one that I've heard a remixed mp3 of. I also can't wait to hear the music in this game. I've bought the OOT soundtrack, and I'd like the MM soundtrack, so you can tell I really like the Zelda music (and a lot of other game music, too, actually). You know what would be kind of cool? If they put in a code or something that changed the overworld music to the original Zelda theme, from the original The Legend of Zelda. I think that would be a fun little trick.
starlight
i saw the trailer and i dunno what to think of it. i would rent and play it... but i dont have a gamecube yet so im sorta stuck in the middle o well lol man that yell sounds like my lil bro when hes upset lol

Desbreko
I don't remember where I got it, it was a long time ago. I wouldn't think it'd be that hard to find a remixed version of the Dark World theme, though.
Omniroth
I've always Liked the Zelda Series, and though i'm a bigger fan of realistic graphics, i'm still going to try this one. The other Zelda's up to this one have been good, so as long as the storyline and plot are good, even it was back to 2-d pixels, i'll play it. I wonder what Ganon looks like THIS time.... 1. Giant Pig. (The Legend of Zelda) 2. No Ganon. (The Adventures of Link: Legend of Zelda 2) 3. Giant Pig. (Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past) 4. No Ganon (Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening 5. Gerudo/Giant Mutant Pig (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) 6. No Ganon (Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask) 7&8 Giant floppy Eared Pig (Leg. of Zelda: Oracle of Season/Ages) Notice how it goes Ganon/No Ganon/Ganon? I wonder if this one will even have a Ganon the way the series have gone in order so far...
starlight
i dunno but if it does have gannon in it i wanna see a pic of him lol
Desbreko
What makes you think Ganon will be in this Zelda game? Nothing has been mentioned about Ganon so far... But if the plot has something to do with the Triforce, Ganon will probably be in it... But nothing has been said about the Triforce, either, so we just don't know yet. Oh, and Ganon is in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link... kind of... The game over screen has a picture of him, and says "Game Over Return of Ganon." Zelda II is when the name changed from "Gannon" to "Ganon." Take a look:
Break
I think Nintendo would put Ganon in the new Legend Of Zelda, but only to try out Ganon in a cel-shaded style. If Nintendo did put him in, I think he'd look like: --The one from Legend of Zelda, because that is where the new Zelda is based from. --Or the one from Ocarina of Time, simply because he's a newer version and they want to see what he looks like cel-shaded.
James
I want to see Ganon in the new Zelda...and I want to see him as his moblin-like self (the way he TRULY looks). That would be incredibly cool. :)
Omniroth
If the game looks this good as well as the characters, i highly bet Ganon's gonna look cool and evil like in Ocarina of Time.
Desbreko
Yes, Ganon in the new GCN Zelda game would be cool... But they'd have to work him being in the game into the plot. Maybe the Triforce is back in the hands of Link and Zelda, and Ganon manages to break out of the Dark World (that Seal can't be all that strong, since he's already broken out a couple times, LOL) and kidnap Link's sister. This'll force Link to come after her, and Ganon hopes that he'll be able to get the Triforce back if he can defeat Link and get him out of his way... Just one of the many possibilities for the storyline, that I'm throwing out here... But my point is they'd have to fit Ganon in with the rest of the storyline of the game. It wouldn't work too well if he was just kind of there.
Turkey
Well, here are a few pics of Link's sister, Arrill (sp?). Cute, huh?
Desbreko
You can definitely see the family resemblance... I think it's mainly the hair color, LOL... Cute enough, I suppose, but I still like Malon more... *drools over picture of Malon* But, um, moving right along... I'm guessing those shots are from the opening movie in the game, where you see Link's sister (never heard the name before) get kidnapped. It looks like they're in a boat, so maybe that part in the trailer where Link is in that boat is when you first start the game? Probably chasing after whoever/whatever kidnapped his sister... I'm thinking this probably isn't too far off, because the only other likely time there'd be in the game with them both together like that, out and about, would be the ending move; and they probably wouldn't show you part of the ending movie in some screen shots. And, since they're on boat, that might mean they're traveling away from Hyrule... Which means this game could be set away from Hyrule and the Triforce, so Ganon probably wouldn't be involved, then... Hmm... that sounds like I'm trying to say Ganon won't be in the game... Actually, that's not what I'm trying to say, I'm just pondering about the storyline and what it could be like. Pretty much just posting up my thoughts about the game, my predictions... Every time I see a new screen shot/movie that has any information that could possibly relate in any way to the storyline at all, I start guessing about what that tiny bit of information could mean... So, um, I guess I've rambled on enough...
