wrist cutter
What do most of these questions have to do with biology?
VP-Master
It's surprisingly doesn't seem to do much with biology itslef but my guess is that the questions on personal background are basically to see what generally people of different genders, races, and areas view about evolution. It's a simple survey.

Fall
No need to start a discussion here, but would you, or someone else, please tell me what "Evolution" and "Creationism" is? That's the only question I don't get....
The Unholy Newt
Evolution is the process of life which involves one organism (example- ape) evolving into another (Human) I'm not so sure on Creationism
The Harlequin
1) Gender: Male 2) What do you believe in?: Evolutionism 3) Why? : Religion doesn't work. Logic. _________________________________________________ 5) How strong are your religious beliefs ? Non-existent 6) Are you very familiar with any evolutionary theories ? Yes 7) Ethnic Background: A bit Celt/Norse cross, with a little Asian thrown in for good measure. Born/raised in Australia. Where have you lived most of your life ? Harlequin, your logic is well ?warped. 4) What is your religion? Logic. 5) How strong are your religious beliefs? Non-existent According to that your religion is logic, but your belief for logic is non-existent?

James
1) Gender: Male 2) What do you believe in? Evolution 3) Why?: Because evolution is a proven fact; we know that the world is approximately 4.5 billion years old and we know much about the history of the Earth's inhabitants based on fossil record, carbon dating etc etc. 4) What is your religion?: I'm not religious, because I think that if God exists...he'd find the idea of organized religion to be blasphemous. lol But I'm not really athiest...so I guess I'd call myself "humanist" or something. *shrug* 5) How strong are your religious beliefs?: Erm, I have strong faith in the human spirit and the laws of the natural world...but I don't have religious faith in the traditional sense. So I guess you'd say that my religious beliefs are non existant. 6) Are you very familiar with any evolutionary theories?: Yes. In Australia (like in most modern countries), evolution/biology/human development are studied in high school. These are common natural facts that most people my age (in this country, at least) are aware of. 7) Ethnic Background: Australian (I'm Australian and so are my parents and grandparents...so I don't consider myself to have a "European" ethnic background) 8) Where have you lived most of your life?: Melbourne, Australia. :)

Kent
i think that evolution exist, but only to an extent of what we take it as. i dont think that one animal became a totally different one, but it do believe that the difference between 2 different, say... , sharks; could be acredited to evolution. i also have a bit of support for this in that, evolution is still only a theory and in that theory there are still gaps that cannot be accounted for. i think a question asking about our views on darwins publishings would have been more along the lines of biology. and believe it or not its not fact. the theories of survival of the fittest and natural selection have great support, but, the scientific community cannot prove it to be fact or law, this is the exact reason you will only see it refered to as the "theory of evolution" in any scientific publication.
