square has finally announced that ff11 will indeed be released on the pc, as well as the ps2! though no release date has been given yet, they have hinted at the fact it could be released a few months after ps2 release....

quite possibly, the game could be released in the US and UK before it is released in japan on pc, this is indeed good news for us UK'ers, US'ers too!

so far, they have not announced anything about whether there will be any extras on the pc version....

the game will not need a monthly subscription as the ps2 version has, this is indeed the best news as those who do not want to pay the subscription can simply play the game on their pc....

no word has been given yet as to whether pc players will be able to interact with ps2 players, sources say no....

thats it for now

Yeah thats good news alright, i think internet games would work much better on PCs than on the ps2, although i will still get on ps2 to add it to my collection FF collection!!!

Yeah, I've known about the PC version for a while. I'm sure that differences will be kept to a minimal. My guess is that the PC version will have slightly sharper graphics. I would really hope that PS2 players could interact with PC players though. Unlike most first person shooting games, PC users wouldn't have a huge advantage in areas of control.

I thought square would do this, FF11 being an almost completely online game, PCs handle ping and such things better, but it's a good move for square, this will certainly draw in a lot of PC gamers who don't have PS2s or don't want to shell out for one.

YES! NO MONTHLY FEE!!!!! I am so happy about this!!! I was going to have to get it for the PC anyway (no PS2), but this makes it even better!

Oh, and I had heard that PS2 and PC users were going to be able to interact... Why wouldn't they be able to, anyway? The character information and everything is stored on their servers, you're just using a different kind of machine to access it...

It's system discrimination ;)

I'll buy whichever one most people here buy (if it's true about the non-interaction thing) so maybe we can have a Otaku clan, where the British member aren't as built up as the Americans etc
there are already clans on the net, lol, the game's not even out yet, there's this one site completely dedicated, with a message board and everything, they have clans, but heck if I remember the url....

I think it was gloriousff.com or something

This is very good news. :)

I wouldn't have wanted to pay monthly on my PS2, plus buying the HDD and Modem. Now I just have to install it on my PC and that's that. :)

It's still online right? And if so, does the charge just go to your monthly internet phone line bill?

I should think so, however, there is a chance you may have to still pay a monthly subscription, as seen in other online games such as the legend of mir 2 and myth of soma....

the ps2 version in the UK however, may take suit after phantasy star online ver.2, where you just had to give the address of your ISP and play on that line bill, which is free is you pay that £10 a month thing for unlimited access....

From sources, I've read FF 11's going to come out on Gamecube. But I dont know if this's true. Anyway, quick question to everyone. What format are you going to buy FF 11 for?
yeah this is true, as is ff10 coming out too on the cube.

And what would make FF11 so different than ant other pc online games for it to have a subscription fee, although the chances are likely that it will because the ps2 version would make a lot of money from it, so square would think "why not do it on the pc, wed just be losing out."

you are mistaken about FF11 coming out for the GC....

it is not coming out for the GC....

and in latest news, square have announced that they are indeed doing what sega did with PSO V2 for the UK, meaning that UK'ers will just need to connect with their internet service provider's, meaning no monthly fee, hurrah for the UK then....

japan will continue to pay a monthly fee....

the US is an unknown factor....

Neither FFXI or FFX are coming to GameCube.

GameCube will get its own exclusive version of Final Fantasy, which will connect to a GBA version. :)

Thats great news... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't FFXI coming to XBOX also? I'm not sure, maybe it was FFX. But I'm pretty sure it was one of the two

Well, from what I've heard, Square will be making a game that connects to a GBA version of the game using the GCN - GBA Link Cable. I haven't heard any official announcements about those games being Final Fantasy games or not, though.

And where are you getting these screen shots of FFX on the GCN from? If it's from a gaming magazine, what's the name of the magazine?
