When I was like 6, my mother showed me an anime called Astro Boy. I beleive it was the first anime in America. But, yea that's how it started.

I was a freshman in high school and my friend would always wear a DBZ shirt and I thought that kind of stuff was stupid. Well I sat down and watched DBZ and was a fight scene and I was in awe. So then I was flipping through channels and saw macross was on and decided to give it a shot. I liked it and then started seeing more and more anime. And that's how I got started.

Hmm, lets think all the way back... Okay Storytime!

Once upon a time, about 8 years ago, I saw an episode of Dragon Ball, and I became fascinated with it, I always watched it, and soon I started to go on the Internet to learn more about it, and after, I just went to the other animes that they had of their sites. I downloaded some episodes, movies, and I also read a lot and I know what I know today because of it.

Don't worry Warlock, I too was into Pokemon, and I neither will forgive myself, the horror... AWAY DEMON PIKACHU!!! *throws a donut at it*

heheh. My mom brought me into anime. She didn't know we'd get this obsessed with it. She kicks herself for it. :haha:

When I was 3 years old, she brought home a movie called "Little Nimo" or something like that. It was anime, but we didn't know it then.

A few years later, I got into Sailor Moon. Still I didn't know what anime was. Then I got into Pokemon, and FINALLY I found out what anime was, and then I got into more and more anime such as Digimon, DBZ, Tenchi, Gundam, Rurouni Kenshin, Record of Lodoss War, Ranma 1/2, Inu Yasha, Magic Knight Rayearth, and MANY more. :D

Anyone every heard of the movies Totoro or Kiki's delivary service? I had those movies when I was little, so I kinda got started there. But it all started with Pokemon...::shudder:: Thinking about it, it was the worst series I've ever watched in my life. Ack!

Kiki's Delivery Service, I love that darn movie *sniff*

I began my interest in anime when I began watching Sailor Moon about 5 years ago, but I had been watching anime shows on tv since Samurai Pizza Cats. I eventually realized that anime was a completely different form of animation than the traditional American stuff I had grown up with. Thanks to Cartoon Network (they are good for something you CN haters!) I was able to watch more anime series, and finally I decided to begin buying anime. My collection has been growing since then, and the number of tapes and DVDs I have seems to double ever year.

The first anime i remember would be Speed Racer, there may be some befor this but it's the first i remember that kicked major butt. I mean common Spead Racer and Racer X, it's been so long since i've seen that show, i really need to see it again...

I started watching that when i didn't know the difference between Anime and cartoons, but over time i was introduced to Akira and then a BlockBuster came to town i was able to rent alot of other greats like Ghost in the Shell (well it's a "great" IMO). Now-a-days ijust buy any anime i think might instrest me, i did this with Jin-Roh... I still don't know what to think of that movie.

Now I'm hooked on it and runnign two seperate sites dedicated to it and drawing it and DAMIT I'LL NEVER STOP!!!!!!!!

yes indeed.
i think one of the major driving forces was my intrest in being able to draw it myself.
not just the technique of it all, but being able to maybe one day make a movie that had everything i wanted.
who knows if that will happen...
it was also the visual effects, you just cant make a live action movie that will depict the amazing stuff you see in animes.
especially mobile suits and amazing fights.

the first anime I saw was dubbed Sailor Moon. I hated it (no offense to SM fans). then last year my guy friends were talking about Dragonball Z playing on Toonami, and I thought it was stupid, despite I'd never seen it but knew it was anime. one of 'em finally convinced me to try it out, and once I started watching the Cell saga I was hooked and moved on from there ^_^.

Same here... me and my best buddy did, we'd talk about anything and everything to do with Pokemon.... scary to think about it really.... but then I remember when Sailor Moon was first played on tv when I was about 6 and I loved it then... I reckon I started to get full-on into anime when Naomi showed me some stuff she found on the net and when she got me to tape Gundam Wing for her

Woah woah woah...Don't diss Pokemon. The Indigo saga rocked. Sadly, it lost a lot of it's magic during Orange and Johto.

Anyway, on topic. I got really into animé thanks to IGN. I signed up with them about 2 years ago, and I received a Tokyopop Magazine (the penultimate one). I loved every single article on it. At the end they had a manga of Sorcerer Hunters.

Last Summer, I downloaded loads of animé, and bought my first DVD (Sorcerer Hunters). Ever since then, I have been a huge fan of animé. And that's why I'm such a SH fanboy...:D

Again, I owe something to the Tenchi series'. :D I first saw it on Toonami, and it was the only show that I liked. I enjoyed it so much that I just had to watch other animes. Now, I've enjoyed it and several others for as long as Tenchi has been on Toonami(which actually isn't that long.)

DBZ got me into it when I was about 6, I saw it on regular TV (the episode where Tien, Krillin, Yamcha, and Chautzu go into the past) and I never saw it after that for a few years, cuz I forgot when it came on. But then I saw Sailor moon, and DBZ on Toonami >ugh, toonami< and liked anime ever since then. Even though I'm growing tired of DBZ :p

Ever since I was a kid I watched anime, but it was just stuff like ThunderCats. But since I am an artist, I've always loved the style, and it always got to me when I watched it. I remember when I was very young, about 5 or 6, sitting up in the middle of the night and watching Akira. The entire room was black, but the TV was lit up white and the whole room was glowing. Ever since then, I pursed my interest in anime because of the style of artwork. I would buy videogame magazines just for advertisments at the end with all the anime merchandise. Then Sailor Moon started coming in USA, and I just went from there. It's been years and years. :) I just can't really afford to expand my collection much at the present time, but I do have what I have and I watch what I can.

I used to watch Sailor Moon with my Korean friend when I was in 2nd grade, and I loved that show. ^^ Then I kinda forgot about Sailor Moon, until my city started getting Cartoon Network, when I was in--maybe the end of 6th grade. I caught Toonami once, and I was like..."OH! I remeber Sailor Moon!" I watched the rest of Toonami too, then I started watching it everyday and I started to really like it. But I really started off when Fox took Escaflowne off the air. I was at Media Play once day, and I saw it there, so I bought all eight tapes (over time!). Then I was really hooked on anime. I started going to MediaPlay every week and getting an anime tape. Then I got a DVD Player and whoosh. Now I have a huge DVD/VHS anime library. Plus manga. My friend showed me her Fushigi Yuugi manga, so now I love manga, too.
