Hmph . . . I'm glad that none of this really applies to me . . . I may be a newb in post counts (not even 500 yet!) I'm not a newb in experience . . . the only thing that stinks w/ me is I never get any time online when I need it . . .

And I'd be in more RPGs than I already am, but you can tell who are the newbs and who aren't . . . newbs really make the RPG stink . . .

And James, I Like Walking On Thin Ice :-P

The ice is about to break open and you're about to fall head first into the cold water underneath.

Then we'll see how much you like it. :p

Translation: That was Forte's last warning.

As for the RPGs...I do agree that lately, quality has gone down the toilet. I'm not the best RPer and I would only consider myself average (it's up to others to judge how good/bad I am)...but I miss RPGs which have a lot of thought in their plot and characters.

The RPGs are one of the best things about OtakuBoards...and it would be great to see people really putting thought in when starting new ones.

I'm giving complete permission to Flash, Rico and Warlock to get a little more tough with poorly performing RPGs. That is, RPGs which have a sign up thread...which get about two members...and which run for about one page and then stop. Those can be deleted altogether.

For newbies...I recommend that you wait before you post/sign up. It would be a good idea to spend some time reading others RPGs...so that you may get a feel for what they are offering. Once you feel confident enough in your knowledge, you can then sign up and start actively participating.

umm..how do you guy's get those custom-made avatars and signature pics?!
Staff are allowed to have custom sized avatars, while normal members can have 60x60 custom avatars once they hit 500 posts.

If you want more information regarding avatars and images in signatures, please read our rules. :)

no, i meant like those little megaman and old school RPG strip thingies! those are neat-o!

Anyways, i do know how to RP correctly, with good posts. Just looking for the right RPG. I've been reading around, but it gets really confusing after a while. I tried the Zelda one, but remembered i don't know anything about zelda. THings i want to join are already to full.

Oh...well, those are made by certain members on the forums (ie: Flash and Warlock).

So if you want one, I guess you'd have to ask 'em.

When you see a sticky thread created by Neil you know somethings amiss... and it was rules... o_O... Boy. This is kind of weird. To me. O_o...

I guess after a hiatus i'll go back to RPGing... *shrugs* But what Neil said I agree with...

Anywayz, i have been wandering around the threads and stuff, and i noticed that one guy became a moderator in less then 2 months! WOW! back at the others boards, i've been their for 4 months with 1500 posts and yet i get nothing!

I became a mod in less than a month, that was a year ago, then went on to becoming admin....

it doesn't really matter how long you have been somewhere, what counts is the person themselves, post quality, attitude, knowledge, etc....

Ouch, that hurt, I know it didn't have any plot, but that was the point, a tournament where we fight with Zoids. I don't see anything wrong if that is the main jist. I've seen many other tournament topics here, are you slamming them? Nope!
HAH! Because your's, had...
1) No plot.
2) No rules.
3) No effort put into it.
4) Double, Triple, and I think even QUADRUPILE postings.

To put it short: It was a spam-fest that could've contended with the PRP...

It's grammar, man. and yes, I've seen quite a few myself, I'm n07 1 0f 7h3m.

Overall: Thanx for saying that, but you don't need to slam anything.
Excuse me for writing those guidelines when I just happened to snap at 3:30 AM...

Oh, and I'm 'slamming' how annoying all this is. How would you like it if you poured your heart and soul and some punk came up in there with a post that says "i shot u i win hah loser"? Hmm? Now you know how I feel everytime I look in a topic like your older/gone one...

most of the posting that was dubbled was by one guy a newbie who had just joined did that. as for chacters being invicable that shold stop entirely, and pepole should think though ther idea befor making it an rpg. one more thing i don't know these a brvations so they should stop with abervating i can figure some out but others are impossible. some pepole just can't spell so don't take it out on them. Also if your not goina post in the rpg don't join just get your post count.

True, some people have difficulty with spelling.

But there are a few important points to be made about that.

First, our site requires at least an acceptable level of spelling. There are plenty of forums which don't care about spelling...and those are the forums which often tend to have less quality in their posts.

Second, good spelling and grammar can really improve an RPG. If you can be descriptive...and use correct English, it's going to be easier for everyone else to understand you. I think that this is particularly important in RPGs.

I strongly agree with this, and also the stuff that Neil wrote. Before I would even post in this forum, I read almost all of Meteo City HV2, as it was being written. That was a really cool RPG, and it taught me a lot about how the RPGs work here. Before that, I had never even seen RPGs on a message board.
If you're like I was, I highly suggest finding a good RPG that's being played, and just read the posts as people write them. It'll help you get to know how the RPGs work, and maybe even help you write better.

My writing skills have actually improved quite a bit, since I first started participating in these RPGs. This forum has helped me be more descriptive in my writing, along with generally better quality writing. When I first came to this board, My grammar was pretty bad. Now, I have pretty good grammar. This board, and this forum more than any other, has helped my writing skills more than anything I ever learned in school... thanks :)

Something I'd like to add, though. Before posting a post, read through it first. Once I started doing this, I rarely made mistakes anymore (there are still mistakes once in awhile, as no one is perfect, though). This also gives you a chance to refine your post, to make it clearer, and maybe add in something that would make the post better. I also do this, and it has helped quite a bit. Sometimes it can make what you're trying to say a whole lot clearer.
4) Double, Triple, and I think even QUADRUPILE postings.
I don't know about Triple+, but there were a few double posts. This was due to a few things. Two people were having a good time posting and then deleting.
3) No effort put into it.
I tried my best, I had some effort in it when it started. Then everyone joined, and never, or rarely posted. Plus, I had an organised chart on who was playing who about two weeks into the game. Then, people that decided not to have a team, all made teams that no one joined. I anounced the battles and after two weeks of nothingness, I gave up on it. Then a group of people joined and immediatly started fighting. It looked like no effort was put into it.
2) No rules.
I had rules, nobody followed them.
1) No plot.
It had as much of a plot as ZOIDS season 2! (The afternoon one)
Oh, and I'm 'slamming' how annoying all this is. How would you like it if you poured your heart and soul and some punk came up in there with a post that says "i shot u i win hah loser"? Hmm?
This is very hard to address without saying names. War of the Elements blew, and ZT turned into a mess. I agree with you fully.

[_______ presses a button and his comand system unfreases!]

*cough*

As long as some people don't go crazy, my next RPG will go well, and it won't spam up your forums.

Heh, gouf, don't worry about Raiha.... As you may have noticed, she can get....ahh.......a little ahead of herself...

So, to make my point, I would like for one of the Staffers who can to lock this thread. There really isn't a point to post in it anymore. If someone has a question about the guidelines, they can PM one of the G&S Staffers, or even me. Seeing as how I wrote 'em.....:D
