Guest Golgo 13
Has shenmue been permanently stopped on the dreamcast because some one told me it would be coming out on the XBOX and i also heard it would have english voice overs instead of japanese like the last game, ashame usa gamers never got it but can some one give me an update of when the game is gonna come out on the XBOX or dreamcast for that matter. So, your doubts aren't properly thought out.
Charles
The game essentially resembles a direct DreamCast port to me. Although, Yu Suzuki said that the game will make use of some of the Xbox's capabilities, including pixel shaders.
Red
Sega originally planned to make 7-9 Shenmue games, but with the recent demise of the Dreamcast (as brilliant as it may be) it hasn't been confirmed if Sega will make more Shenmue games for other systems. I don't think we've heard the last of it though...
Guest ProudClod
Nine shenmue games Elite? I thought it was 16! Its true, shenmue will only be released on the xbox as of now. But I really wish it would stay on the dreamcast, I HATED the english voices, the japanese ones sounded much better, but since its exclusive to xbox, and that microsoft are LOADED, well only hear it in english.....oh well..... I dont want to pay for 19 games anyway! 9 is good enough for me lol!!
James
There are 16 chapters of the Shenmue story. And the first game included Chapter 1: Yokosuka. However, some games will include three or four chapters. :) This is where the number 16 comes from. In reality, it will probably be about five or six actual games.

Think about it, chapter 1 was three disks long, as was chapter 2 (damn that long qte on disk 3!), but if a couple are on one game, these chapters could be much shorter. Unless they make each game with nine disks (three per chapter). Id rather pay for sixteen games for the full shenmue experience.
Red
Shenmue part 1 was a groundbreaking game, with not only graphics but gameplay too. I hope they bring out more chapters, but it would be good if they moved onto another person/s life or story, like Final Fantasy. I think it would work quite well.
Ben Holiday
I have seen a DC version but it was an import from europe I was considering picking it up because how great the original was but the $90.00 price tag at FuncoLand held me back.

Hmmm...I kind of know how you feel, I paid 70 pounds for my american shenmue copy, it was worth it since I got it a couple of months before the UK release date. Why dont you pick it up, pay for it, try to complete within a month, and then return it. That always works for me, lol. As for the next shenmue game, lets just hope for Japanese voice overs. btw. Do you think Ren and Chai will play a part in the shenmue series, theres a really big build up towards the two, and I'll be really dissapointed if they're not.
