There will be a Matrix game coming to the gamecube and is being developed as you read this post. Infogrames claimed that this game will never be released on the xbox (not sure about ps2), making it nintendo exclusive so far. The Matrix game is based on the eagerly awaited forthcoming prequel The Matrix: reloaded. Better yet there is soon to be a second Matrix game based on the sequel The Matrix revolution.

I think the only way they could make this game is the way Max Payne was with the bullet time dodge and shoot, with freedom of the playable character as googd mgs2, and punch and kick combos like in the bouncer (although I never managed to do one!).
This game can be a real success, even since the movie is the best selling DVD at the moment, and can really introduce something new to the gaming community.

I hope they give it a slightly different "feel" to Max Payne, I think it would ruin the overall performance if The Matrix played like it. Other than that, I think this was bound to happen, lets just hope that they don't make another awful game using a movie license.

Thats true, most movies, cartoons, etc. that are interpretated to games turn out to be rubbish. One thing that scares me is if square decide to make a game out of ff: the spirits within, that would put final fantasy's reputation down the drain.

I havent seen shots for the matrix game, burt if its the same storyline of the film, which it is. then it shall be too predictable, not giving gamers that feeling of suspense. :(

Ummm.... i have no idea where you got this information, but i've been looking around at IGN.com and the last thing reported on the game was the news of Infogrames buying the rights to The Matrix, nothing about Infogrames claiming that it is exclusively GCN's. Please alert me to where you recieved this information, i would like to read up on the subject...

I origanally got my sources from the official nintendo magazine, but since I cant prove that to you (unless youve seen the latest mag), I decided to show this link instead:

This has got different info to the mag, but I dont see why it shouldnt be released on xbox, ps2, and gc.

Interesting, it feels intruiging to be playing the game version of my all time favorite movie.

Although it sounds like a dream come true, I do agree that when movies are converted to games, scary things can happen. It most specifically may hold the creators back from their full potential, meaning that they are restricted from possible levels or gameplay intensity, unless otherwise having the same characters but a different story. Also, it is possible that Neo will not make an appearence. Sure, he is the main character, but as many of you know, Tom Cruise will not be in the "Minority Report" game due to the movie license.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Unless you are saying that this game will be in development until late 2003, I sincerely doubt that the movie will come out before it and ruin the plot. Either way, however, the story will be revealed in the first, spoiling it for the next.

I hope that the game will not be exclusive to GameCube. I understand that this would be a great title for Nintendo to cherish, but then those who don't own GameCubes, such as myself, will not have the experience of it, and the last thing those who made the box office hit, The Matrix, will want to do is hold it's sequal's game to one system. They will want as much money as the can get their hands on, and even if it does not come to XBox, Playstation 2 and GameCube alone could bring them glory.

I thank you for this news.

EDIT: I just read the article found through the link you provided, and it contradicts most of what you just said. Not only is it also coming to PS2, Xbox, and PC, but it hints toward possible extra's on the XBox version. I don't know about you, but this comes as bad news to me.

By the way, the game is supposedly called "Enter The Matrix." Just thought you might want to know.

Ermm where exactly did you find this stuff???!?!?!!? The Matrix has been touted as an X-box exclusive since it was first announced!!! Not one GC magazine Ive read states that the Matrix is even coming to the Cube. I personally am not that bothered if it does as I own both consoles, but please check that your info is correct before starting a thread like this and preferably back it up with a magazine as websites cant always be trusted! And you say you got your info from the officail mag??? hummm well it seems that all the magazines have conflicting information but CUBE magazine hasnt mentioned it so Im not sure whether to believe this info. and according to XBM it will be released for the X-box sometime in the winter.

The link explained a lot for the other members of this thread, I dont know if it did for you, it was said in the June issue of the official nintendo magazine, that there will be a matrix game made exclusively for the GC, though the link says differently, we can all be sure that it will be out for the GC though. I too do not mind which of the three it is released on since I own all three of consoles.

The fact that Infrogames now owns the gaming rights to the matrix may have changed a lot of things, since they claim to release the matrix exclusively to the gamecube.

Is there any chance that it will be coming to Gameboy Advance? Also, when is the 2nd movie coming out? They're taking thier time. There's definetly a lot to fill a 2nd movie, they havn't touched on vehichles yet. Some really nice fast cars and/or motorcycles would be awsome.

The singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash a little while back, and she was supposed to star in the next matrix film, so it has been slightly delayed due to that, but Id say about sometime this year. Secondly, there has been no news about a GBA release so I cant really say anything about that.

To this date, the Matrix game was discussed only between the 3 next-generation consoles. That doesn't mean that it is deffinitly not coming to GameBoy Advance, but there has been no word of it so far.

Due to, as said previously, one of the main character in the second movie deing, the movie was drastically postponed. Supposedly, it was to be released in theatres Summer of 2001, but due to factors beyond anyone'sontrol, the set date is now Summer 2003, with back-to-back releases of the second and third movie. To learn more, look for it in the previews for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

I can't speak for the writer of the movie, but I do not think that they will be stressing vehicles as much as fighting and so forth. However, I do believe that it may be interesting for a scene or two to be about high-speed chases.
