Has anyone played Armored Core 2?

Well, I'm not an Armored Core fan, but I took the time to look up a good strategy for you.

I've read that his strategy of little hops is a very effective dodge for your EWG-HC-RAW so do not use it in this fight. If you have not upgraded at all before this fight, now is the time. A good strategy to beat it, is the following:

Equip the ZWX-IV/Pursuit and start the battle. The opponent will advance on your position and stop when they are at the base of the skyscraper. Once they have stopped moving, fire one shot of the ZWX-IV/Pursuit as close to their position as possible. If they do not move they can take up to roughly 2500 points of damage. Continue doing this until they are destroyed or they are so feeble you can drop down and finish them off. Fire wisely since you have only four shots.

I had this game once but sold it (I desperately needed money!). I really enjoyed it while it last though, im thinking of getting armoured core 3, but I read in the ps2 magazine that number 2 is much better so stick with it......what do you think?

Which PS2 magazine are you talking about ProudClod? (and what issue too) I'm surprized the game has been reviewed already and its been quite for a while now....

I have both AC2 and AC2: Another Age and remember Werehound. For a so called 'bully' he was garbage. Do what Crazy White Boy said, upgrade your mech. Get rid of weapons you don't use and get some better armor but not too heavy that you can't move quick enough and make sure you have that Blue machine gun (R arm weapon) and the Large Rocket Launcher. IF you can't get both then at least get the rocket launcher. I forgot its exact name but its a powerful/cheap weapon. What I suggest you do is you let him waste his ammo. Just keep your distance and dodge his attacks. Don't worry the A.I in this game is pretty dumb so he'll fire even if he's not locked on. If you don't know if he's out of ammo, there's a cockpit option that lets you know. Once he's out, he's a sitting duck.

This is my strategy on just about everybody. However let me do stress that if you're having problems with this guy.....you ain't seen nothing yet.......

You want strategy? Go to point blank range, and get direct hits with the Pod Missile Launcher. If all four of them hit, and you get a shot in with a Lazerblade, It'll be more than enough to kill anyone in the arena... It works, but I prefer real fighting. ^_^

Well, I definately want this game cuz I love amored core games. I don't know how OPM managed to get this game yet when it has even been released yet nor there's any talks that I've heard that its about to.

I find it hard to believe the game out today are better than AC3. From what I've heard so far, this game well be the best AC game yet. Being able to pick up and drop weapons and a faster pace of action are some of the stuff that I looking forward to. I guess I better go to my local video game store to make sure...

The other armored core game I'm also looking forward to is AC: Sigma Project. Time to see who's is mech is finally better online!

How to beat all arena opponents:

-Always fight in Etal Base; lotsa places to hide and dodge stuff, especially on top of the towers (IMHO)

-The key to this game, really, is to learn to evade attacks. Practice tapping the boosters while simultaneously strafing L or R to help you avoid fire

-It's possible to lure opponents out of the ring! If they leave the mission boundary, it's an automatic win for you! :toothy:

----------------------------------------------------

For Werehound, stay at a distance. If you eat up too much of his machine guns, you'll hit Output Down. Not good. Evade his attacks from the longest range as possible. Since you'll *hopefully* be quite a distance from Werehound, you'll need to use long range weapons like missiles or sniper rifles.

I have AC2, and it's pretty freaking fun, although I forgot a lot since my friend's been "borrowing" it for the past 6 months
>=(, anyway the arena depends on how you play. I tried a buncha strategies, light and fast, heavy and full of weapons, it all depends on what you're good at. In one of the arenas I flew up to the top of a tall tower (there were 2 or 3 in the field) and I managed to use a sniperish rifle to pick away the other guy's life. The laserblade is also extremely handy and u can often slice the crap out of them before they do anything. I managed to beat all of the arena people except that.....one bastard....forget his name but after you get #1 or beat the game (I forget), a few more challengers come, he's #55 or 65 or something and is INSANELY HARD! ugh too bad more equipment didn't open up, I have all this $$ and nothing to do with it ><

You mean Matthias (sp?) guy? Do you have the Karasawa MK2? It's a hidden weapon and arguably the best one in the game. Many call it 'cheap'. It helps a lot. To beat him, I found the best way was to dodge all of attacks first. Then, when he's out of ammo, he's an easy kill. :toothy: DO NOT ENGAGE AT CLOSE RANGE unless you're really, really good at dodging fast. Be patient, and the PLOW abomination will die.

armoured core 2 is terrible! The graphics are glitchy, the controls suck, and the music is too plain
the third one don?t look too promising either

Not really. AC2 had some slow-down issues, but that was remedied in AC2: AA, along with an improved polygon count. The graphics on AC3 will be even better. Besides, graphics don't make a game, IMO.

The controls suck

...For some. Some people just don't have what it takes to pilot an AC. It's not supposed to have extreme movement capabilities. That's not to say that handling an AC is like handling a "garbage truck", as EGM put it. One needs to fully utilize Boost, Overboost, and the strife buttons to move fluently. Pressing left on the controller to turn around 180 degrees IS a chore.

The music is too plain

I agree with you on this one. From Software really needs to work on this. :o

Ah.....vaporjolt why did you have to go a remind me of "PLOW"?:( I had an unpleasant experience at another message board (which I left since they keep making meaningless and the dumbest replies I've ever seen). I told them how to build my mech and they went bannanas because it was either overweight, plus or both (PL=plus, OW= overweight= PLOW). They even got mad when I called the Armored Core a mech!:rotflmao: Anyway, its just a game and I would love to fight these 'masters' when the series goes online. I don't care what my mech turns out to be, as long it does what its supposed to do: Kick *****!!!!

Matthis, yea I remember him. He was hard... even though he doesn't have many weapons, he still packs a beating. I killed him using the Kasawra with the parts that makes energy weapons shoot faster, take lesser energy and more ammo. After that, I just shoot like crazy while dodging his attacks. Funny though that in one battle we killed each other at the same time and I won thankfully.:toothy:

Yeah, the game is worth it if you like mechs and such. Its pretty hard to start from scratch and I usually port my saved game from the AC2 into AC2:AA. (You can port your mech with all your parts, cash and upgrades if any) There's about 92 one player missions and like 8 co-op. AC3 isn't coming out until September :( but I also hear so is the online version :) If you want AC2:AA then I recomend you get the first too if you wanna get the most out of it.
