A little thing I've always wondered...

NOTE- I know that Nintendo itself didn't do any of these games, they just published them.

Okay, now you all know of a company called Nintendo. This company is known for having it's Mario characters competing agaisn't each other in sports and parties. However, when it's time to put on the fighting gloves, Nintendo brings out it's greatest mascots to battle.

Now comes the part I've always been wondering about: Why doesn't Nintendo put it's many mascots in their other party games? I'd love to see Fox, Kirby, Link, ect. in games like Mario Party and Mario Kart.

So, what do you people think?

Well in a way joe, super smash brothers melee is sort of an all-nintendo characters party fest. First you have the four player vs. battle mode, then the adventure mode which is like a platform game of its own, but very limited, the special melee mode where you play with a special stipulation like all fighters are shrunk, and then theres the event matches which are like mini games where you have to win in a certain way. Regardless of all of that unlocking the character is a party of its own.

But if it helps, there will be a pokemon party game coming soon for gamecube.

You hit the nail. What I'm talking about is playing an all-nintendo racing fest, an all-nintendo tennis fest, ect.

I can already imagine Kirby cutting off Samus only to be blasted away by Mario's Super Scope.

I'm going to have to side with Proud here. Super Smash Bros. is the exception, not the other party games. Smash offers the chance to play an all out fighting melee with many different Nintendo mascots. Hopefully you can see that besides the highest known of Nintendo's mascots, these others are known for their taste in fighting. Can you picture Roy participating in a Mario Party event, or Samus Aran playing tenis? Sorry to say this, but I can't. These other party games are still doing their job, they are still offering all Nintendo characters, maybe just not as many as some may like. Besides, that is what makes Super Smash Bros. so good. If every Nintendo party-game did that, then what would be so specail about Smash?

:blah:

I don't think having Nintendo mascots play against each other in games other than fighting any fun... Just thinking Link in a gokart trying to race Mario, Kirby and watnot is pretty boring. I already have Mario Kart for that. Melee is an exception since it involves many aspects and being fun to play even though its just mostly a fighting game.

I'm going to have to agree with most of the others on this.

In a fighting game it is possible for the characters to exhibit unique abilities and advantages based on background environments.

While such a thing may be possible in a board game or racing format, the impact just wouldn't be there. Quite frankly, there's only so much one can do to make playing as a multitude of characters a fun and unique experience.

As you may notice in Mario Kart or Mario Party, Nintendo doesn't make much of an effort to cram a vast number of chracters into the game, because there really isn't a need to.

Lastly, it's more fun to think about who would win in a fight between Mario and Link rather than seeing who would cross a finish line first or win a board game. Hehe, anyway, board games usually depend on luck anyway. Unique character abilities based on stages and whatnot, would only cause frustration among the people actually playing the game. After all, who wants to face unfair disadvantages in a freakin' board game?

Sorry, but I can't imagine Link racing around in a car. ^^ That's probably why they did SSB, because Link and Fox and Samus look funny in little color-coded carts! :D
Would you say this about Mario, if were one of Nintendo's fighting mascots, and Links one of Nintendo's racing mascots? Just wondering....

We've been so used to what each mascot is, i.e Link a fighting mascot, Toad a racing mascot, etc..., that we can't imagin what they would look like in other genres of games.

....yeah well that's my opinion. :toothy:

Yeah, I know, we see mascots as what they are, not as what else they could be...SSMBM gave us the chance to see non-fighting mascots actually fight, like Peach. Mario Kart let us see non- racing mascots race, like Bowser.

There are many possibilities that Nintendo can have for all of its macots. But Id say that Nintendo should finish of its current projects like Metroid and Sunshine.

Now, I see where you are coming from with this, and I agree. The only difference would be the charactor model, nothing that special. Plus they would have to make the bigger, taller models smaller to fit into the cart correctly and I bet that would look pretty funny. All in all, I would like to play tennis as Link and race with Samus Aran. But I just can't see it happening in the near future.
