tronix
I have Spiderman on my Dreamcast as i am a big fan. And i went and saw the movie today, and after, played spiderman on XBOX on the demo. However i was dissapointed with it. The camera angle dosn't automatically switch around so you face the bad guys, so if you swing in on a enemy and drop just after where he's standing, you wont be facing him and you have to press a button every time which makes it annoying and less flowing a manouvere. Also, when webbing across a room whislt holding the button down, spiderman dosn't swing normally, instead he swings upwards. Not to mention the fact that the XBOX is supposed to have these amazing graphics, but i don't think they're any better than Dreamcasts. What do XBOX users think? And who made this game? Charles
Well, the graphics are definitely superior to the DreamCast version. A mere glimpse at the outdoor environments will tell you that much. Furthermore, the Xbox version is slightly superior to both the GameCube and PS2 versions in terms of grahpics. Plus, it has two exclusive stages. I know that it's not much, but there are in fact, some minor enhancements. I liked how the concept of stealth was incorporated into the game, though it was quite flawed. Overall it was a nice idea, but just ended up falling flat on it's face. The camera angles, like you mentioned, can be a little frustrating, but that's a problem amongst most third person games. Overall, I would say that the game was just "good." It's not a must buy, but certainly a nice game for fans of everyone's favorite web slinger. In all honesty, I was a bit surprised at the quality of the game, seeing as how it is based on a movie and was released simultaneously for all three consoles. RicoTranzrig
The X-box version is the "cleanest" out of the three b/c of the supeiror hardware...the coding's (by Activision?) pretty much the same for all three though it was kinda like the original Spiderman with almost identical graphics except the poly count and resolution was bumped up along with the frame rate and textures. It was a good game overall...not really a keeper though.
Z.Z.
I agree with Rico about the Graphic, but the camera and the fighting system on the ground was pretty annoying.
Charles
Originally posted by Z.Z. The graphics were more than just an increase in polygon count and higher resolution. Spiderman's costume for instance was very detailed, down to the stitching and reflective eyes. The character model resembled the movie counterpart very closely. Plus, the reflections on the buildings, lighting effects and overall scope of the outdoor environments blew away anything that the PSX hardware was capable of. Overall, the costumes, scenery and ambiance stay true to that of the movie. I agree with the game being similar in terms of gameplay, as there is plenty of punching, kicking and web slinging. But, the game does make a nice visual mark on all three consoles.
