I'll definitely be getting it.

Although the development cycle for each Tony Hawk game isn't incredibly long, Activision manages to make great sequals.

Tony Hawk 4 will differ from it's predecessors in that the levels will be gigantic and ther will be no time limit. As the player completes tasks, new geometry will be available in the level.

Also, we'll be seeing new tweaks to the gameplay. The "bail" button and the spine transfer will really freshen up the gameplay.

Right now, I'm really enjoying Aggressive Inline. It has a lot of features that Tony Hawk 4 will have, like the huge environments and the bail buttons.

It's really difficult though....

All the Tony Hawks games seem to be the same to me, but I have to admit that THPS4 looks like something else, well in that screen shot, hes riding outside (for once), lol. The graphics look amazing, and the fact that you now have to concentrate on building up the stages rather than just the characters.

Id have to say that I enjoy and pefer Tony Hawks much more than to snowboarding games, all but SSX Tricky, mainly because you would find TH much more aggressive, and less repetetive, but none the less TH and Tricky are pretty much in their own leagues.

Both games are great but between the two, SSX gets more points for originality, why? well SSX has the unique uber tricks which means you can break dance, or somersault off the board while in mid-air, which is what gave Tricky most of its points in its review. TH doesnt have much to offer tricks wise, just pretty much complete the game and try to get the most points.

As cwb said, the game is pretty hard to control, which makes it that much more challenging than Tricky.

I'm also looking forward to aggressive inline, it looks fresh and incorperates gameplay elements THPS can't provide.

As for THPS4, I like the new gameplay system. You start as a rookie, and you skate around each level looking for people to give you challenges, e.g grind along a table they choose. The level doesn't have a time limit, only when someone gives you a challenge does the time limit start.

As you complete challenges/tasks, you get a bigger reputation and your skills improve, until you become a pro.

According to Neversoft, they scrapped the old engine and started over from scratch.

Also, the objectives revolve much more on other characters than before. And some objectives have you doing tricks on moving objects (in one, you must go from the beginning to the end of a parade float).

ugh, they're going overboard with the THPS series, a fifth one has already been confirmed....
I'm a little on the fence with the constant release of so many Tony Hawk games.

On one hand, Neversoft and Activision manage to release high quality sequels that manage to remain fun due to ingenious level design and tweaks to the gameplay. Without question, every Tony Hawk game has managed to maintain the pure fun of gaining a high score. That one factor alone, takes me back to the days of gaming past.

Yet, I would really like to see what a Tony Hawk game would look like after a couple years of development time, as opposed to a single year, if that. Eventually, we may get too much of a good thing and the games won't be "special" anymore.

Still, I advise everyone to check out the fourth game.

For instance, Smokey Joe brings up a good point. As I said in a thread I made about the game in the Sony forum, one of the coolest aspects is the level of interaction with the characters populating the worlds. Now, instead of just plowing them down, you can initiate a conversation and participate in contests or task challenges. The professional skaters themselves feature authentic spoken dialogue. So, if you want to chat it up with Bob Burnquist (yep, he's back) you're free to do so.

Lastly, the addition of mini games is sure to crank up the multiplayer value.

The announcement of a fifth game and the reported quality of Tony Hawk 4 leaves me wondering if the Neversoft employees are kept in cages or something.

I hope 4 well be good, who doesnt? I really liked 3, I just hope that they make 4 a little more realistic, because in the others it makes it possible for you to grind on a piece of thread whcih isnt possible, and it makes it so that you can ollie out of a boardslid which also isnt possible, they also ollie baout 6 to 8 feet high.

Well, Krillen, unrealism is what Neversoft has in mind. However, if you want realistic physics (sp?), just activate the cheat in THPS 3.

Well, in all honesty, since the single player game is being totally overhauled, the game should really add a new flavor.

It is a little disappointing that no online plans have been announced for the GameCube or Xbox versions of the game though.
