Kent Posted June 15, 2002 Share Posted June 15, 2002 i dont know, but i saw a show on discovery with a scientist taking about use all living the same amount of time in relitivity to the number of heart beats we have during our lives. a mouse has one heart rate and a dog has another. different human years but roughly the same number of heart beats in those years. probably only applies to mammals, but interesting theory none the less. I also heard that cat years are nine years compared to one human year. And it's how fast their body ages, as Ted mentioned before.... It's pretty funny, I mean, our dog lived 'till it was 29 in human years....so what, that means something 60 years old in dog years? Whoa.... True they age faster, but I understand that 20 human years is old for a dog. See, no need for animal years. Its like Heinz 57, there is more work involved then there should be. I know that's pretty old to be buying a dog, but they wanted an experienced guard dog (lol). So they bought this one....and it lived for about another 18-19 years after that. I know it used to be the seven rule but i heard of a new one just the other day. Take your pets age multiply by five add nine then divide by two to get their age. Wierd aint it? Since they live shorter lives, we do the math to figure out how old they would be if we lived as long as them, or vice versa.
