I need help. I havent played pokemon for about a year, and need to know what pokemon I should use to fight Mewtwo.

Can someone recommend to me which pokemon I should catch and train, what levels they should be and what moves they should have?

Any help would be greatly appriciated...:)

One of them is Jolteon with Pin missles. Also ghost types. You need a a special defence pokemon to stop mewtwo's special attacks.Like Blissey. But you need to raise Blissey's defence. It's the worst in that area.Teach Blissey softboiled. Also get misdreavus. He's a ghost type and helps you win against Psychics like Mewtwo.Teach Misdreavus Shadow Ball and Psychic. These 3 pokemon are good. But if you're talking about R/B/Y and not G/S/C then give me some time. But get Jolteon with pin missle.

Well, I can help with R/B/Y. I have a few Pokèmon on my team that are just there to take out Mewtwo. I call them Mewtwo Busters.

1. Snorlax. Simply the bomb. If you have Body Slam and it paralyzes this Mewtwo, you have the match in the bag.

2. Jolteon. Like G/S/B said, teach it Pin Missle. In R/B/Y, it's the best attack to use against as Mewtwo. Thunder Wave works nicely with it.

3. Starme. It's got resistance to Psychic, since it itself if part Psychic. It should last a little while.

4. Alakazam. Thunder Wave + lvl 100 Seismic Toss = Slow and Painful Death

Hope that helps.

*cough* Okay, since you're going for Crystal, I just say get a Tyranitar. One should be enough to take care of a Mewtwo. And to catch a Misdreavous if you wish to use it, they are found (I think) in Silver Cave at night.

I think that pin missle is overrated. I have never seen it do substantial damage to any psychic, but I don't think very highly of the Eevees. In my experience the best Mewtwo killers are Starmie and Zapdos. Starmie has powerful attacks, and good resistance to physic attacks. Zapdos has extremely powerful moves, and if he is able to get a thunder or two in, it is likely that Mewtwo will be reeling in pain.

I have a team for ya.
lvl 100 Alakazam w/ psychic and pschic wave
lvl 100 Blastoise w/ hydropump
lvl 100 Typhlosion w/ flame thrower and fire blast
lvl 100 Snorlax w/ Bodyslam
lvl 100 Blissy w/ softboiled
lvl 100 jolteon w/ pin missle

If you want to get lvl 100 R/B pokemon, do the infinant item cheat w/ a rare candy.

Doing that makes your Pokèmon weak. It's stats would be lower than if you raised it the normal way. Same goes with traded Pokèmon.

Nah, I don't want you to do any cheats. I did that before and my game was deleted. Also, Mewtwo can't be found in G/S/C. Only R/B/Y. I defeated Mewtwo in Yellow with these Pokemon: Hypno, Butterfree, Dodrio, Pikachu, Dewgong, and Seadra. However, the Pokemon I think you should use are as follows: Use a lot of Psychic Pokemon. Mewtwo's psychic attacks won't affect them. Just make sure they know non-psychic attacks. Ghost Pokemon are NOT a good choice, since the only Ghost Pokemon in R/B/Y are Gasly, Haunter, and Gengar. All of them are Poison-type, and Poison Pokemon are weak against psychic attacks. Also, Ghost attacks do not affect Psychic Pokemon. They do in G/S/C, however. Some good Pokemon to use are Alakazam, Starmie, and Hypno. Make sure Hypno knows Hypnosis. Also make sure Starmie knows a powerful water attack such as Hydro Pump. Exeggutor with a grass attack (and Hypnosis or Sleep Powder) will also work. Don't use Slowbro though. Good luck!

You know, Misdreavus is a pure ghost type, so it wouldn't be weak to Mewtwo's psychic type attacks... I'm not sure if it's very strong, though, since I don't have one yet...

And he's probably looking for a G/S/C team because one of his friends or someone traded his/her Mewtwo from R/B/Y to G/S/C, and he wants to be able to stand a chance against it. And you can trade Pokémon from G/S/C to R/B/Y, they just can't be one of the new Pokémon or have any of the new moves.

Of course, Mewtwo can't be found in the wild in G/S/C. There's no Misdreavus in R/B/Y! No Dark Pokemon either!!! Ghost attacks don't work on Psychic Pokemon in R/B/Y. Mewtwo is DEFINITELY easier to beat in G/S/C. You should also use level 100 Pokemon, or 80 is fine. The Mewtwo in R/B/Y is at level 70. It knows Psychic and Recover; I forget which other attacks it knows. You can use Ice Pokemon (preferrably Jynx); if they know Ice attacks, they might freeze Mewtwo. Then he can't battle!!! I was once battling my friend who had a L100 Mewtwo, and I freezed him. Then I beat all the other Pokemon (including a level 100 Mew!), and the only Pokemon my friend had left was the frozen Mewtwo. He had to quit the battle because my level 50 Pikachu just barely had enough Power Points for Thunderbolt, all of which did little damage to Mewtwo. He was surprised when I won! My highest level Pokemon was a level 74 Hypno!!!

Alright, I have this team so far:

1 Scyther
2 Jolteon
3 Misdreavus
4 Starme
5 Hypno
6 Blissey

Thats it for now. That Mewtwo I am scheduled to battle, it is a level 100 *gulp*. I am going to have to fight it tommorow, so wish me luck (last minute advice is welcome!)

Misdreavus must HAVE pain split. It could probelby do critical damage to Mewtwo. If Misdreavus's HP is low and Mewtwo's HP is around over 3/4.Then use Pain Split right away if you think Misdreavus is going to die in the next turn! Then continue with the attacks. Now good luck battling.

The Pokémon that you listed..... You started catching them in the Wrath of Mewtwo RPG, is that the Mewtwo you are talking about?
Well, I am using them for the RPG, but my main reason for posting this thread was to get the right pokeon to defeat my friends Mewtwo, which I did!

Thanks to all who helped, especially G/S/B Master, whose tip saved my butt.
