Kent
yea the movie is gonna be a big embarrasment to the loyal fans. too bad because dbz is one of the best shows ever and their is so much room to make something cool its just that you cant do anime in live action style and expect something good. i say you keep going back and check for other stuff. if you find anything post it. we will all love that. Transtic Nerve
There was no DragonBall live action movie released in Japan... It was released in China... and then in other countries including the US... you can buy the DVD on rightstuf.com I think... it's funny though.... I wouldn't waste the movie. Charles
The Universe will be theirs? That slogan leaves a lot to be desired. The Z-Warriors never collectively search for the balls in order to take over the universe. I'm willing to bet that a lot of characters will be cut. I can't see how they would fit the character development of the series into one movie.
Justin
Like I said, it's probably going to go under. Since DBZ is a lot broader(character-wise) than MK or SF, for example, I doubt the movie will be nearly what the show is. Plus, I can't think of many actors that would actually fit the bill for a few of the Z-Warriors. -Justin
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
Well that poster is obviously a fake the 20th Century Fox logo they only put that logo on their dvds, and videos! Another thing that gives it away is the fact the American Live Action Dragon Ball Z movie is not set to begin production until 2003-2004, so even advertisment wise it would be to early to make a poster for a movie that is almost 3 1/2 years away! Also to correct some people here, yes I did see a "Dragon Ball" Live action movie made in Hong Kong called Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins! I saw that five years back and it was really not worth a purchase or a rental, also since the Japanese studio did not give the Hong Kong makers the right to use the real names of the characters you will see various name changes including the name of the dragon Balls which are called Dragon Perls! Hope this clarifies every misconception here, and once again yes the pic is a fake, nice try to whoever made that poster! ;)
Guest GriffXL
ya and goku's name is monkeyboy and master roshi's is turtleman and he is wearing goggles if i remember(i feel like i have said this before).Anyways it does make sense that that pic is a fake if they are not producing untill 2003.But and there is always a but, maybe they wanted to get our curiosity up and make us want to see the movie because they probably know that we think its going to be a failiure. Lady Macaiodh
here's my crappy opinion. 1) there's no way this is the same movie released in other countries b/c if so they'd have to subtitle it for the US & they only do that for artsy-fartsy type movies (mostly). also, this pic is aimed at young people, like young teenagers, & there's no way they'd sub a movie like that. you'd miss a lot of action. it's not like watching it on a video at home. 2) i doubt they will make a new villain. they're going to take the existing characters & twist it all around to make a different story. & they're going to ruin it, too, just like they ruined green goblin & lex luthor & mr. freeze & all the millions of other characters we know & love--just to make $$. did you see queen of the damned?? it didn't follow the original story at all. 3) you have to be watching the show from the beginning (like, from the first ep. of the original db) to understand the camaraderie & rivalry between all the characters & why they bicker back & forth & so on. but people (like critics) who don't watch it are going to call it stupid & rake it through the coals, & that is going to seriously piss me off, whether the movie sucks or not. it would be like if someone who never watched dbz saw the garlic jr saga & said dbz was a sucky show. even though garlic jr saga does pretty much suck, if that's all someone saw of dbz, they could make gross generalizations b/c of it. so this movie could turn a lot of potential dbz fans off the show. 4) unless they animate it in some way, it's not going to look right. i mean, how are they going to make the hair wave around when they turn ssj, & stuff like that? what about piccolo? are they going to put green body make-up on somebody? & krillin! they can't find a good "vertically challenged" person that can do all that stuff! not to insult anyone, but i really don't think they can. & there are a ton of other examples. well, rick, i hope you're right & they're not rushing the production, b/c there are a lot of ways they could screw this up. i have my fingers crossed, but i'm not holding my breath. & thank you for your time. Justin
They could always get Mini-Me from Austin Powers and throw him in as Krillen! I'm just joking... And that goes back to what I was saying: There are several characters who I can't see as being real-life actors. Like Gokou, for example. Sure, there are people who could meet the requirements, but can you honestly name me one actor who would seem right as Gokou? -Justin

Justin
That's if they HAVE Goten. That's another thing, when in the DBZ Timeline, will the movie take place? Oy, so many possibilities. I think I'm thinking about this too much, lol. -Justin
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
 Well its rather funny that this is one of the only times a person really has to put some thought into dbz, not sure exactly what timeline it will take place in or who they will cast details are very sketchy so far, personally if they really wanted to make a good dbz film they could have at least done it in full cgi, or at least go the old school way an animate, its amazing how animation has improved just take VHD: Bloodlust for example! As far as casting goes, I really have no clue who you could get to play the characters, hmm maybe william defoe(sp?) he seems to play a pretty decent villian, I know lets get Toby to play teenage Gohan    ! This movie is going to be really disappointing, there are plenty of good scripts and fanfics that would make a better dbz movie then whatever creative minds come together for this live action version! I should stop ranting now!;)
Kinetic
Even my crappy fanfics >.< But yes, there is no way that you can recreate an animated show into a live action movie. First of all: No matter what graphic skills you have, the kamehameha's are going to suck. Sedondly: The hair! They will not be able to do hair. And thirdly: There is going to be bad acting, especially if they use the dubbed lines >.< That's just my two cents. -Chibi
Shinobi
Yup, it's gonna suck, it would b realy good if they made it like how Final Fantasy turned out :D, but its never gonna happen. Also people were saying how will they make Piccolo green?, Hey take a look at The Hulk, that looks sweet and they made him green! but i hear what yall are saying, and yup it gonna suk big syle. I wish they would just animate it. Why they gonna ruin this?, Also were i live, i'll go and see it and there will be screaming children everywhere, DBZ aint a very populare thing with my age, i dunno why, its aimed at us, anyway enough of the blabbering, its gonna suck :p
Schrat
I think the movie will be alright, the poster looks cool. When are they going to start it from, like from what point in the series?

JCBaggee
Methinks that's not Gohan, but Vegeta. That looks like a scouter over that eye, and the crosshairs only cement that. But very cool. Maybe the series will take a mystical, almost gothic approach. That might be kind of neat(assuming this is real).
Angedramon
I'm gonna try to be positive about this movie (which might be a little hard). If they can get the right people, heaven only knows who, to do that characters it might work out. The Kamehameha and the like could be done if they use the CG effects well. As for Krillin's, ahem, height problem, they could use the traditional blue/green screen effect like they did in the past 'Indian In The Cupboard' movie. As far as the hair goes, I have no idea whatsoever as to how they're planning on pulling off that. I mean, Goku and Vegeta don't exactly have the easiest hairstyle in the world. Sorry if these sound lame, but I'm trying to be optimistic about this. We probably won't know for another two years or so. Until I see the finished product, I'm not gonna judge. But if it's like the previous attempt, I'm gonna ignore it.
Guest GriffXL
final fantasy looked good but was boring and a waste of time and money.the whole krilling thing maybe they'll find a kid with a man's voice or something. Also they are going to need speacial effects for the hair.the hair is going to be the hardest part.kamehamehas can be done easily.it might turn out good fox made x-men and that was pretty good.cyclops' little eye beam thingy was pretty good. SSJ Gotenks ok
Which saga do u think would be the easiest to make into a movie???I would have to say the garlic jr. because they could just get a midget and put some make-up on him and the villain is set.:D
Super Trunks
Originally posted by Blackhawk Is it just me or is that a big eye? anyway just my opion but I think this movie will blow unless it done in CG like Final Fantasy was. I don't understand how they will make Super sayains with live actors. I guess we can only wait and see.
They can easily make Super Saiyans with a graphic program. I was reading a Wizard: Anime Invasion, and even in that low budget magazine, they made people look SSJ with graphics. But, I really hope they keep this movie true to the series, I would probably go all crazy in the theater if it's as bad as Street Fighter. :p
eleanor
Maybe I'd be better as CGI, like FInal Fantasy. I thought Final Fantasy was a good movie. ....ah whatever, it's just my crappy opinion.
Impact Player
I don't even know why there going to make a movie for DBZ if FUNimation already destroyed the series.
Guest GriffXL
funimation didnt destroy it.It made it the best anime in u.s. and got me off of ronin warriors (even though that was pretty good). But lets stay on the topic.Maybe the will have cgi for like the near immpossible stuff.I hope it isnt all talk like final fantasy was. Acid
No Funi didn't destroy it, to many it's the best series around. I for one don't like what Funi did with it. But if I never saw the dubbed version I would have never been able to buy the subbed version. :sticks toung out:
