These are two better pics of Mario using the "propel" nozzle as a type of water ski. I guess on land it acts as more of a boost pack.

All the shots you really could want to see... lots are pretty new:

Thanks for those shots. The last one makes Mario look like a seal. ;)

But seriously, those pictures are a lot clearer than anything I seen him do still framed. Come to think of it, I havn't really heard that much about the propel option. Looks cool, but also seems like it'd waste your water.

Ummm...I'm sorry, but whatever happened to the classic jump-on-their-head-'til-they're-dead? In Mario 64, you used your fists, in Luigi's mansion, you used a vacuum as Luigi. Now Mario's using a spray gun!!!! Why do they change classics? And Zelda foe the NGC...n/m. Not here. Just...WHY DON'T THEY BRING BACK CLASSIC MARIO??? I don't want a game where this imposter sprays gunk, and I end up being a janitor! I don't like it enough to do anything but rent it when it comes out, though I must admit the graphics rule for a Mario game.

I went to link that Semjaza Azazel posted and i found this picture.

From that picture (If I posted it right) it looks like you can only use the rocket nozzle when you can find the rocket icon. But it may just be that in the shot they are finding the rocket nozzle to add to their collection.

Although the very next picture they had was this one.

And now it makes me think that you can use the rocket nozzle at any time after you get it.

Luigi's Mansion is a Luigi game. I don't remember using Mario for even 2 seconds.
And I remember jumping on enemies on Mario 64, as well as seeing jumping kills in the SMS videos.

They are bringing him this Friday on Japan.

1. You are not a janitor. You only have to clean when the gunk is blocking your way.
2.You don't want an imposter, but you prefer fighting Bowser 1,000,000,000 times?

Well, at least you'll give it a chance.

Damn right.

I got some more pictures for everyone. And a few more questions that no one will want to answer.

Well, it looks like the water mario had a bit of painting to do in this shot. It looks like it is covered in the paint stuff that was in the screen shot Debreko posted.

in this pic you can clearly see that is does say Hungry while you ride yoshi. And my guess is that it is a meter for how long you can ride yoshi without him eating something.

well, all that is happening here is that Mario is finding a new nozzle

In this one it doesn't say Hungry, now it says Juice. And you ride a different colored yoshi. So my guess is that the hungry and juice goes by color. And you can also see that the fruit above the juice is all the way up so it looks like it could be a meter.

This one just confused me. We are thinking that the imposter Mario is evil. Yet he is standing right next to Peach and Toad and they don't seem to look scared. So how bad can he be?

Umm... Smoky Joe, I meant that as Luigi, you use a vacuum. No jumping. In Mario is Missing (SNES) He jumped and killed goombas and koopas. In M64, I recall most enemies hurting me when I jumped on 'em. In SSBM, Mario's jumps DO NOT hurt anybody, not even a goomba, unless you press Down+A. And yes, there are goomas. And as for the Bowser thing, no. I'd rather a good sibling rivalry occasionally. And Kizu, about the last pic, ummm... a whole island confused the impostor for Mario, so why can't Peach and Toad?

I cannot say this for sure... But I've only seen Mario use the nozzle to clean up paint and mud around town (and on enemies). He also used it to fill up some pirhana plants. It's quite possible he still uses jumps to defeat enemies. I mean, there is a picture of Yoshi jumping on one and smashing it flat, so obviously it's still in the game somewhere.

And like ElvenFoxKnight said, everyone thinks Mario is responsible for the painting around town. So I'd guess they'd think the imposter was Mario in general. Maybe only you and Mario can see that he is fake? Dunno.

Also, that juice and hungry thing was a good idea. I was thinking that maybe you had to fill Yoshi's up with different things (such as food or juice), either to get people to help you or to perform certain moves. I don't quite get why the Yoshi Egg is thinking about pears though (which I'd guess is related to the whole juice thing).

Actually, anyone can jump on the Goombas in SSBM and kill them that way, without doing a move. :smirk: And lets see, enemies that you can kill in Super Mario 64 by jumping on them... Goombas, Koopas, Fly Guys, Lakitos, Spindrifts, Skeeters, Scuttle Bugs, Bookends, and Piranha Flowers... That's 9 out of a total of 20 enemies that can be killed, which is almost half. :smirk:

But anyway, my thoughts on the red Yoshi: I really hope that the different colors of Yoshis is the same as in Super Mario World, where they have different abilities (such as the red Yoshi being able to spit fireballs no matter what color shell it swollows). That would be really cool, because then you'd get different abilites with the water pack, along with different colored Yoshis with different abilites! And if you can use the water pack while riding a Yoshi... That just makes for even more possibilities...

For the "hungry" and "juice," I'm thinking that that means that Yoshi is either hungry or thirsty... Either that, or you have to find specific kinds of food...

And about the imposter standing right next to Peach and her butler, I agree with ElvenFoxKnight. They probably have been fooled, just like the villagers. That seems to make the most sense, anyway.

I saw this on Gaming-Age last night.

In SSBM you would get an Olimar Trophy if you had a Pikmin save on your card. There are also trophies for Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime.

Go there to see them. This is on NCLs site... so they are legit.

The whole Yoshi thing is really interesting.

I definitely think that fruit has a lot to do with it.

If you look at screenshots of the marketplace in Super Mario Sunshine, you can see different townsfolk selling various fruits in stalls.

I suspect that the fruit plays a big role with Yoshi.

I suspect that this information (including the Yoshi egg) hints at a possible Yoshi breeding feature, similar to Sonic's Chaos.

Perhaps different Yoshi's will have varying abilities that Mario will need to utiilize in his quest (like jc mentioned)? The possibility definitely sounds interesting. The fact alone that a picture of an egg was shown, makes that possibilty all the greater.

On a side note, has anyone seen pictures of a Koopa Troopa? With Bowser possibly being gone, I suspect these little buggers won't make an appearance. :nervous:

SMS was just shown at the World Hobby Fair in Japan, and was the most popular game there. People waited in line up to 75 minutes just to play the game, which had a 5 minute time limit. From IGN:

Here is a scan of the disc:

For those who are interested in importing... all the dialog is spoken in English, while the text is all in Japanese (other than some menu icons). From what I hear the voice acting is excellent, and the entire opening uses a lot of voice. I'm not sure how much voice the rest of the game uses though, other than Mario's yells and shouts (like in SM64). They used Charles Martinet for Mario's voice again though, and I think Leslie Swan is Peach again as well.

The best thing I have heard so far is that the stages in this game are several times bigger than the ones in SM64 :).

Famitsu Cube (this is NOT Famitsu, which is the one most people care about) gave SMS a 36/40 (I believe a 10, 10, 8 and 8). It's not perfect, but their (the two guys who gave it an 8)ONLY problem with it was that it is too hard. Seems like a dumb reason to give a game an 8.

I'm glad this game is going to have some challenge honestly... I'm tired of Nintendo's easy games since the N64 days.

Yeah, unless a game is insanely hard, I don't think that should influence the score much. But yeah, it'll be nice to have an actual challenge again. I wonder if it's going to be as hard as the original Super Mario Bros.? That was pretty hard and it took me a long time to get very far (of course, I was pretty little, and just starting to play video games). I never have beaten it, actually...

But anyway, back on topic! :twitch: I'd say that Super Mario 64 was both hard, and easy... It's pretty easy to beat the game, but collecting all 120 Power Stars can be pretty hard... I'm wondering just how much harder Super Mario Sunshine will be, and how long/how many times through it'll take me to master it. It took about five times through Super Mario World to master it, and about three for Super Mario 64. Maybe Super Mario Sunshine will be about five again, like Super Mario World...

For those interested in importing, all dialog + some text in the game is in English.
I'm ordering the ***. version today, and my Freeloader is arriving first week of August, so be prepared for a lot of praising on my hand.

Note- *SPOILER*
Professor E. Gadd not only created Mario's gadget, but he created the brush that Water Mario uses.
Oh, and did you know that Water Mario is actually Bowser's son disguised thanks to the special brush?
Could this mean the return of the Koopa Kids?

Well, for those interested...it appears that there are about 12 levels with 10 Shines in each level. So we're looking at about 120 Shines...similar to the previous Mario 64, but this time, the game is apparently significantly harder (and the levels are several times bigger).

I can't wait. :) It really sounds like this game is injecting some much needed challenge...

Yeah, each level has 9 Shines... plus another Shine you get for collecting all the coins in the level.

I found something about Yoshi and juice at Gaming-Age... and Nintendojo (blah).

Apparently, the color of Yoshi is affected by what sort of fruit he eats. That pic is from Nintendojo, and they have some more as well. So if you ate an orange fruit, Yoshi would change orange and be able to spit orange juice. I guess all it is used for is to clean paint though, since you can't use your water pack on Yoshi. Of course he can still eat enemies :).

I WANT MY FIREBALLS, DANGIT!!! Why did they bother putting in Yoshi, if he doesn't have cool abilities?! Sure, he can eat enemies, but you can kill enemies without Yoshi, too... *sigh* ...I guess he does have some uses, but I really wanted to see a flying Yoshi in 3D, and other stuff like that from Super Mario World...

Another thing I'm wondering about... What are those blue coins for? Right below where it shows how many Shines you have, there's blue coins, and then normal gold coins.

As far as coins goes, I know that ten red coins equals a shine...and I think five blue coins equals a shine as well.

The thing is, you don't need to get them all from one level...you can get them from multiple levels (so, 4 from level 1 and 2 from level 3, for example).

Furthermore, I have some interesting information regarding the game's difficulty from Gamers.com:

Gamers.com
As you might be aware, Famitsu Cube gave Mario 10/10/8/8. The two 8s were apparently because the second half of the game is too hard. Frustratingly hard, even. I didn?t think about it too much at the time (who knows, they might have been really awful gamers), but now I?m starting to think about it a bit. Because the game is getting hard. Very hard.

First off, calm down ? there?s been nothing extraordinarily hard, or unfair, just yet. And the difficulty has ramped up in a fairly smooth manner. But the fact is? it started pretty high in the first place. The game is a lot harder than Mario 64, and I like it for that. But if I?m only ? presumably ? at best a third of the way in, how hard will this game get by the end? Will it get too hard, as Famitsu have suggested? Food for thought.
Very interesting indeed.

I for one am VERY happy that this game is tougher than Mario 64. Mario 64 wasn't the easiest platformer on earth...but some of the older 2D Mario games got damn hard in certain places. And I really welcome this increase in difficulty.

I think most old school gamers would say that newer games are getting too easy. And in some ways, Mario 64 held the gamer's hand a little more than previous games in the series.

So, I'm very glad that Super Mario Sunshine is breaking that mould and attempting to go back to the series' roots...in terms of higher difficulty and challenge.

I do hope it is harder, as I agree, recent games have been getting easier in some aspects.

Still, I doubt it would be unbelieveably hard, but hopefully Nintendo will make it tougher than Mario 64. As a hardcore gamer, if Sunshine was hard I would find myself coming back to it again and again, purely for the challenge that it would provide.

I've been reading more impressions and it does seem that some areas of the game are really difficult.

Interestingly, some impressions that are 9/10 hours into the game are only about a third of the way through...so nobody has yet beaten the Japanese version.

This is really exciting for me, because it really demonstrates that Nintendo isn't afraid to put some challenge into this important title. I'm very glad about that.

I'm still considering whether or not to import the Japanese version.

Some importers have said that with the Japanese version, you have to work out a lot of stuff by yourself -- but this can make the game more challenging and more fun as well.

And that's interesting...it means that you can still see the story (as the story is in English) but you won't always know what certain indicators in the game mean.

So a lot of it is about experimentation and stuff...which is pretty cool, I think. It makes me want to get the Japanese version more than I did before.

But first, I need a freeloader and a new memory card...lol
