Super Mario Sunshine (Caution if using narrowband -- big images inside)

I think I can wait for the US version... which you should import as you can READ it lol.

Some people have just beaten the game in the past few days. The quickest I've heard was 20 to 25 hours. And that's ONLY to get to the end. It's not including collecting every shine and extra. There are rumors that you get some nice bonuses for 100% completion... but who really knows? I'd hope it would be more than a lifeless Luigi on a roof that will give you 99 lives (like Yoshi did in Mario 64).

Most of this game has not yet been shown. Official pictures only reflect like the first 3 levels. I, unfortunately, have accidently seen some of the stuff past those levels. Trust me, don't sreach for it. Just let it be a surprise when it happens.

I also had the story behind Water Mario ruined for me. I won't say anything about it, other than it was totally not what I expected at all. It wasn't even one of my guesses lol.

August 26th is soooooo far.

Well, yeah, August 26 is a ways off... A whole dang month... But anymore, I'm pretty used to waiting for games. I'll make it, even if it involves some swearing and jumping up and down. :twitch: But yeah, I'd wait for the US version. Mainly because I like reading the subtitles more than listening to the voices, since the sound on my TV is pretty bad. Sometimes it can be hard to hear what's being said. That, and the instruction booklet and stuff would be in english, and I'd actually be able to read it.

Well, I'd say 20, 25 hours for doing the bare minimum is a decent amount of time. No doubt, getting all of the Shines and other stuff will tack on a good amount more. I can't wait. ...Wait, didn't I just say I would be able to wait? Yeah, I'll be able to wait... Who am I kidding, I'm not gonna make it... Yes, I will, I just need to stay calm... *mind snaps* AAAAEEEEEEEIIIII!!!!! *jumps up and down while swearing* (See, what'd I tell ya?) :twitch:

Okay, um, moving right along... Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if there's something extra of some sort for getting all the Shines, and whatever else there is to do. And yeah, hopefully it won't just be 99 (or was it 100?) lives and an extra little bounce thing on the end of your Triple Jump. I actually didn't like that, because it made it so you couldn't do a Wall Kick after doing the third jump. You could, however, bounce off lava with that little bounce when you land, which could come in handy... But I like the Wall Kick more...

Oh, and James, two more subscriber only pics are on the way. :)

SPOILERS!!!1111!1

Here's some things I heard:
1. Luigi and Waluigi are in the game, and it seems that there's a whole mission about them. After completing it, Luigi is playable!

2. After finishing the game, you have access to a small island, which is a small stage.

3. Also, you can get tropical clothes for Mario (Sunglasses and beach-print t-shirt).

I'm getting the import in less than 2 weeks! W00t!

Edit- I forgot to say that Planet Gamecube will post picture-proof soon.

Sorry Semjaza! I put more space.

You guys are worried about August 26th?

I was hoping that Nintendo would do their worldwide simultaneous release with Sunshine, like what was originally planned for the Gamecube.

If this isn't happening, I think I may have to put Mario Sunshine on my Christmas list...

Ahem, I live in England, we only just started getting games for the commondore 64, lol. (a joke, don't use this opportunity to laugh, please)

England is notorious for getting games very late indeed, which is sad since there are an enormous amount of gamers here.

Eh, Nintendo sucks about getting games out on time to any country :D. But yeah, I know how you guys have to wait for October...

Maybe you'd be better off ordering Freeloader for 25 bucks, importing a US SMS and getting it months before most other people there :). Only, problem is that it would be quite a bit of money...

But a Freeloader is something you should own if you want to play everything possible anyway (I'm still hoping for a Doshin the Giant release, which keeps getting unconfirmed and confirmed again. That's all I want imported right now haha).

Well, the more I read about Mario Sunshine, the more I want it.

Billy of PGC took about 40 hours to complete the game, but that doesn't include all 120 Shines -- he's still 50 Shines from the "true" end of the game.

That is really exciting -- Luigi's Mansion was painfully short, despite being very enjoyable also. Super Mario Sunshine seems to be exactly what old school Nintendo fans want; a modern Nintendo classic that is actually as hard (and probably harder) than any or all of its original 2D counterparts.

Even for those who are new to the Mario/Nintendo universe; you can buy this one game and spend a great deal of time on it.

Some felt that Luigi's Mansion wasn't worth the price, because it didn't last long enough/wasn't challenging enough.

I don't know if I agree with that (I'm not very concerned with a game's length), but the knowledge that I can buy this game and spend a long time fully exploring it and getting everything out of it, is very pleasing for me.

Funnily enough, one of my most played PS2 games is actually Gradius III & IV. Gradius IV has "new school" shooter graphics, but retains that incredibly difficult original 80's gameplay. It's a wonderful game to spend a rainy afternoon with -- it challenges the player in so many ways, but the difficulty is never bad...it's an asset more than a liability.

Blegh, I know I'm going on and on about difficulty lol. I guess I'm just pleased that the right kind of difficulty is used here. Not the difficulty that is the result of very bad collision detection or shoddy framerate.

Yeah it's a disc that will let you play any GC game on any GC, no matter what format.
Careful about the PAL and NTSC designations when importing...though I'm not sure if GCN has that problem like the PS1 and 2 do.
