Well, a Nintendo Gamecube should cost around 125 pounds, so you should concentrate on buying the essentials, but you should be left with at least 65 pounds. You should get a game (35 to 40 pounds), a second controller if you're not the only gamer in the house (25 pounds), and a memory card (10 pounds). It would be wiser to purchase a memory before a controller.

Notice he said $190, and not £190, heh. ;)

Let's see, since GameCube costs $150, your left with only about $40. I, myself, would wait and save up a little more money before I put it towards a GameCube and accessories, but seeing as in how you're in such a rush, I'll tell what I'd do.

I recommend just getting a 59 block memory card for $10, and another controller for around $20.

Since you don't have enough for a game, I would put that $10 or so change towards when you have enough. That would mean when you get a game, you're all set.

Which leaves me to ask, why do you want a GameCube so much when you don't even have enough for a game as well?

:blah:

I say wait my friend. Go out now and you'll still won't be able to play since nowadays you need 3 things to play games: console, memory card, and the game. Unless you don't mind playing a game from the very start over and over again. Controller you buy after you have those 3 things. So paitence, you waited this long so a week or two won't kill ya.

Bah, silly me! :o

Well, since that is the case, the best option is to wait until you have enough money. Believe me, you don't want to have the greatest games console next to you when you have no game to play on......*shivers*

Well now that the Memory Card 251 is out (the black one for $19.99), the normal 59 (the gray one) is $9.99 everywhere. Sounds like you really lucked out with the game :).

I'd look around several stores when you want a new controller...The suggested retail price is now $24.99, but most places sell it for $19.99. I've seen it on sale for $14.99 at some places, which is a great price...especially considering PS2 controllers are $24.99 and Xbox ones are a ridiculous $39.99.

You made out well.

This is an excellent time to purchase a GameCube. Quality launch titles are quite easy to find in the used bin. Just the other day I came across a couple copies of Luigi's Mansion for only $24.99 respectively.

I myself finally found an S-Video cable for the GameCube only a month ago. Having S-Video for Playstation 2, Dreamcast and Xbox really made it hard to look at blurry GameCube titles. After searching the major gaming stores and coming up empty handed, I finally stumbled across a cable at a music store, lol. Go figure.

Eventually you should invest in one, should your televison support it. The picture looks infintely better.

I have another thing to add. If your going to import the system make sure that you are making plans to get it Modified when you get it. I had my Q about a month before it started to work right. You don't know how frustrating that is to have SSBM and Pikmin sitting on the carpet collecting dust. Now that is real torture.

And I have found out myself that the cheapest game msot the time means that it well... isn't the greatest game. You might not want to get the game just becasue it is cheap.

Yes, you did get quite a deal there... You might start thinking about what you're going to get next, also... Super Mario Sunshine will be coming out on August 26, though you might want to get an older game first, like SSB Melee, if you want multi-player. Or, you may want to get another controller, if you're going to be doing a lot of multi-player gaming. I definitely recommend SSB Melee. I've had it since Christmas, and I'm still playing it, trying to get that one last trophy (I need three more bonuses to get it! Argh!).

Personally, I'd look into getting another game first, myself. There are certainly a decent amount of good ones out there to choose from.

I'd definately get SMS, but on the other hand it doesn't come out til August 26th (or 28th, I forget).

And with SSBM...well I am assuming you have one controller. If you want the full 4 player experience that's gonna ring up a bit over $100. Seeing as though you had to scrounge together the money in the first place, that's probably out of the question haha.

Well, he said he got an extra controller, so that means he has two. Even with only two controllers, though, you can have a lot of fun with SSBM. Heck, I have lots of fun playing by myself and three CPU players in Vs. Mode. That's actually the way that I play most of the time, since I like having four characters fighting all at once, instead of the usual one-on-one in the 1P Mode.

But yeah, it'll be a while yet before Super Mario Sunshine comes out (it's August 26, according to www.nintendo.com)... Of course, that'd give him time to save up for it...

Well, as I mentioned before, Super Smash Bros. Melee is a great choice, for single- or multi-player fun. My friend has Eternal Darkness and he says it's really good, so you might look into that. Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II is good if you like flight sims... I dunno, though, it depends on what you like, I guess... There's a lot of good games out there to choose from, so it really just depends on what type of games you like.

You could also look in this thread for more recommendations, since it's on the same subject.
