Feeling stumped?

I hope this doesn't get closed but let me ask you this. What anime series or movie (besides Evangelion even though I haven't seen it (shame on me)) left you just completely stumped? Has anyone seen Blue Submarine no. 6. Now that left me in the wind as far as plot goes. What anime do you think is the most philosophical and why? What Anime makes you think wwwwaaaayyyyyyy too much?

watching the Please Save My Earth OVA didn't have me stumped, but pretty confused. it didn't help that my DVD decided it didn't want to play the last 5 minutes of the last episode >.<' . I had to look up info on the internet so I'd at least be able to read about what all was supposed to happen in the series ....

What about Akira. I'm sure many people will answer to that so I say. Akira is pretty philosophical when you get past the violence. The ending is just, well, one word: WHOA
Amen to that!

I have yet to understand it.

Also, I've been told that Evangelion is very confusing too.

Yes, Eva is the most confusing anime series there is, hands down. But he asked BESIDES Eva, so I'm thinking...

I haven't really gotten confused with much of anything else I've ever watched. Except Record of Lodoss War, but I think it was just because the dubbing absolutely sucked and the storyline wasn't all that great anyway...

And I was trying to find Lodoss War. Oh well. A lot of the more mature anime (Iria, Akira, Profect A-ko) left me confused mostly because I didn't see them in their entirety (I was constantly flipping between Sci-Fi channel and X-men on Fox during those wonder years) but now that I sat down and started watching I feel better about the stories.

By far the most confusing anime to understand for a series would be Neon Genesis Evangelion, the most confusing anime movie would have to be Akira especially the dubbed version of that movie since they try to confuse you even more! There are other ones that are a bit confusing also like E.Y.E.S. of Mars but very few remember those obscure ones. ;)

One of the most philosophical anime I've seen is Gundam Wing. THe dialogue gets boring at times and I admit that if you don't see the show from the first episode (I started at six the first time because I didn't have time to sit down and watch to begin with) you will be lost. But I like Treize Kushrenada's constant speeches about war and feel that they seem sort of poetic in a way.

I actually enjoyed the first episode of Gundam Wing, but oh well...I guess that's just me...

Anywho...E.Y.E.S of Mars was just awesome. I don't remember it being confusing, but it's been years since I've seen it and I wish I could sit down and watch it again.

I don't remember Akira being confusing, but I saw that so long ago I barely remember anything about it. Dubbed anything is easy to get confused by because sometimes the translation is just horrible...

I completely agree. Treize's speeches are great. I especially liked his speech when he stepped down from leader of oz. Now back to the topic. I think the kenshin movies are incredibly confusing, especially with the flashbacks, but it didn't stump me.

Definitely the Patlabor movies. They were very cunning and well plotted, but I hadn't the slightest clue of what was happening, not even to this day.

The front cover was a "guns and knives" sort of illustration, which is probably what caught my attention at the most......

As for Eva (sorry, couldn't help myself), you will find the Manga a lot more understandable, especially since it's in the comic form, you could go about it as a source of knowledge, since it will always be there, and is as convenient to flick through as the TV series. :)

Akira is just as complex and hard to understand subbed. It doesn't matter much either way.

I'd say Lain, mainly because there are several ways to take a lot of the things that happened in it. I think I understand it, but I could never explain it to anyone heh.

Lain was definitely confusing. Usually when I get bored, lost or confused with the first volume I would leave it for later. This is probably why I didn't continue on with the whole series.

Other things I left behind due to too much plot complexities were FLCL and Gasaraki.
