Charles
I should have created a thread on this in the past, but I always say "Better late than never." Although I'm sure that this game was touched upon in Neil's topic, I feel that it deserves it's own thread. Supervised by the series' creator, Norlyoshi Ohba, the latest Shinobi is coming along quite impressively and managed to turn quite a few heads at E3. Although the two-dimensional, sprite-based visuals of the past have been done away with in favor of fully rendered polygonal grahpics, the title should remain somewhat true to it's roots. Hotsuma (the game's lead character) will be able to utilize the double-jump, shuriken throwing and the ability to run on walls. According to a preview that I read in Game Informer, an interesting twist to the gameplay has been implemented. Hotsuma's sword is supposedly a living organism that thrives on blood. This twist will most likely add a hectic atmosphere to the gameplay because this sword weakens quickly and is always in need of blood. Contrarily, yet obviously, the sword will gain strength as it's thirst for the red liquid is quenched. Due to this frantic style, stealth will most likely play a marginal (if that) portion in Shinobi. The artistic approach, which is said to be a cross between anime style and the look of western comic books. So, are there any old schoolers lingering around? The twitch-style gameplay and name value among hardcore gamers is sure to earn this title instant success. Hopefully information on the next two-dimensional Castlevania I've heard about will begin to surface too. It'll be old school heaven on the PS2. The Vampire: Ed
Well, I've played past Shinobi's. But I've never really been too fond of them, just an average game to me. I also don't know much about this 3D version of Shinobi, but it sounds rather cool. The sword's blood lust is a pretty interesting feature, and should prove to be a great help to the game play. Well, we'll have to wait and see how it turns out. I'll be looking forward to trying it out.
SS Vegeta
I too have played past Shinobis, and lets just say I wasn't impressed. Though they were fun they lacked many things during gameplay. I still am looking foward to this though, you never know with Sega.
Turkey
It sounds like a very interesting game. I heard that in one of the moves you can slice an enemy so fast that he'll stay still for a few seconds before he dies.
Guest Morph
I have a question, is this the same Shinobi series as the one that was started on Game Gear? If so, then this is one of my favorite gaming series. The first one was incredible, despite the graphics the gameplay and story line was great. I can't wait for it to come out, I want to see what they did with the full 3D element at their hands.

This adventure takes place in modern day Tokyo. As part of the major Japanese clan Oboro, two young brothers must fight to win the use of a traditional and ancient sword, filled with awesome, deadly powers. The only thing is whoever loses the fight dies. Your character, Hotsuma, wins the sword which, like a living organism, craves and feeds on blood. If it can't find blood through your actions, than it will take yours. It is said, that at the same time your character earns the right to wield the sword, strange events begin to occur, such as earthquakes. The transition to 3D should compliment the game well. Dashes (on both land and air) scream 2D. Anyway, I could swear that I remember a Shinobi on the Sega Saturn. Unfortunately, I was never able to play it. Guest Morph
Yes, there was a sequel to it. I think it was Revenge of the Shinobi. Or something like it. I played it once, but it was awhile ago.
Semjaza
Revenge of Shinobi was on Sega CD. For some reason I always thought it was made by Vik Tokai though. Saturn got a game called Shinobi Legions, but I'm not sure if it has to do with Sega's Shinobi or not. Pretty much every system back in the day got a version of Shinobi (even Turbo Grafx 16 and Commodore 64), the worst probably being the NES port. The new GBA game looks great though, and I'm looking forward to the PS2 game.
The Harlequin
People, people. Revenge Of Shinobi came out on the Sega Megadrive II originally. Come to think of it, I think I still have it lying around somehere... God that's sad. Great game for its time though. It would be interesting to see a newly made version.
