Flash
Job System was first used in FFIII for the NES, I think... Might've been FFII. Whichever had the Onionkids in it. Oh, and just fo' yo' info', FFI had the best magic in the series to date. Did any of the other games have spells such as NUKE, ZAP!, and XXXX? I think not... ;)
NeoCactuar
What about Ultima, Holy, Bio, Tornado, Flare and many other greats..? Flash... you still won't convince me that FFI - FFVI is as good as, or better than FFVII - FFX.

G/S/B Master
They're running out of Magic idea.I know i'll make up one like apocalypes.A magic stronger then ultima.ohhhhh yeah man.it would junction perfectly.25 would max 1 stats. 9999 for attack power.9999 for almost any strong magics out there like Ultima.9999 HPs,that would be incredeble. But if an opponent uses it...Then you're doomed. But if Apocalypse Junction to elemental defence full 100.Then 0 damage. But if you could have 200.It wouldn't be a problem. FFVII-FFX is better then the original.Oh yes what XXXX magic do Flash? But anyways i'll buy FFIX when I have the time.I also might buy 1 of the original too. Anways in topic:If final fantasy will be keep on being populer then they'll keep on realesing the games and accessories.
Semjaza
Everyone that started with 7, thinks the new ones are best. Everyone that started with the original 6, thinks those are best. That's what I have found anyway. I'm never going to stop thinking that FF4 and FF6 were the best of the series... Until they top them anyway. And I believe the Onionkids were in FF3. Either way, the job system idea started in DQ3/DW3 :). Although, Square had added to it quite a bit. I can't see this series ever ending honestly. It's still doing well... but I think it will sound rather stupid to call something FF16 or FF20. Hopefully, they can change or edit the name by then... Maybe add a sub-title or something. I started with FFVII, then played FFIV (FFII on the SNES), then moved on to FFVI (FFIII on the SNES), and then FFIX. My favorite it FFVI, then FFIV, then FFVII, then FFIX. I'll probably get around to playing FFV pretty soon, and I'm betting it'll be up there with FFVI and FFIV on my list of favorites. 8- and 16-bit graphics can beat all those fancy polygons anyday! :p But anyway, I don't know anything about FFII and FFIII, since they were never released in the US... So, I wouldn't know what magic system is used in them... But for the games currently released in the US, FFV is the first to use the job system. (Of course, it was actually released in the US after FFT, but FFV was made first). In FFI you just picked a party of four characters at the start of the game, and you chose from six classes, and you couldn't change their class (though they do get a sort of class upgrade, such as the Fighter turning into the Knight). Oh, and Flash, Nuke is in FFIV. It's the most powerful black magic spell, short of Meteo (which takes so long to cast it's not worth it), in the game. And does FFI have White, eh? That happens to be my favorite spell in the whole series. :p But yeah, the idea of FFXX does sound kind of weird... I think that after FFXII, they should start a new series or something, with subtitles instead of numbers... Do something to make it so it's not so repetitive sounding. :twitch:

I played FFVII first. (after I watched NeoC play it--and it totally ruined the game. While everyone else was mourning and crying over Aeris' Death, I was sitting there saying, 'Aeris should be dieing right about... Now.'.) But after FFVII, I played FFVIII, and then I got the ROMs and started playing the old school ones. I played FFV, and then went back and did FFI, II, III, IV, and then VI. Then FFIX and X came out and made me hate squaresoft. n_n
Originally posted by Desbreko [B] Oh, and Flash, Nuke is in FFIV. Semjaza
White is a spell Rydia can use in FF4 (FF2 here). It's pretty damn powerful against the right enemies. I know for a fact FF1 doesn't have it. I'm not sure about FF2 and FF3 though.
Desbreko
No, Rosa learns White (it's a spell, and it's the only attack white magic spell in the game). I'm pretty sure it's the last spell she learns. And yes, it's very powerful, especially against undead enemies since it's white magic. Rydia can use black and white magic, in addition to calling, when she's a kid, but when she grows up she loses the ability to cast white magic. However, she can then cast more black magic, and can call more monsters. Rydia's your black mage/caller and Rosa's your white mage.
Ninjaman
Ah, yes, good old FFII/IV. I started out with FFI and loved that one too, but I never gotten around to beating it. Anyway, I always loved the final boss for FFII/IV. I thought the BG and music were cool for the final boss. FFIII/VI and V were good but never topped FFII/IV to me. I never beaten FF VII-X, as I have started FFVII for the first time(hey, it took awhile for me). But I wonder if they'll go all out on graphics for the final boss and everything else. I mean graphics are pretty far today, how much more graphics could they improve on before everything's perfect?
Mitch
They'll for sure go to at least 25, but after that I don't know. As for FF 11, I am not going to buy it. It's just going to be like another Ultima Online with some new inovative ideas. If you ask me, Square is stupid for making the next one online. I think the 1 player ones are always going to be the most fun.
Semjaza
Sorry, I got the names mixed up. It's been several years :). White is probably what turned into the Pearl spell in other FFs... the main difference is that it is like 20 times more powerful (I always thought Pearl was near useless in FF6). You can very easily get 9999 damage on monsters with it, even if Rosa isn't near Level 99 yet. It's basically the White equivalent of Black's Meteo or Ultima... without the drawbacks (Meteo' casting time is long, and Ultima damages you badly depending on the game...forget if it's like that in all of them. I know it's like that in FF6). FFXI should be very cool I think. I don't know why they didn't just call it FFOnline or something. It would have made more sense... especially since FFXII is going to be another single player game.
Kinetic
Thanks for noting that FFXII will be single player. I was afraid that they would screw FF up by making the rest of their games online, and ruin it for me when I'm just getting into the series. As for FFXI, I will probably get it, as long as I don't have to pay so-much per month.
Desbreko
In FFIV, White is the white magic equivalent of Nuke, I think. And Ultima doesn't hurt you in FFVI... But yes, White is pretty much like Pearl in FFVI, except that White is more powerful. Then Pearl turned into Holy, for the later FF games, which is pretty powerful. Oh, and FFIV also had Cure4! Restores more HP than a Cure3, and it only takes about as long as a Cure to cast! Of course, it takes a lot of MP, but it's worth it when you get hit with Meteo during the fight with the end boss. You're gonna want to get back a lot of HP very quickly after that, and there's no better way than with a Cure4! :toothy: Yeah, I also think it would have been better to call FFXI something else. FFXI seems more of a spin-off, like the Final Fantasy Legend series on the Game Boy, than a normal FF game. They could have called it... "Final Fantasy: Online Another World" lol. But yes, FFXII will be a one-player game.
Sensei-San
It will be along time till we see Final Fantasy fade away into mist. Seeing as there have been many FF games produced up to this day. We have got to take into account the fact that Square have produced so many FF titles, including Tactics, remakes of current ones, and ports onto other consoles. A mark for originality should be considered by Square now, seeing as they are over doing it now, lol. The job system for example, we'll see how long it will stay for before Square actually get fed up with it. It will be a great sight to see how long our most popular RPG series will last though. Now I have X and my brother keeps asking which is my favourite. but I can't really give him an answer cos all the FF games are good for different reasons, and in different areas. "I'm goin round in circles now!" - as Barret said As for the different magic systems, I would love to see the return of a level three Demi spell and some of the stronger Bahmuts, Knights of Round would be aq welcome comeback, and as long as there are chocobos I am happy.
