I remember fighting a guy in the magic tower that casts Ultima, but perhaps he only casts it as he is dying. That's why I assumed it hurt both of you.

I must be getting a lot of this stuff confused, because I haven't played FF4 or FF6 since like 1996 :).

Yeah, the boss at the top of the Magic Tower casts Ultima on you as a finishing move. It doesn't hurt both of you, it's just a final attack that it does before it dies. Kind of like how Ultimate WEAPON in FFVII does Shadow Flare on you when it dies. The best way to defend against Ultima, when fighting that boss at the top of the Magic Tower in FFVI, is to cast Life3 on everyone, because most of the time it seemed like it would do 9999 damage against everyone... And I'm pretty sure Wall doesn't reflect it, because I remember you'd want to wear Wall Rings (automatically sets up Wall) all the way up the Tower, and I remember getting hit with Ultima. So, yeah, I don't think you can block it. (Oh, and if anyone is wondering, Life3 automatically revives you when you die. That's another spell I want to see brought back in FFXI, along with White and Cure4).

As for summons, I haven't liked the direction that they've been going in since FFIV (and maybe FFV, I don't know how it was done in that one). In FFIV, you just called the summoned monster, and it attacked once... None of this thirteen hits in a row crap that makes almost everything in the game easy to beat, like Knights of the Round... It just makes it too easy. Actually, Ultima in FFVI was kind of that way, but to a lesser extent. Since everyone can learn magic, you could just have everyone constantly casting Ultima, except when you have to restore your MP. Where's the fun in that? I prefer to use the characters special attacks, like Sabin's Blitzes, instead of magic, most of the time.

As for getting FFXI, I'm thinking that I probably will, if I have the money. Of course, I'll be getting it on the PC, so I won't have to buy a hard drive and network adapter in addition to the game, like I would with the PS2. :p

And just how exactly would you be playing FFXI? I don't think that the beta tests for the PC version have even started in Japan. And even if they have, you kinda have to live in Japan to be able to be part of it. At least you did with the PS2 beta test.

Lol, I thought there was some sort of mix up. :whoops: Yeah, my friend has the PC version of FFVII, and it doesn't take a whole lot to run it decently.

I hope they do beta tests for FFXI over here in the US, and I hope I'll get to be part of the PC version test! That'd be really cool, being able to play it before it's released.

I don't know about you, but I think it'd be cool to be a VR 8-Bit Sabin
^_^

But anyway, last I checked it was supposed to be upto 13, but 18 is quite a big step.

Everyone else here doesn't think so, but what if FF12 flops, or something?

Leave me alone while I gnaw away at the thought of Chrono Break ::gnaws away::

Itsh good to be back :)
