Omar Harris
I just started FFVIII and I want to know how do I beat Djinn in order to get him.(I think that's his name. The genie guy you get from the Garden's leader).
Flash
Well... You attack him. And he dies. Or if you're after strategy... I suggest you get the Punishment gunblade if you're still in Balamb, or, If you want, go to Deling City and get the Lionheart. Save, go in with Squall on low health and junctioned to Ifrit with Str+ 20%/40%/60% or something similar. Something strong like Bio or Water on Strength helps to. Just go in and Renzokuken his arse and hope to get a nice finisher. He should go down easily, just remember the golden rule--Let your GFs grow levels, but don't let your party members do the same. Omar Harris
What is that golden rule all about? To prevent the party from getting too strong or what?
Flash
Well, the stronger your guys are, the stronger the enemy is. So the best thing to do is to get someone who's not gonna be in your main party, and put him in. Junction every GF and all your good magic to him. Kill off Squall and the other dude and let the guy with all the GFs level up until all your GFs have all abilities learned, and are at level 100. There you go. Revive your regular party members, get rid of the training monkey (who's at Lvl 100. by now, most likely), and go on like normal. Piece of piss. SephirothNIN
That's a horrible idea, if you put 10 GF's on Squall, every GF will only get 1/10th the exp of the battle, if you split it up so there's 3 on 2 characters, and 4 on the other your GFs will level up MUCH faster. As for the "djinn", I assume you're talking about Diablos cause he's the only one in a lamp, magic or otherwise. He's pretty simple if you use his own gravity magic against him. Simply draw and stock his demi, then use it against him. Make sure at least 2 of your characters are healed also, but keep one in critical to do their limit break (whoever's strongest). To heal simply draw/cast(instead of stock) demi on him, and he'll "counter" by using curaga on you. Beating him gets you Diablos, yum. Level up your characters too, if you don't level up and the enemies don't, you'll only be able to draw crap spells from them. How can you junction strong spells unless you have any? Unless you want to wait til disc 3 when you can get them free from the islands anyway. Diablos wasn't that hard and I beat him right after I got the lamp, heh didn't even know what the thing did. Just save beforehand and check how much demi does against him (when using it out of your own arsenal). When it starts doing damage under 1,000 it might be time to finish him off, it depends on how strong your people are I suppose.
The Harlequin
You have to stock it then cast it, or he won't counter with curaga. The main problem with that is that there is a very high chance of the draw failing. Still, I've never had a problem with Diablos.
JCBaggee
Two Diablos strategies from the FFVIII guide writer that is JCBaggee... --Draw, Cast Demi with one member. --The rest of the party should attack and use magic or abilities or summon GF's. If you're very, very confident, try this...but BE CAREFUL!! --Use a party of Zell, Squall, and Selphie. --Let Diablos attack everyone until they are at critical, then use Zell's Limit, Squall's Limit, then keep pressing circle on Selphie's limit until she casts either Full Cure to heal everyone. Repeat until Diablos is defeated, but BE CAREFUL! He'll hit you while you're critical, most likely killing you instantly! NOTE--If you're level is fairly low, you may be able to cast Selphie's Limit The End to automatically end the battle. PM me if you need anymore help with this wonderful game, and have fun! --JC
Flash
*shakes head* I'm not the moderator here for no reason. But sometimes it feels that way. -__-; You just have to remember that people will always have varying oppinions... Of course, neither yours nor theirs will always be right, and sometimes there may not even be a right or wrong... I hope I have brought enlightenment to this thread, even though I know nothing of FFVIII. :twitch: - Desbreko
