i have nothing. no Photo Shop. No Microstoft whatever. nothing. being twelve, there's not much i can do to buy anything. i get roughly $23 a week. what money i do have saved up is going toward my iBook/iPod fund.

i have appleworks(clarisworks with a new name).

the only thing that cold be used as a backround is: gradients.

yup. i don't know anything about graphic design, but maybe i will learn. sometime, though i don't now how i would go about it.

but in the meantime, while i'm figuring out a way to enjoy using the spraypaint option, i'd like to know:

is there anything good about appleworks for graphic design, or just fooling around with the idea, like me?

peace

I'm not sure if you realize it, but that's quite a lot of money you must have. If you didn't invest about four weeks in your iBook/iPod fund, you could get Paint Shop Pro 7, a very reliable image program. With that, you could tap away AppleWorks, and practice with more dependable tools.

But then, as you said, it's part of a fund, and wouldn't be very smart to take out.

I'll tell you what, if you send me a PM, I can tell you exactly where to get a good image program, if your computer has enough memory, for a very good deal.

As for this "AppleWorks," I have no knowledge of it. When you consider that, it usually means that it is a basic image program for some computers. Those kinds usually can't make things very well, forcing you to pay money for anything besides playing around with basic stuff.

Good luck making banners with it, and don't forget to PM me.

Yes, Corel is actually underated...Adobe is just more well known.... Be prepared for higher prices as Corel Photosuite goes for 1200 retail... um.. as aries *cough* mentioned... this is all free if you have the rigth .....'connections'.

IF you are using mac i just have to step back and giggle for a while... hehe ok done...personally, i have tried mac and it blows horribly... i would not knock mac without trying... if you have a mac i doupt you could even run most of the good progs efficiently.

Appleworks sucks. Period. Like Aries said, all you gotta do is go on Kazaa or Morpheus and download it illegally, but you may not find it in a full version. I found all mine in a full version perfectly, by luck.

Appleworks, huh? Ouch. When I was little, I used to spend hours a day working on pictures in that thing... [Well, yeah, t'was actually Clarisworks.]

And yeah....nothing illiegal works for a mac. :whoops:

But 23 dollars a week is quite a bit of money. I sure as heck don't get that much. [Granted, I could get a job......but we're in the process of moving, and I don't have my license...so I'd have to get a job close to home....which means I have to wait till we move....]

But you could certainly skim a little off of your iPod fund and get enough money to buy an image program.

[I got Photoshop Elements as a gift last Christmas. Go me!]

But actually, Download.com has some programs--usually thirty day trials--that you can get for free. And some even work for macs!

best luck to you.

I will have to agree with pyro on this. I used APS 6 to make your banner. Try and d/l a free trial, and then well. Decide on if you like it or not. I wonder how many of you just d/l it instead of buying it.

Ahem, I believe that many of you are forgetting that both their Mac and their funds prohibit them from buying Photoshop. I don't see how all of you expect a 12 year old to get their hands on a $500-$1,200 program because...

1) That kind of money would take a long time to make, and the money he does make goes to his funds

2) He has a Mac computer, so he cannot download programs enabling him to illegally upload programs such as Photoshop

Honestly, all of you people make me laugh with your over-the-moon possibilities. :)

I'd say to stick with making $90 for Paint Shop Pro 7, since that wouldn't be taking too much out of your fund, but still give you high quality possibilities. Remember, it isn't the program that makes the banner, it's your skill. I did this banner I have on Paint Sho Pro 7 before I got Photoshop 6, and a lot of people who do have Photoshop 6 can't make as good of banners. Keep that in mind. ;)

I hated Paint Shop Pro...couldn't figure anything out :p Of course, I had version 3.0

Anyway, I agree with Cera, $23 a week is alot :p I haven't made any money, any week for years, and I've got two huge Adobe programs...just need to get the registration for Adobe Premier to work, then I can start making music videos :D

Anyway, yeah, as SS said, save up 90 dollars, and get Paint Shop Pro..Although, I'd save for Adobe :p

THANK YOU ALL! Thanks especially to solid snake, you tried your best! yeah, i'll probably buy Paint Shop 7 or whatever. I mean, SS did his banner with it, and it looks fine! I'll probably first take Cera's advice and go to download.com...

it may be a while before poor me gets Paint Shop though, cuz i just grabbed 70 bucks from the fund 3 weeks ago to get a GBA, but i can do it! i think the whole ordeal is getting better and better!

This enrages me...
Many of the good programs, PS7.0 6.0 etc, have Macintosh counterparts. I subscibe to a Macintosh magazine and have seen many very good graphics programs for it. Soon Kazza will be making a Mac model. When it does I will immediately download it and start the download for PS 7.0. Why pay 750$ for it?

To genkai_yyh, I could e-mail you a copy of PS 2.0. It's not much but it should give you a better understanding of the higher programs. The only thing is is that I would have to e-mail it to you in chunks...

thanks, that'd be cool.... i am a die-hard mac fan, and it warms my heart to see another. i took cera's advice and went to down;oad.com i have a tryout of PS 5 or 6, and the only put off is that they don't have a ton of fonts as they normally would. then again it's a tryout.

I would agree with you there. Skill is a very important factor. However, i made his banner with APS 6.

so bleh!!!!!:p :p

yeah, well, the 30 day trial is without saving or printing priviliges, so, it's ot much good but to get used to it. it's sort of confusing.

anyway, i have Mactella.ppc, and it appears that they have quite a lot of (il)legal copies of Photoshop for mac from 1.0-7.0, and so i, er, checked it out and it didn't work. It opened w/ stuffit expander, then i couldn't open th "FIRST READ ME" or whatever the other doc was cuz it couldn't find the original document or program or something...or it just gives me some message about how i need to enter the four character creator and type and then i should press set...too bad i don't know those 4 character thingies... .whatever, i, er, have a friend w/ photoshop, though maybe not for mac, that i could, er(glances around nervously) use....or..pirate....whatever....still though, i don't think that's gonna happen, so the flow of help is awesome! anyone else have a good soul?

I think you missed something Vegitto4. Macs don't have exe files. One of the many reasons they are better than pcs.

It's possible the characters are located somewhere in the coding, a release mechanism etc. So if you have a fair bit of time, and understand code, you could go through it with resedit or resorceror, but that's unlikely to work. If you are pirating it, the best bet would be to dig up a registration code off the internet, or get a friend who has a registered version to lend it.

anyway I just thought I should add that there is a software available which allows you to run windows on a mac, its a separate program and this will basically allow you to get the best of both worlds. Its called win2000 but I have no idea where to get it from or how much it costs, i'll have to ask my friend and when I get the answer i'll post it.
