A Simpsons Question

Ok I haven't been watching the Simpsons in a long time and I saw the episode like two weeks ago (where Homer takes over Mo's). Well in that episode I saw Barney with his hair slick back and clean and he was drinking coffee! So I want to know, when did Barney become sober? And how and why for that matter?

Ah, a very simple question indeed...

During Barney's birthday party he became so drunk that he started wearing Marge's and made a complete idiot out of himself. The next day everyone made fun of him for what he had done at the party but Barney didn't remember any of it. He decided to give up alcohol from that day on, and took up Helicopter Piloting as a hobby.

Barney is now clean and sober, but he is addicted to the coffee that Moe sells him.

I don't think Barney is sober yet in the episodes being shown here either. The last one I saw was when Bart goes to Nelson's house and shoots a bird..... :drunk: But then I missed a few after that. :D

Ah well..... *goes to video store and rents 3 Simpsons videos*

The thing about The Simpsons, is that some jokes and things carry on between episodes and some don't. Barney has been in Moe's and other places getting drunk since that episode.

Another good example of something they basically just ditched was all of Skinner's Nam flashbacks as a Sergeant. They messed all that up by introducing the real Seymour Skinner. Hans Moleman has died countless times. There are quite a few more.

I heard that they stopped makeing new eppisodes (might be spoiler) after they made the one were the Simpsons went to Toronto. Either that or it was the one were they went to that place to save the orphan kid (never saw that one completly)...
I've barly ever watch it anymore because they're mostly reruns now.

No, the Simpsons are still making new episodes, and there will be at least another year according to their contract with FOX. The truth is that the Simpsons is still one of the most popular shows on tv, and easily the most popular comedy on FOX.

Actually, they could have kept going with those. After all, Armin Tamzarian (or however his name is spelled) was still in the war. He could still have all of those flashbacks.

Not another year!
I love the Simpsons, its my fav show ever, but i have to admit it seems to be losing its funniness(i think i just made a word up). Theyre running out of good storylines. Honestly, in the past two seasons there havent been any episodes that are as good as the old ones. Maybe they should have quit while they were ahead.

Yeah, the Simpsons are running out of steam. The lack of good material and having to compete with all the other primetime or whatever shows could also be draining the comedy. I've seen most of the simpsons episodes at least twice (and am now sadly considered a walking encyclopedia of details to my friends) and it has gone far down hill. Also, with the plot holes and all...they never show homer at work in the reactor anymore. They never show Bart and Lisa at school anymore. Bart and Lisa have both graduated their respective school levels more than once. They have been kicked out of every state, except the one they live in, and have had to resort to traveling out of country. And, you never see any of the old folks anymore, or most of the kids. Radioactive man is gone, the comic book guy is dead, and there are many other things missing from the general plot.

Geez...I watch this show too much...

I never really realised that all those characters were gone. Maybe Radioactive man decided on a fulltime job as an Otaku avatar :p

Anyway, as to barney sobering up. I think I remember that episode. and he took up helicopter flights. But i am sure he's back to being the good 'ol drunk barney :alcohol:

I know how you feel! I think my friends are getting sick of me reciting scenes from the Simpsons. Come to think of it, they try to avoid talking about the Simpsons when I'm around. HAHAHA but there is no escaping my wrath!
:p
