Semjaza Posted July 19, 2002 Share Posted July 19, 2002 Final Fantast 1 and 2 were just announced for PSX in Japan. Both are remakes of the original NES/Famicom games. FF2 was never officially available here, but it has a fan translation patch for roms. Anyway, the games themselves look almost exactly like the Wonderswan Color remakes that Square put out a while back. Apparently, the music will be done... and FMV will be added. They are available seperately, or together in a special edition package with some extras (figures supposedly). The only time I played that game was when I was about 5 or 6(I forget), and I never beaten or gotten very far. I still have a Nintendo, but it doesn't work most of the time. Nothing like firing up your old NES once in awhile! ...Oh course, you'd have to find a copy with a battery that isn't dead... Either that, or replace the battery, if you can find a replacement and the right type of screwdriver to open up the cartridge case. Hmm... that remake is sounding better and better... ;) I probably would still play the original, though. FFII on the SNES is the US version of FFIV (it was named FFII in the US because the real FFII and FFIII weren't released in the US, so it was only the second FF game in the US). It's just that FFII on the SNES is FFIV on the PSX, and FFIII on the SNES is FFVI on the PSX! FFIV and FFVI on the PSX aren't remakes, they're ports, and FFIV and FFVI are their real numbering. FFII and FFIII on the SNES were originally FFIV and FFVI, not the other way around. They were originally released in Japan as FFIV and FFVI, and then renamed to FFII and FFIII for the US releases. And yes, I know about FFII and FFIII on the SNES. I own FFIII on the SNES, and have played FFII on the SNES. I hate how all the numbers were changed, why didn't they just stick to the number that it was originally called! Now I'll usually just post that if anyone is confused. And yeah, Square announced awhile ago that they're going to remake FF Tactics for the GBA. Really, I'm hoping that they'll port/remake FFI through FFVI on the GBA. They could start with FFT, and then release FFI, then FFII, then FFIII, and so on until FFVI. That way, a lot more people would get to replay the classic FF games. I'm sure they'd do good, since [i]tons[/i] of people own a GBA, and there are probably lots of people that haven't played the classic FF games, or would want to replay them.[/color] Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Sensei-San Posted July 22, 2002 Share Posted July 22, 2002 Final Fantasy I & II remakes are a great way of promoting Squares capability in the business. It can show us how much the series has evolved since then. FF I, II, & III weren't released over here in the UK, so this is a great opportunity for us UKers to take advantage of the situation. The release of FF Tactics for the GBA is confirmed, and it has been announced that the FF series is making its way back to Nintendo. Although this is true, there have been many rumours of FFX making an appearence on the Gamecube. Obviously this won't be a success, seeing as FFX is being ported onto the PC, giving the GCN and PS2 hard times since many people own PCs over games consoles.
