Semjaza
Final Fantast 1 and 2 were just announced for PSX in Japan. Both are remakes of the original NES/Famicom games. FF2 was never officially available here, but it has a fan translation patch for roms. Anyway, the games themselves look almost exactly like the Wonderswan Color remakes that Square put out a while back. Apparently, the music will be done... and FMV will be added. They are available seperately, or together in a special edition package with some extras (figures supposedly). Guest Imsirion
Do you know if they will come to America? If they do, I need to get them as soon as I can. YaY!
Semjaza
No news on that yet. They don't have a definite release date in Japan either, just a vague Fall 2002 release. They will be sold seperately for $35 dollars, or in the set (with the 3 figures) for about $78.
Flash
Finally... the game that started it all is coming back. I want to Father Squaresoft's child. How do you know Squaresoft is a woman? - Desbreko it's one of those odd type things JC, it's neither but.... um.... he just said that as a comment...-Cloud No, I'm serious, I want to. And if squaresoft isn't a woman, well... I'll just have to father the children of the producers wives. Or of various squaresoft characters. Either way is fine by me. n_n Oh, and to everyone who hasn't already--GO AND PLAY THE ORIGINAL FINAL FANTASY NOW. I don't want y'all missing out on the real thing. The remake is just that--A remake. You'd better get a taste of the real thing first.
Ninjaman
Yay! I get to actually beat the first Final Fantasy! The only time I played that game was when I was about 5 or 6(I forget), and I never beaten or gotten very far. I still have a Nintendo, but it doesn't work most of the time. Nothing like firing up your old NES once in awhile! ...Oh course, you'd have to find a copy with a battery that isn't dead... Either that, or replace the battery, if you can find a replacement and the right type of screwdriver to open up the cartridge case. Hmm... that remake is sounding better and better... ;) I probably would still play the original, though. But before I play FFI, though, I'll probably play FFV.

Barra Maral
Actually Final Fantasy 2 did come out on the SNES in america. My friend owns it. FF 4 was a remake of it.
Desbreko
No, the real FFII never came out in the US. FFII on the SNES is the US version of FFIV (it was named FFII in the US because the real FFII and FFIII weren't released in the US, so it was only the second FF game in the US). Take a look at the list of games I posted in this thread to see all of the FF games that have been released in the US, and to get the US/Japanese numbering straight.
Barra Maral
If you read the post that I made in that thread you would see what i mean. besides my friend owns FF 2 on the SNES and owns FF3 on the SNES!
Desbreko
...I have read your post in that thread... It's just that FFII on the SNES is FFIV on the PSX, and FFIII on the SNES is FFVI on the PSX! FFIV and FFVI on the PSX aren't remakes, they're ports, and FFIV and FFVI are their real numbering. FFII and FFIII on the SNES were originally FFIV and FFVI, not the other way around. They were originally released in Japan as FFIV and FFVI, and then renamed to FFII and FFIII for the US releases. And yes, I know about FFII and FFIII on the SNES. I own FFIII on the SNES, and have played FFII on the SNES. They're just the US versions of FFIV and FFVI.
Barra Maral
oh, i am sorry i did not get what you were saying before. i get it now.
Ninjaman
But wasn't FFIV called FFII and FFVI called FFIII in Japan and vice versa for the US? I hate how all the numbers were changed, why didn't they just stick to the number that it was originally called! Sorry, I know that it isn't a big deal but it's one of things that just really annoy me. Back on topic, what is FFII(PSX) about?
Desbreko
Uh... what? I couldn't understand what you were saying, about the numbering... Maybe this will help people to get the numbering straight (see attachment). As for what FFII (the real FFII) is about, I don't know... If anyone here would know, it'd be Flash, since he's played it.
Mitch
Square also recently anounced that they will make FFT for the Gameboy Advance. Who knows? Maybe they'll even remake the Wonderswan FF III game eventually? That would be cool.
Semjaza
Haha, I was just about to make a little graph showing what FF is what, but Desbreko beat me to it :).
Desbreko
Lol... After explaining the whole thing about three times, I got sick of it and just wrote up what was what, and saved it. Now I'll usually just post that if anyone is confused. And yeah, Square announced awhile ago that they're going to remake FF Tactics for the GBA. Really, I'm hoping that they'll port/remake FFI through FFVI on the GBA. They could start with FFT, and then release FFI, then FFII, then FFIII, and so on until FFVI. That way, a lot more people would get to replay the classic FF games. I'm sure they'd do good, since tons of people own a GBA, and there are probably lots of people that haven't played the classic FF games, or would want to replay them.
Sensei-San
Final Fantasy I & II remakes are a great way of promoting Squares capability in the business. It can show us how much the series has evolved since then. FF I, II, & III weren't released over here in the UK, so this is a great opportunity for us UKers to take advantage of the situation. The release of FF Tactics for the GBA is confirmed, and it has been announced that the FF series is making its way back to Nintendo. Although this is true, there have been many rumours of FFX making an appearence on the Gamecube. Obviously this won't be a success, seeing as FFX is being ported onto the PC, giving the GCN and PS2 hard times since many people own PCs over games consoles. I look forward to seeing further Nintendo releases of future FF titles.
