Too Many Superheroes

Is anyone else shocked with the number of superhero movies coming out these days? I mean, there's Spiderman, Daredevil (coming soon), Incredible Hulk (coming soon). Then there's all the "potentials" out there. As I type this message, somebody out there is planning to make a Catwoman film, A Constantine film, and Greatest American Hero (heaven help us).

With all of these superheroes getting their own movies, one question comes to my mind... Where's the Green Lantern?

Personally, I'd prefer an entire JLA movie. Patrick Stewart would make a perfect Lex Luthor for the Legion of Doom.

I think most of these movies are just riding the X-Men bandwagon. After that one was such a hit, ya gotta make more. However, Ben Afflec as DD? Thats just plain crazy!

hmm... Yeah I've been thinking about that too...
why are they making so many superhero movies? hmm.... this whole summer, it's been about something getting 'magical' powers or having some sort of special power.... *shrugs*

I know what you mean 'bout too many super-hero movies being released. Though if you ask me, I think Spiderman started this "chain reaction' of movies. It could be because the producers see Spiderman as a popular movie, so they decide to make one in the same gap.....

Either way, I'll be seeing "The Hulk"....

Actually, it was probobly more X-Men, which grossed a huge amount of money. But your right, Spidey probobly raised the bar a little higher than X-Men. Can't wait for X2 and Spidey 2.

It's all about $$$$$$.

Spiderman got so hyped even before it came out, so everyone jumped on. Now that the movie did even better than anyone thought it would, I bet even more superhero movies are being planned. It also helped than X-Men did very well too. I'm glad Marvel is finally getting out of all it's problems.

Personally, I could do without a Hulk movie. It could be good though. X-Men 2 should be great too. And I'd assume they are making another Spiderman.

What I really want is a Ghost Rider movie. I'd definately go see that.

:babble:
Actually, there's plans out to make a Ghost Rider movie. It was supposed to be released next year and filming should've started already, but the production company and scrrenwriters changed at the last minute and now they have to start all over again. There's gonna be a Ghost Rider movie, but expect it to come out in 2004.

heh, in years to come, the 2000-2005 year period will be known as the Superhero phase in the movie business.

I don't really mind them making movies about comic book characters and such as long as the movies are good and aren't cheesy or corny. but if they keep it up for too long, ppl are gonna start saying "good lord, not another one" whenever a new superhero movie goes in theaters.

I think the reason there are so many superhero movies in development now is because one man decided to do it, so others decided to follow in suit. You know how people are: You don't really want something until you see that someone else has it. Then it HAS to be yours. And now since Spiderman became so popular, those are other movies will be right around the corner. I bet every single character from Super Friends will have their own movie before long.

Of course, you can't really say this is a RECENT development. Batman movies have been coming out for years.

Actually, Marvel had been planning on releasing a bunch of movies based on their characters since like 96. But they went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 97 or 98 (notice how every major Marvel cartoon went off the air that year) and could only shell out a budget to get the Blade movie done. That was a success and Marvel came out of Bankruptcy so they started back at the beginning. Personally I love this wave. Blade 2 was awesome, X-men so-so, SPider-Man dominates. DD and Hulk had better be good. It would be nice to see Green Lantern in a movie. I'd like to see Hal Jordan but then everyone wants Kyle Rayner. Long as they have an evil Lantern with a yellow ring (maybe a resurrected Sinestro) I'll be happy. JLA would kick butt as well. Yes, I know all these guys cause I have no life.

Oooohhhhhhh, I had no idea that was why all my favorite Marvel cartoons went off the air. And here I thought Spiderman went off the air because Marvel was a bunch of jerks who wanted you to buy an ancient issue of the comic just to find out what happened to Mary Jane. All this time, they simply ran out of money.
