Ben Holiday
Man I just started watching series X and I can say without a doubt this is boring i'm on episode 6 and completely blown away at how bad this is 1. Music is unpleasant 2. It looks like they took a step back in their animation 3. The gundams the main one looks like Wing from gw but with a big x strapped to its back another looks like a veritech fighter it even has the veritechs guns from macross last but not least another gundam ends up looking like a mobile doll from the end of the gw series! This makes me sad I really hope this picks up in further episodes, If not moving straight on to series Z is what i'll be doing.
BondFanatic
I've seen a bit of X, but I have to disagree on one part. The animation isn't that bad.
Emma
It depends on what you are looking for. GX has a good story and great characters. As a series in alternative universe, GX shares many ideas with UC Gundam. It basically follow the logic of UC. GX is a story about human, not flashy mecha fighting. The MS in GX cannot destory 50 enemies at once like the one in GW. They are more realistic. Understanding Char's speech in Dahka (Zeta Gundam, eps. 37) and the technology of Angle Halo (Victory Gundam) are very helpful along with all the UC Gundams with newtype. GX gives a very good explanation of the concept of newtype. GX is very nicely animated. There are only a little re-use footage, unlike GW where many of the battle scenes are recycled. The characters look more "normal" as there are fewer strange hair styles. Both GW and GX has the same mechas designer (Okawara, the designer of RX-78 and many others). Therefore, some of the mechas look similar. If you look carefully, you will find that the design of GX is quite different from GW. X is more "useable" as it has much more weapons than Wing. As for Double X, it looks more like Nu from CCA, in my opinion. There is no mobile doll in GX. The technology of "Flash system" is quite different from mobile doll. Mobile doll are MSs with pre-program routines. However, Bits of Flash system follow the order of the newtype pilot in the battlefield. A single newtype can control a team of MS at the same time. GX is a human drama, like all other Gundams. It tells stories of human suvival after the destruction of the world where most people have already lost hope. As a longtime UC fan, I think GX is the best AU series along with Turn A Gundam.
Ben Holiday
After watching the first nine episodes of Z last night i've had to completely change my mind on X. Series X being the only gundam series that i've seen competely through besides W it seems that I should have paid more attention to the first series when it was airing because during the first three episodes of Z most of what was bothering me in X was answered (besides the horrible end music of X). It now seems that W was more of an alternate universe than X, X just fits in better suddenly. After watching the first disc of Z i'm now more of a fan of this than I am of W as soon as I finish up Z i'm going to have to go find the first series and see it all the way through. 1. The end theme is still unpleasant. 2. They didn't take a step back in their animation they just went back to the older style which was a good thing. 3. I still think they ripped off a veritech.
