Umm...*akward diminishing* could somebody finally tell me what do "lol" and "rofl" mean, because I'm a self-learned net-addict, and it's been bothering me forever...

And if somebody would want to explain "the home keys", since I don't live in an english-speaking country, and they don't teach you that stuff on school or tv...thanks.:blush:

Home keys are basically keeping your left hand's fingers on A, S, D and F and the right hand's fingers on J, K, L and ;. Your thumbs are supposed to rest on the space bar. If you want to press other keys you move a finger away from the home keys, press it and then go back.

Personally, I just type and it comes out well. I don't really use the home keys... I just leave my hands somewhat near them and use my index finger to press the space bar. I type fast enough haha.

Me? Type with home keys? That'll be the day...

I thought the idea of home keys was stupid. I mean, what difference does it make the way you type? I think it's rather pointless.

I type with all my fingers and such, but having a certain finger for F is just...well, stupid.

(Don't shoot me; it was just an opinion!)

When I was a little kid I usually played around with a really, really old computer (30Mhz with a 10Meg hard drive!). I used to use my index fingers before my mom taught me how to position my hands so I could type faster. I hardly use my pinkie fingers though, except for hitting the shift and A key.

Crash course in Net shorthand.

LOL=Laughing out loud
ROFL=Rolling on floor laughing
LMBO [LMAO]-Laughing my butt off
IMO/IMHO/IMNSHO= In my [not so humble] opinion
L33T='leet'=an internet crazy languyage that involves lots of numbers and symbols in place of letters.

And Sage...the home row, or homekeys, is/are the keyboard keys [asfd [g h] jkl; on a QWERTY keyboard] that one is supposed to use for typing. Each of your fingers [minues thumbs, which 'live' at the spacebar] are supposed to go back to a certain key after typing any other letter. Index fingers 'live' at j and f, for example... Dunno if you've got QWERTY or not... ^^_

I don't really use the home keys at all. My fingers start out on them, but as I type they just scurry around and whatnot. After every sentence though, they return to them. I guess that's why them call them the "home" keys, lol.

By the way, "rofl" means "Rolling On the Floor Laughing" [edit] Curse you, Cera -_____-

I learned how to type from some Mavis Beacon computer game that my dad got back way back when, so the 50 minutes typing classes I had to take in school were perfectly pointless. I'm still pretty decent at typing, though it's slowed down a bit now and I can't do numbers or these little thingies [] without looking :cross:.

Off topic: talking about ISH(Internet Short Hand), anybody know what CCEB is? I think it's a Digimon thing, or a form of torture.

On topic: "Typing of the Dead" :therock: Oh yeah, what a great name for a typing program. :rolleyes: Seriously, though, what does it do(well, duh, it teaches you how to type, but I mean, does it have anything special, or extra fun or anything)?

Typing of the Dead is basically House of the Dead, but you type instead of using a light gun. You have to type words and sentences to shoot the enemies that are charging at you.

Typing of the Dead doesn't have lessons per se, but it still helps. When you have monsters running at you, you have to type as fast and precisely as possible. Especially in later stages, where you have to type entire sentences. I certainly think it's worth $10 bucks... It's incredibly fun, and I've gotten much more out of it than any of those boring typing programs you see otherwise...

With the exception of one where you have to type to get a little pink bunny to go eat a carrot... That was okay too :).

She said stuff like 'Connor, don't press G with the F finger' and all this other crap that I just barely listened to. I don't care. I type with both my Index fingers, that's it. Sure, it's wierd, and the teacher moaned a whole lot, but then when I got 85 words per minute in the typing test... Ha. Showed her.
you type that fast with 2 fingers, Whaattt!!!! :eek:

My typing teacher lived the home row keys. Every day "Remember everyone, A-S-D-F-J-K-L-;!" It was annoying. I never use it. I used start out like that, but I eventually went to my unusual way of typing. Can't really explain it. But hey, if you type only 42 gwam one way, and 70 the other, which would you choose?
