Ravenstorture
Alastuin stood, hunched over the screaming woman, up to her elbows in blood. A thousand villagers swarmed around her, telling her what to do, what not to do, and muttering about a non-church-goer with it's hands in the Domain of the Lord. She shut it out, concentrating on the shapes sliding under her fingertips and the moans and screams of the woman who's womb she was reaching into. An ear, another... there it was. Stubborn little bastard. "Shut up, all of you, for christ's sake!" She yelled. She knew she had pushed it a little too far, the room fell silent. "I need to concentrate, please... I have it." A collective sigh of relief and the blasphemy was forgotten. Alastuin braced her legs against the rough kitchen table and pulled, her hands emerging with screaming infant in tow. Clothes peg, meat cleaver, umbilical cord to the dog and the afterbirth in the fire. The mother's tears of pain turned to tears of joy as Alastuin dunked the baby in a tub of warm water at her side and swathed it in linen, handing it to the mother, much to the father's dismay. As soon as she had washed herself off and discarded her apron, a black robed man pulled her aside into the next room. The oohs and aahs were shut out by a heavy wooden door and an iron blot, and Alastuin's father turned to face her. Father Grindam: Alastuin, that was brilliant. Thank you for stepping in at the last moment. Alastuin: Don't patronise me, you hated calling for me and we both know it. The mother gave her consent because she was in intense pain. The father gave his consent because his wife was holding his hand at the time. Everyone else didn't want to go against the parent's wishes. Grindam: Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. It's getting, well.... They want me to call an inquisitor against you. One's coming soon, anyway, you know, they pass through here often, as you know, but this time... I don't think I can let you through. Alastuin looked into the eyes of her father, the eyes of the man who had killed most of his family to save his own *** and was now sacrificing his own daughter to keep his shiny record untarnished with the church. It made her sick. She didn't think. One minute rage was burning within her, the next he was lying on the floor with blood running everywhere. Not on her though, she knew what she was doing. It was time to leave.
The Harlequin
Lacroix stood, the body of the priest sinking down onto that of the torturer. After killing his parents, did they except mercy. Lacroix picked up two of the odd shaped knives on the table, cross handled, with a barbed shaft running down the forearm. One for each hand. He also picked up a black cloak off one of the many bodies lying around. It was in good condition. He put it on, and drew the hood it. It hid the still oozing scars perfectly. He turned, mounted the stairs, and left his life behind.
Guest cloricus
The night was dark and the flames flying six and seven feet in to the air. Crowds of town?s people where hollering, "Burn you heretic scum!" over and over. They brought a woman up to the ledge that had been constructed so that they could throw the unclean in to the centre of the flames with easy. She was thrown in with out hast. Horse Screams started coming out of the fire as the woman stood up for all to view her painful death, as if only her final act was to deify them. As the thin cloths she was wearing started to burn away to reveal her breasts and thighs parents quickly moved to overt their children?s eyes. Then her skin began to crack a peal and then fall away, she could no longer stand as the blood in her body started to boil. The smell was over powering. I tried to turn away but could not; the guard that was holding me grabbed my head and lined up my face with the shrivelled body slowly burning away to nothing. "Watch it you outsider, your next" He laughed. "Good bye my second true love...." I muttered under my breath A sudden pain came from the back of my neck. "What did you say?" The guard again. "You will live no longer for the acts you have just allowed to be committed" I replied. I really should have given him more warning because by the time I had said this he was falling away from a hidden dirk that I had managed to hold on to. I slipped quietly away though the long line of people about to be burned. No one was listening or watching any more they were all transfixed on the green and blue flames.... I left the town, I had to get away, find a new course to fight for. With just one thing for certain it would not be on the church?s side. OOC: Sorry about the spelling, I am trying. Corey
I sat on the floor of my cell, rocking back and forth. I was edgy, and slightly neurotic from my long imprisonment. A cockroach wobbled defiantly into my 'room'. I raised a finger slowly and burned it alive. I got up and sat on my bed. "Soon..." I told myself. "Soon I would break out of here and make them pay." One of the gaurds wrapped on my cell with an iron rod. I looked up at him sharply, with hating eyes. Gaurd- "You in the courtyard today. Get going!" My cell door creaked open and I was forced rudely out. I was lead down the hallway and finnaly came to a large steel door. Someone from the outside opened it and light hit my eyes. I shielded my brow and walked out. The day was warm. I was going to be sweating before long. A pick-ax was forced into my hands and the door shut behind me. I walked slowly into the Pit. The Pit was a place where we mined ore for the Church. One day we would be mining gold, and the next a vein of siler would be discovered. Once we were even forced to mine lead. Many of the prisoners died during that month. None of them were really my friends, but I was angered at their death. I jumped down into the Pit and was immediatly greeted by one of the prisoners I was closer with. He also knew magic. When I escaped I would bring him with me. His name was Colin. Last names didn't matter in here. He gave me a weak smile and I returned it. I went deep into the mine and turned at the gold mining tunnel. This, as well, was part of my plan. I got to the vein and started hiting the wall. A small chunk of gold came off. I stuffed it into my undergarment and mined more. By the time the shift bell rang I had mined at least ten pounds of gold. It was very good. Much more than anyone else would mine, but they would still beat me. I was a magic user. They didn't care. And neither did the other inmates. I walked back up the Pit with my bag. I put it in the cart and was dragged to the side by another gaurd. He had a bat type weapon. He raised it and brought it down on my left arm. The pain shot through me. I caught a sad look from Colin. I nodded at him, indicating that I would escape tonight. He nodded back as the bat came down again on my leg. Half an hour later I was lead back to my cell, bloodied and bruised. I took out some belladonna I had sneaked into the prison and ate some. Most of my wounds healed. I looked out of the cell window and waited for the sun to go down.
Kevin
Rin sat there under a massive tree while looking over the countryside."What a beautiful sunset..." He says as he stares at the gold and orange sky. Then he looks down at a town below, he sees many fires start to blaze up, knowing what they symbolize. "How could they..." He says sadly. Rin then turns and looks at his tranquil surroundings, he gives a soft smile. He closes his eyes and lets out a sigh. Then there is a load crack, Rin opens his eyes and looks to his left. He sees 5 men, one with a whip, the other 4 carrying various weapons. Rin stands up and grabs his massive sword. "Give up Naive! We out number you 5 to 1, you dont stand a chance!" The man with the whip says. Rin gets into a defensive posture and waits for the men to charge. One of the men charges at him with a short sword, he swings at Rin's neck. Rin ducks, spins around and rabs his sword into the mans back. The man grabs his stomach as he lurches to the ground. Rin turns back to the other 4 men. They are all shocked at what he just did to there friend. 3 of the men bolt off in fear, leaving the man with the whip alone. With fear in his voice, "Give...up....". He swallows hard. Rin takes a step forward and then the man runs off with the rest of his men. Rin lets out a sigh as he cleans off his blade. He starts to make his way down the hill he was on. He looks down at the town he is about to head into, it is a small town but there is a fire in the square. He shakes his head as he nears the bottom of the hill. Ravenstorture
Alastuin returned to the main room, careful to open the door only as wide as was necessary and shut it quickly behind her. Many of the villagers had returned to their houses, and the few that remained paid no heed to her and noticed not that the priest had remained in the small room. She gathered her meagre belongings and noticed happily that most of the bloody mess had been cleaned up. She reluctantly blessed the baby with her mother-charms and bid her farewell. The villagers, close family of the infant, seemed happy and content in Alastuin's presence, a good sign. She took the fastest route out of the village and hiked through the forest the rest of the way home, circumnavigating the village and giving it wide berth. As soon as she returned home, she closed all the shutters curled up on her bed, crying fitfully. Her father had killed her mother and sister, and now she had killed her father. A monster, but a part of her all the same. She had blocked out the memories of the times when he used to love her, but the scent of them still drifted through the barrier and stung her eyes. Regaining composure, she weighed her options over a bowl of chamomile tea. The goddess smiled down at her from her position in the corner-shelf, and she smiled back. After all the **** she had put up with, she had never lost her faith. Alastuin sighed and rinsed the bowl, calling for her cat Septimus and feeding it porridge and cream, to tired to hunt anything for the fat, black feline she was so attached to. The herbs could stay, she thought, there are plenty out there. Clothing packed in a satchel, dagger strapped safely to her leg, tinderbox, burn balm, a bandage or two, a metal figurine of the goddess, and she was ready. She buried the herbs in the backyard. The house was nearly completely empty without them? Septimus looked at her from the kitchen table. "Don't go out there dressed like that, you fool." He told her. Alastuin looked at him sharply. "What did you call me? And what do you mean, dressed like this?" Septimus yawned and rolled on his back, oblivious of the conversation Alastuin was having with herself. She looked at her black velvet robes and sighed. Returning to her room, she brought out a length of black velvet and draped it over her head, crossing it over her shoulders at the front and securing it with a gold hairpin. Nearly?. Crossing to the other side of her room, she stood before an altar bearing candles and various other elemental symbols. A string of large, wooden rosary beads hung off one corner. She sighed and picked them up, attaching them to her satchel so they hung down to her knee. Apart from the quarterstaff she strapped to her back she looked the part. So, scrubbing the blood out from under her long fingernails, she left her house, walking directly away from the village. Septimus followed at a safe pace. Corey
Two hours had passed since the sun had went down. All of the plans I had made for escape over the years now seemed worthless. All of them seemed to end with me getting hit by an arrow. I frowned and focused the magic that was bursting forth into a small ball of fire. I rolled the ball out of my cell and watched it explode. Three gaurds came running. I tried to look surprised and stunned. It seemed to work because the gaurds went away. I looked out the window at Colins cell. He was pacing, waiting for me to give him a signal. I frowned again and sat down. I had to do something. Colin was counting on me. I thought for about five minutes and nodded. I had a plan that might work. I made one of the exploding balls again, then I made nine more. I threw them out of my cell towards the gaurds. They exploded killing three of them instantly. I broke down the wall of my cell with a burst of air. All of the alert fires were lit in the courtyard immediatly. I ran out towards Colins cell. I raised my hand and his wall fell two stories to the ground. He looked at me. Julian- "C'Mon!" He jumped down, aided with some magic, and caught up to me. Colin- "What do we do now?" He was already getting out of breath. Julian- "Brace yourself." I layed my hand on his arm as we were running. His skin was covered by fire immediatly. he shrieked and started beating at the flames. I yanked him along, pointing out the flames do not hurt him. I lit myself just as the rain of arrows came down on us. The arrows touched the flames and crisped in mid-air. We got to the iron fence and ran right through it. The flames melting away the metal for us. We ran into the woods and extinguished the fires. Colin- "Where do we go now?" I was getting sick of hi questions. He really expected me to know all of the answers. My plan went as far as the forest. After that... Julian- "I don't know... I guess that we find a place to stay for the next few days. I have a relative, an Aunt, about three miles away from here. We should be able to get there in about four hours if we don't run into a river." The Harlequin
Lacroix heard a lot of murmering as he left the Church. He spun, his hands darting to his knives, thinking that they were directed at him. Instead, a stranger had entered the village. Lacroix gracefully darted through the crowd, and then stopped short. Towards the village, came a young woman. Lacroix stood motionless, amazed that a being of such beauty could exist. He stood aside as a delegation from the village went to meet her. From the first, it looked ugly. Very ugly. As the village elder's tone grew louder, and more accusing, those behind Lacroix started to mutter, about heresy and witchcraft. Lacroix spun, eyeing those closest to him. Unaware of who this black clad stranger was, only knowing he was armed, they fell back from him. He stepped backwards, deftly keeping balance. When a safe distance away, he turned and walked swiftly towards the female. The village elders turned and yelled at him. He ignored them. Very soon, they were lying with their throats ripped out. The woman looked at him in surprise. Lacroix: You wouldn't want to talk to them. Beleive me. Corey
We stumbled over the grassy hill just as the sun began to shine it's first rays over the horizon. I gave Colin a smile and started down toward my Aunts house. It was old. So was she. The house was built at least 70 years ago and had had many repairs done to it. It was made of logs. I got to the door, smoother out the simple white uniform I had on, and knocked. Colin and I exchanged looks of uncertanty when no one answered after about a minute. I knocked again. Nothing... Julian- "Aunt Margerie? Are you there?" I heard shuffling inside the house. "Auntie Marge?" More shuffling, and this time a muffled scream. I looked at Colin with scared eyes. This was one of a handful of relatives of mine that were still alive. I tried the doornob. It turned easily and the door opened. I stepped inside cautiously. Another muffled screm from the rear of the house. I stepped further in, Colin coming cautiously behind me. ???- "Run Juian! It's a trap!" That was my Aunts voice. I froze on the spot. A net came down and covered both me and Colin. I yelled with surprise as the oil lamps came on. There were about ten gaurds jammed into this small house. Eight were holding the net and two were holding a knife against my Aunts throat. Gaurd 1- "Don't move. I will kill her if you don't come with us." I looked at him menacingly as Colin started to fight back. I whirrled around and tried to tell him to stop. He froze a gaurd and shattered him. Just as he turned to attack another, the gaurd on my right shoved a dagger into his neck. He fell to the ground making a desperate gurgling sound. I looked away and at my Aunt. She was also making the gurgling sounds. The gaurd that spoke was wiping off the knife he had used to slit her throat. I looked from Aunt Marge, to Colin, and back again. The gaurd started to speak again and was quieted by a bolt of lightning to his head. He fell to the ground, limp and crispy. Three gaurds rushed me at once. They were hurled back by a blast of air. Two were impaled on rafters and the other was ripped in half by the gust. The last three started to run. I walked outside, knowing what was going to happen to them. I picked up some dirt and gripped it. The first man that just got over the hill was suddenly fifty feet in the air, impaled on a stone portrusion. The second man fell into a gigantic fissure that appeared in front of him. The earth snapped close on him, and a sheet of blood squirted into the air. The last man wa brought directly in front of me by a wave of loose dirt. Julian- "You listen to me, and you listen good. You have killed my family. You have killed my friend. You are a employee of the Church and that makes you my enemy. Go back to the Church. Tell them that they will fall." He was launched twenty feet away by the wave. He scurried up and ran throught the woods toward the prison. I went into the house again and dragged the bodies of the gaurds out, setting them in a pile. I buried my Aunt and Colin. Then I burned the bodies of the gaurds. I found a green velvet suit, that must have belonged to my uncle, and put it on. It fit well and looked good on me. I picked up the knife that was used to kill my Aunt and slid it into a sheath. I walked out of the house and started toward the V-I-L-L-A-G-E. -------------------------------- OOC: Oooh... Kevin
Rin stood there at the outskirts of town. He looked into the town and saw nothing, it was barron and cold. Noone was around at all. He looked to the sky and saw a dark cloud rise up from the center of town. The smell of burnt wood filled the air and the nose of Rin. He began to ran towards the center of town before it was too late. When he reached the square of town he saw the whole town standing around and cheering. He slowly worked his way through the massive crowd of jeering people. When he finally broke through the crowd he saw a burning corpse tied to a big piece of wood. Rin: Another burning... He saw a man with red hair and a tourch with his hand that had a very pleased look on his face. Man: The Witch is no more!!! The crowd cheered loudly, thinking they have done the right thing by burning the woman. The man with the red hair turned towards Rin and looked very displeased. He pointed to Rin and said Man: Look at this foul miscrient. Pathetic, isnt he? It is men like me that try to put an end to heretics like you. The man signaled to a few of his friends to surround Rin. Before they got to him though he already jumped onto the platform that the man was standing on. Rin held his blade to the man's throat. The man chuckled. Man: Go ahead, kill me. This will further prove me correct on your heresy. You know if you kill me every single person in this town will come after you and see to it that you are exterminated. Do you think you can handle every man, woman and child in this town Naive? Rin: It doesnt matter to me weather you live or die, you have already commited an act that is unforgivable by burning this innocent woman.' Man: Innocent? Her? Dont make me laugh, we caught her in the act of practicing her satanic ways. She burned for her crimes agianst god and his followers. Rin lowered his blade and jumped off the platform. He turned around and walked back through the crowd. The crowd was yelling at him and throwing whatever they could pick up at him as he passed through. The man yelled out. Man: Thats right, you run. But we will catch you eventually and you will suffer the same fate as the wench! The crowd cheered at what the man said. Rin ignored the slanderous comment and turned the corner into a dark alley. He placed his sword on the ground and sat agianst the side of the building. He just sat there, thinking, nort saying a word to anyone that would happen to pass by the alley or try to give him something.

Kevin
The smell of burning flesh flooded into Rins nose. He grabbed his blade as he stood up. He stepped out of the dark alley. Once more he could see noone, not a trace of any living soul. He turned around and ran back into the alley, this time going to the end and taking many turns. Not sure where he was heading to. He popped out at another empty street and looked around, still no sign of anyone. Then he saw two people come out of an alley a little ways down the street. He wasnt sure what to do. So he hid back in the dark alley and decided he would follow the two.
Guest cloricus
After returning to my log house out in the fields near the town. I retrieved my long sword and collected my other personal belongings that numbered very few. I went about the task of burning my house, really just to save the towns people the trouble. Sitting there watching the flames rage started to well up in my mind. "They will all die..." I whispered to myself. A stupid thing to do but the feeling of fate was drawing me to the town. The walk was quick and it seemed that every one had slowly gathered at the burning so that now the whole town was there so I had no opposition on my way in. When I got into the town were two people. A male and female who gave a quick glance and looked away? Walking along I found a man just sitting on the ground in an alleyway. "What?s wrong with you stranger?" I said in a low voice not to attract attention from the few towns people still milling around. "Did you not see that woman, 'have you no cares..." He replied. "She was my wife... Now get up." He just glanced back with a blank face. "I want to go kill them all, you want to help?" I said with joy in my voice. "Fight the church, count me in." He replied still a bit confused by the offer. "What is your name?" I asked. "Rin; and yours?" "My name is Lucid" Rin: Fine what first? Lucid: I want to find two people I saw on the way in; and also see if there is any one else... They walked off. OOC: Um well it looks like FF7 beet me to posting this... But mine has more of a story line so um? *Looks...* Can we use mine becouse then there's a reason for every one to meet not just "oh they meet by acciedent" and also we get to kill the church people in that town... if you want to... Ravenstorture
Well, for one thing, "the town" seems to be pretty vague at the moment. Not Canterbury, not yet... that is the biggest fish of them all. The whole city is just a mass of cloisters and cathedrals... I don't know how we are going to manage it, but I do sense that it may turn out like that customs scene in the matrix, but medieval style. If it's possible... basically one of those huge melees where everyone stands on the sideline until the hero is ready to fight them, so he is never fighting more than one guy at a time, whereas in REAL life if you had a whole town against you they would just get you to the ground and beat the crap out of you but that's another thing entirely... Getting back to the point, I have no idea where we are. Where are we? Manchester? Sounds good. Ok, we'll all meet up in Manchester and then go and **** over Canterbury. Harlequin, my love, would you please suggest something infinitely better, or are you going to be ok with this? I'm all out...
The Harlequin
OOC: Bleh. To all of you. We are in my home VILLAGE. That's right. VILLAGE. Manchester my ***. I think not. Think small town people. Very small. Maybe three streets, all unpaved. V-i-l-l-a-g-e. Or did nobody pick up on that? And really, who are you going to kill? I killed the only damn priest in town with my first post. So you're not fighting the Church at all. You'd be fighting a bunch of peasants. And what the hell is the point in that. Corey
The road to the village was easy and uneventful. I passed two people on a horsedrawn carriage on my way there. They tipped their hats at me and said a greeting of hello. I smiled and greeted them back. I must look rich with the green suit on. The town just came into view as the light faded from the sky. I smelled smoke and something that smelled an aweful lot like burning meat. My mouth salivated even though I knew what it was. I spit out the excess saliva with a feeling of deep disgust. I walked to the center of town and saw a woman standin alone looking around the dark alley. I walked up to her, as non threateningly as I could and spoke: Julian- "Excuse me miss. Would you happen to know where I could find a place to stay for the night? I just got into town and was wondering..." A sudden burst of voices behind us made me trail off and turn around. A group of Church Gaurds were walking up the unpaved streets of the village. They were knocking on doors and pounding on windows. They were also wielding torches. A strangled cry escaped me and I heard one from my left as well. I turned quickly attepmting to make a small ball of fire, but could make no more than a spark. My powers were drained. I gulped and watched, dumbstruck, as the Gaurds came this way.
Guest cloricus
Well at the moment this is ****ed. I was in my home village (Well not home because my char moved around allot but my starting village) and after escaping from the burning was going to go off and find every one else, but it seems every one put a "burning" stage in theirs or made reference to it. For the lack of Harlequins "good idea" I say that we all delete post from after and including LiamC2's that comes at the end of the last page and every one walks or ends up in Manchester leavening any towns behind. That would solve it and get the story line back on track. Or just **** it up worse but unless you can think of any thing else?
The Harlequin
OOC: Cloricus, you're the one that posted you running into Alastuin and I. So you ****ed it, not the rest of us. I never suggested anything, I merely pointed out that everyone seemed to miss a lot. Quite a lot. Now, you lot can do what you like. I'm continuing with what I had. And I'm running this into a fantasy tangent, regardless of objections. IC: After several hours of travel through the forest, the howl of wolves echoed through the night. The air seemed to chill. Lacroix drew his knives, glancing around in something almost nervously. He quickened his pace, the undergrowth pressing on him ever closer. Glowing, intelligent eyes peered out at him from the dense brush. He started running. The only warning he had was a snarl. A wolf leapt out at him, fangs bared. He dived sideways and spun his knife out. The wolf's own momentem gutted it. He rolled to his feet and ran on. The clearing was darker than moonblack. Lacroix cautiously edged across. About halfway, he ran into a large rock. As soon as he touched it, ethereal blue light emanated from it. The rock was regular shaped, and traced with cracks. Lacroix examined it closer, only to find that the cracks were actually runes. He scraped his fingers upon one set. A shimmering appeared on the altar. It solidified into another wolf. This one was bigger. A lot bigger. And it's breath froze in the air. A Winter Wolf. OOC: All I will apologise for here is that my post quality has gone to hell.
Guest cloricus
Yeah blame Cloricus - read up the page (You do know how to do that right? The scroll bar?) ? Liam, fin and YOU all talked about things in my post and I just posted following what ever I could of this ****ed up story line. And since the quality of the story line in degrading fast I think some thing should be done about it. At the moment we can continue and find a way to sort it out and just forget about the beginning or start again from close to the beginning. In the end it's Ravens decision and I take it she will go with what you say so...

Guest cloricus
*Looks...* Any way I have the feeling that since harlemin has put in fantasy that the story line will be bending to allow for that?
