Well this is a quickie of a short story, spawned from a piece of artwork at the Downlands Art Exhibition, a class assignment really.

Ask MarBar, MarBar knows allllllllllllll about it as he's in my class

Without further ado:

Eden
The old man bent forward, gnarled hands sifting through the red sand. Many times he had been here to search for trinkets that were hidden in the scrap metal. He blinked, blue eyes watering as the harsh wind blew sand across his face. He raised his veil higher until his eyes were blue jewels peeking out of a dark cave.

A large piece of metal was pulled out of the sand by the wind and hurled at the old man. He heard the noise and looked up, casually stepping to one side, again anxiously searching for something of interest.

Hours went by, still nothing, but the wind had vanished, that was as bonus. No wind would let the suns shine their light over all of the wreckage and illuminate unearthed treasure.

He stood straight, massaging his backbone before climbing up the dune. When at the top he lowered the veil and raised a hand to shield his eyes from the harshness of the suns.

He glanced round; aching for something of worth that could help feed him for another day. At last! A glimmer! He smiled, causing his tanned face to exaggerate the already prominent wrinkles.

He slid down the dune, running past the rusted shells of once mighty vessels that sailed the oceans that is the sky. But that was a long time ago, when the planet was filled with life and water, before the outsiders came.

A long time ago the planet was a paradise, often called Eden by people who came. The inhabitants of the planet were pleased to see others from off the world, agreeing to let them stay. A mistake they would soon regret. The outsiders came in their large vessels and started to pump water from Eden to fill their own.
The people of Eden, seeing their world was dieing, tried to stop the outsiders, conflict arose. Soon war broke out. The outsiders own weapons were used against them, their mighty vessels were destroyed, the wreckage now littered over most of the desert that Eden now is.

The remaining outsiders left with their precious cargo, leaving the people of Eden to die.
The old man stopped at an almost intact fighter vessel, intact albeit one sheared off wing. He walked forward, edging closer to the pointy part of the vessel. The shiny treasure he was seeking was really broken glass. He sighed, turning to go home, but his eye was caught by something else. He walked in for a closer inspection? There! Something gold rimmed, something of worth!

He reached forward and prised the trinket from the remnants of an outsiders face. The old man had seen these before, when he was a child, when the people of Eden were powerful. Yes, yes they were! Glasses! Strange though?these glasses have only two lenses?what a strange people these outsiders were. The old man grinned and pocketed the treasure, three blue eyes blinking in the harshness of the two suns.

*edit* :p
