GhostofSalvtore
I just want to hear people's opinions on the game, Halo, just to see why it's such a great game, I beat the game and I am a huge FPS fan and I did enjoy the game, but some of the times I just felt like I was running around getting lost and replaying alot of missions again and again. Ryan
I like shooting aliens and seeing their guts fly everywhere lol! I thought there would never be a better game after the 007 games came out then here cam Halo. Believe me I was surprised. I played it for the first time and my friends house and I was hooked. We never went to bed(sleep over) because all we did was play Halo. After that I went and bought an Xbox and bought the game and played it more. It is like the Harry Potter books, you just can't put it down. But after I beat the game it sort of became old and I got into SSX Tricky and snowboarding games. And also fighting games. But I still play it occasionally.

Semjaza
I like Halo, and I don't. I don't think it's the be all, end all of FPS games... but it is probably the best one to ever come to a console. The main problem to me... it's SO repetitive. There is one area near the start of the game where you crawl through an air duct. Fine enough. But then you do it again...and again... and again. And all the rooms connected by the ducts look EXACTLY the same. Then in the alien areas... All the tunnels look exactly the same, sans some color changes. Not to mention the aliens... You fight the same 3 aliens for hours before you see something new. I don't find color changes all that different personally. One area comes to mind in particular though. You are outside and come to a large gray tower, where you must fight tons of aliens. You think you are done and more just keep coming. When you finally finish, you go farther into the area, only to come to another tower. Which look exactly the same, and has the same things happening. I know these things aren't all incredibly frequent in the game, but what is there was just repeated ad nauseum. They certainly got to me enough that I lost most of my interest in the game. I managed to get through it though, and it does pick up again. There are a lot of good points though. The presentation in the game is amazing. The menus, the interfaces, the sound, most of the graphics... they are excellent. The actual game is fun as well, other than my one problem with it. The best part is co-op though. To me, that is what makes this one of the best FPS games there are. It also has a level of polish that I've yet to see in most FPS games. Most good FPS games on PC recently have been adding RPG elements... I'm glad Halo didn't really. Sure it has some parts where you need to think, but it also did what it should have done: let you kill lots and lots of aliens. I'm getting tired of FPS games where I have to micromanage my equipment and sneak by everything. Sometimes you just want a great firefight, and Halo has some of the best ones I've been involved in so far. The good outweighs the bad :).
GhostofSalvtore
I like the game but actually I do like sneaking around better, maybe not better in FPS's tho, but I did like the fact that you had a team most of the time helping you out. Another thing is the phobia of mine that is small lil aliens that jump on you and big ones that attack and slash at you, this really just creeps me out I jjust start to shoot everything and hope that I kill them or I just run real fast and hope they stop chasin me. NorykoAngelcry
With me, I was not that impressed with Halo. Repetitiveness, simple in challenge (and yes, I did try many of the difficulties), annoying X-Box controller (this game would have been awesome on the PC) . . list goes on. When I first saw this game, I was like, "whatever! It sucks!" Then a friend got an X-Box, and raved nonstop about this game. Well, he brought it over my house one night, and I sat down and played it. First impressions besides the X-Box controller were that it was a pretty curious game. The story was a sci-fi natured of course, but the storyline was still a bit lame, even for gaming standards. The opening was pretty good, having to rush around the ship. . And then came all the negatives. Switching guns was a unique approach, but annoying one, especially when dying, or trying to find more ammo for a certain gun. . . having to keep going back to the basic guns was so limiting in fun. I loved running behind my partner with a sniper rifle, tagging aliens before they even knew what hit them, that was GREAT! . . but on levels where you only had the automatics or the simple alien weapons was really annoying. Most of the levels were way too repetitive to be any fun. Running around the ships with all the halls that looked alike got to be headache inducing. Some of the outdoor levels were pretty fun, and jumping into a tank and loading up with troops all down the sides was very awesome, but it felt like there were far too little of those scenes going on in the game. Now again, I didn't think this was any ultra awesome FPS. I did however think that it was much better then I really gave it credit for. I would like to see this on PC (are there any plans for it? . . *shrug*), but not really holding my breath. It was a pretty nice game save for the controller =/ This game was unique, but not really something that really caught my attention while playing. Oh well. . James
I don't think I have much to add, except that many comments that Halo is the game that "knocks Goldeneye off its perch as the best console FPS" are a little far-fetched. I think people are forgetting how truly astounding Goldeneye was when it was first released. Granted, Halo is a good game by any measure, but does it really do for console FPSs what Goldeney did? I don't think so. So, that comparision is a little unfair in my view. I'm kind of saddened that the gaming media seems to be leaning more and more towards high scoring games with good graphics. Just look at the reviews of DoA3...it was basically the same as DoA2, with very little innovation, yet due to its relative leap in graphics, it was awarded with high honors. In some respects, the gaming media is just as guilty as the gaming companies when it comes to graphics over gameplay.
GhostofSalvtore
Actually I have always thoght Perfect Dark was the best FPS if Halo had bots then it would probably get that cuz I really like the plasma grenades that stick its always fun to just throw grenades and hope they stick on your friends.
Perfect Dark was a worthy successor to Goldeneye, except for the irritating frame rate. Playing the game in lower resolution or in letterbox helped, but in the end, Rare pushed the game further than the N64 hardware could handle. That being said, the addition of multiplayer bots would have added to the overall game, but they wouldn't have erased many of the other flaws present in Halo. My largest gripes tend to coincide with everyone else's. The overall level design and repetitive nature of the game hurt the overall experience. But, Halo is still a fine game by any means. It's just not perfect like the EGM editors emphatically said, lol.

EGM gets a little ahead of themselves sometimes. ^-^;; But in my opinion, Halo was the same as Goldeneye meets Red Faction, but by no means as great as either of the games. Halo, was simply a more detailed in the aspects of the Aliens than RF. Personally, I disliked the demo of Halo I played. Overall it reminded me off, of course, a rip-off of Goldeneye as said before. Not something you wanna mess with. Besides the rather stunning graphics and somewhat interesting weapons, I found Halo to be a tad stiff. Nothing to get my feathers ruffled over. *gasps* Yes, Neil actually posted in PC. Get over it..-_- Maybe if you're all lucky, I might post in Nintindo...;P
