Am I depressed...or blowing it out of proportion?

Ginny, sis, bestest bud....

I was listening to this song almost nonstop the other day.... Carry you to Jesus, Steven Curtis Chapman. Listen to it, and think of me, okay? And write me. And I'll catch you on AIM. Because we need to talk.

I love you.

I dunno...but lately, I've been doing the whole, "What is my purpose?" bit. I keep wondering if people really like me for me, or if they only like what I do...if they are only nice to me for as long as it takes for me to go away.
This feeling was always there, it seems, but in the past few weeks, it's gotta out of hand...almost unbearable. Every couple of nights, I lie awake and just cry...wondering why it is this way. Is it my fault?
I've noticed that I've also dropped out of a lot of my "extra curricular" stuff over the past few months...my acting group, my speech club (and I was one away from being a certified speaker, too...), my bible study group.
Now, I promise you, I don't ever think about taking my life...I just keep wondering if the world would be any different regardless of if I had been in it or not.
I wish I could reach out to people more, but I feel like everytime I do, I lose them. I lost one of my best friends at the beginning of this year...my favorite uncle in May...I changed the church I grew up in a few weeks ago...

Am I depressed or just blowing this out of proportion?
Oh Gin. Everyone in the world matters, including you. "To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world." You matter very much to me.

I like you for you, not because of what you do. You're such a fun person to be around and you're always cheering everyone up. Don't ever change.

Though, if you're depressed, I highly, HIGHLY recommend talking to someone. Your Pastor, a teacher, a friend, and I know I'm not the closest to you, but if you ever need anyone to just listen to you, I'm always here.

P.S.: If you're leaving TheOtaku because of this, please reconsider, won't you?

you are going through something that alot of people go through and alot of other people dont. So i dont think we can say if you are blowing it out of proportion. If YOU feel like there is something truly wrong you need to rexamine everything and try and find out what is truly bothering you. Wether we like it or not we all influence someone, without knowing it usually. You are influencing everyone who is reading your post now. I know it can suck to feel alone, and not know why you cry, to just lie there not knowing why everything happens and what they say behind your back when you leave. Hope this thread helps you out.

You are not the only one. I have medication for chronic deppression, I came into the office thinking about suicide a few years ago... You have affected me quite a bit... you too James, as have everyone on the boards. Don't let depression take over you, just, try to be yourself and take how you would normally would. You'll eventually get over it, I know I will...

You wouldn't happen to be a Libra would you? Because I am and I feel the same way you do .. actually .. a bit more violently, and my other Libra friends are the same.

Anyways, everyone feels this way and I wish I could just say, "Cheer up it'll all go away".

But I'm not going to pretend it will. If your lucky it will. BUt it hasn't for me. I may just be depressing you more, I don't know, just, know that you are not alone.

Why does it matter what people think of you, if they don't like you that's their loss not yours. As for how you are feeling, yes everyone gets this feeling. I've had it multiple times. All you have to remember is that you are important (at least to some people) to people like your parents, grandparents, close friends, and so on. And look at yourself in a mirror, and say yes, I am important. Just try to be optimistic, try not to be so negative. You'll get over it. Just stay positive.

Hmmm, beleive it or not i went through the same thing recently and HAVE thought about taking my life, but in the bigger picture its not worth it. Ginny, I may not KNOW you personally but i know that you have a kind heart and no matter what troubles you it doesnt affect the way you treat people and thats always a good thing. All the advice I can give you would be to just grit your teeth and bare through it. *walks around otaku for a little while longer tring to find his purpose* Maybe we DONT have a purpose, maybe its more like a spur of the moment type of thing ne?
