Corey
Here it is. Make quality posts please. ------------------------------- I had been close. I sat down on the floor again and massaged my temples. The pain was enormus for a split second. I took a drag on my cigarette and exhaled slowly, trying to dull the pain in my head. Being a Contact wasn?t as glamorus as it used to be. Before the killings had started again all we were supposed to do is find possible threats and inform people of them. Now we teetered on the brink of having brain embolisms everytime we ?searched?. I snuffed out the cigarette on the floor and walked to the door of the small room. I knocked on the door and it was opened. ???- ?Any luck Mr. Schezar?? I looked at him with bleary eyes and smiled. Ryan- ?The only succes I had was in giving myself on hell of a headache.? He chuckled a little and handed me four aspirin. I dry swalowed them and gave him a pat on the shoulder. ?Thanks Tyrone.? Tyrone- ?No problem Sir.? I walked drunkely down the hall and pressed the elevator button. It opened and I stepped in, pressing the button with the Omega symbl on it. The elevator dropped down, deep below the ground. Leanin against the back wall I reflected on my session. I had almost died this time. I had been so close to finding ?The Threat?. One more minute and I would have had the identity. The doors opened again and I was looking into a room with red velvet carpeting. I saw the Overlord sitting at his desk, a old wooden thing. Overlord Tim- ?Come in Ryan. Did you have any luck?? Ryan- ?Not much Sir. I discovered that as of now it is in Norway, attacking our people there, but that?s it.? I looked at the floor. ?I almost had it Sir. I almost had it?s identity.? Tim ?Ryan, you look tired. I don?t want you conducting any more ?searches? this week. I want you to go out and hit the town.? I looked at him with pleading eyes. ?Ryan, don?t make me order you.? Ryan- ?Fine...? I turned away and then turned back to him. ?I can get it! Let me do one more session! I swear to you I can do it!? Tim shook his head. Tim- ?Ryan, your my best Contact. More than that, your my friend. I don?t want to have you dead. Now go and have a good time.? I opened my mouth to protest. ?That?s an order.? I furrowed my brow and sighed. Ryan- ?Fine. Four days. I will come back in four days and contiue my ?searches?.? Tim shook his head again. Tim ?One week. That?s also an order. I know you want to do this but you have to give yourself time to recouperate. You are the only Contact I know that goes out regularly. Now go. And enjoy yourself.? I scoweled and left his office. My headache was beaten away by my rage. One week without practice. I wouldn?t be able to get close for another two weeks after I came back. As the elvator went up to the ground level, I probed my possibilities. I couldn?t do a ?search? without the power in that room. So what did that leave me with? I frowned. I guess I HAD to enjoy myself. I walked down the street, thinking about recent (and not so recent) events. My family had been involved in the Dark Order for a very long time, living in New York. I had grown up friends with many people inside. The current Overlord had been my childhood friend. When I was twenty, my parent had been killed by a group of extremests that didn?t want to accept help from ?devil worshippers?. They bombed an aparment complex where they were living. I hunted them down and killed them. Since then I had been developing my mental abilities. I moved up in the order quickly and attained Contact status only four year ago. I shook my head. It still hurt to think of my parents. I turned my mind toward the new threat. What could it be.. I didn?t know. It was old. Everyone in the Order knew about it. It had spread like wildfire. I had been so close today...
The Harlequin
Water dripped onto his face. Lacroix woke with a start. He arose, his small wooden hut creaking around him. His meager possessions lay strewn about. Ignoring the usual clutter, Lacroix stepped outside. The sight never failed to take his breath away. Uninhabited, the island was one of the few unspoiled places on earth. The sky was a perfect blue. as was the water. The jungle was a thick enveloping canopy. He turned towards that darkened morass, that relfected him far better than the tranquility of the tropical beach vista in fron of his house. He entered that darkness, became one with it. He was not merely walking aimlessly. There was more to this island than was commonly known. It had once been inhabited. Lacroix was now off to some of the ruins that were around this island. And the walk gave time for reflections. The Dark Order had been somewhat ...benifical to him. Even if he didn't know any other life. BUt then they had dumped him here. Did they expect that to teach him not to raise intelligent questions that they didn't want asked? Lacroix sighed. He knew the chances of getting off this island were minimal. And although he hated these kinds of places, he didn't want to be anywhere else. He was safe, well fed, alone, asiding the skull of course, and he had a lot to interest him. The wildlife were large, dangerous, and primitive. Lacroix realised that this was his new course. He would protect this island. Jesus Chicken
Indrid walked off the stage to enourmous applause, the crowd kept cheering for them to return but he walked away, carrying his guitar. He did these concerts to make the Order money, no ther reason. Not that he didn't enjoy them, but he had given his life to the Order and music was the only thing he knew apart from the Order. The sound of the crowd faded away as he walked down the stairs to his dressing room. The rest of the band were all quite pleased with themselves as they played a great set. They were all part of the order, but Indrid was the highest ranking memeber in the group. his band slowly up and left, for the nearest headquaters.
Mitch
Valadar had lived in Bismarck, North Dakota his whole life. He had had your 'American Dream' sort of childhood. With nothing going wrong, everything going right. Then when he had turned 18, everything started going wrong. His parents were killed right inside his friendly home, as he hid away in a corner. His parents had been long-time members of The Dark Order he later found out. It seemed like the perfect thing to do, he could get his revenge. So he joined The Dark Order. Going his way slowly up the ranks, pushing effort after effort a little higher up the ladder. He had just been promoted to Archon status. Know he was waiting for his next assignment, pushing his time until he could get out of the hellhole that was Bismarck. Biding his time for his deep hearted revenge burning inside. He could wait...oh, yes...
Corey
I had known of another place where I could 'search' for a long time. I had stumbled across it unexpectantly on a trip sponsered by the Dark Order. My body gravitated toward it while I thought. It had been like I was drawn there. I had checked into the Best Western motel before I was perminantly stationed in New York. There I had fallen asleep. While I slept I did an unconsious search (The real name is "Phychic Incursion"). I had spread out my mind untill I touched something. What I had touched was the current Overlords mind. He was stunned, but did not know I did anything. I woke suddenly and without warning. My body flipped off of the side of the bed. I hit the ground hard, and fractured my left arm. I did some research on the hotel, and found that it had been built ontop of the place a Dark Order building had been. The building was burned almost two hundred years ago. Many had died. Their esscance, however, remained. The entire motel had become one big phychic sattelite dish. It rivaled even the Dark Orders searchroom. I checked into the only open room, with my company credit card, and went up. I took a quick shower, washing mostly my hair. I looked about the hotel for eavesdropping devices. One was on the back of the TV. I snapped it in half. The second was hidden inside of a lightbulb. I broke the bulb and dunked the device in water. It fizzled and stopped beeping. The third, and last, was hidden in the Bible, convienently on the page that delt with the Apocalypse. I threw it out the small crack that was the window. With that taken care of, I took a pill of LSD. My sences began to come alive. First it was my smell and taste. I could smell everything and taste the air. Then my eyes, I could see colors that I had not imagined were in the room. Then it was my hearing. The people in the next room were having a 'romp'. Next my sence of touch came alive. I could feel the slightest defect in everything. Lastly, it was my mind. I layed down on the bed, and let my eyes slip closed. I sent out my minds tendrils toward where I had last senced the thing. I could feel it again. It was powerful, but it had moved. It was no longer in Norway. I quickly scanned our complexes for survivors. I found afew and alerted the Contacts near Norway. It had moved. I felt a pang of anger at Tim. If he had let me conduct another at the Mansion, I would have been able to get to it. I shoved those thoughts away and concentrated on the thing. I saw it! It was in Bulgaria. How had it moved so fast? Bulgaria was across the contenant. I shook my head and tried to home-in closer. I looked at me with it's mind. I had been to slow! It saw me before I had a chance to dive into it's mind. With a great mental push I was hurled across the world. I flew through the sky. My mind landed on an island. There was a person here... A person that was in the Order. He was important... But how? Something had made me land here. And it wasn't the thing. I closed my mind and returned to the motel. I sat up and was faced with a throbing headache. I stumbled to my bag and swallowed a valium. They were for emergencies. I ploped back down on the bed and waited for sleep to come. Mitch
Valadar had finally had enough of this stupid waiting. He just had to do something or he was going to go insane. So he decided to go get a few beers at the local pub. He walked in and sat down. Wow, the place was actually busy for once. Bartender: What do ya want? Valadar: Just a beer. As the bartender poured the beer, Valadar turned around to see if there was anyone suspicous around. After a few glances around the pub, he was certain that no one looked suspicous. But his instincts told him something more, that something was suspicous... Bartender: Here ya go. The Bartender said cold-hearted, placing the pint on the table. Valadar picked up the pint and took a tiny sip, then set it down again. Something is wrong here his mind kept screaming. But what Valadar had no idea. He decided he would ask the Bartender. ' Valadar: Hey, Bartender has there been anyone suspicous around this pub lately? Grim faced, the Bartender spoke: Bartender: Yeh, there has been some saspicous lookin' people 'round here lately, but they left over an hour 'go. Valadar's eyes lit up with curiousity. Valadar: Did you happen to get any names, or any other information about them? The Bartender looked suspicously at Valadar. Bartender: Why do you ask? Matter-of-factly Valadar said: Valadar: Just curious I guess. Bartender: Earlier taday these people dressed in black came in and sat down. They seemed to be talkin' about something called the Dark Order or sumthing....I know I'm not makin' sense but that's what they were talkin' 'bout. I didn't get any name though. Valadar: Sure is strange. Do you think they might come back here tommorow? Valadar said, picking up his pint and taking a big gulp. Bartender: Well I think they said that they'd be here for the week. So maybe I danno. Valadar: Thanks for the information. He said, throwing him down an extra tip and quickly finishing his pint. Bartender: No problem. The Bartender said as Valadar got up and left. I'll get to the bottom of this, Valadar thought. I sure will.
Char!
BRRRRING!!! BRRRRING!!! BRRRRING!!! Xeshiur: Uhhh... Wha...? Xeshiur looked aimlessly around. Everything was blurry. He found his head too heavy to hold up, and let it drop again. BRRRRING!!! BRRRRING!!! Xeshiur groaned. Xeshiur: Alright! I'm up. He continued to lie there on the bed, listening to the incessant ringing of the alarm clock. Finally, he rolled around, shut the thing off, and sat up. He looked at the clock again, and picked it up. 10:01 AM. Had he really set it for ten in the morning? He stood up, got dizzy, and sat back down hard. Oh, man, what was I doing last night? Probably drinking... Yes, definitely drinking, Xeshiur realized as he rubbed his sore head. He was wearing the same clothes from yesterday, too. He got up again, slowly, and headed to the bathroom. This was not the way a Visionsary should behove. Everyone in the Dark Order knows that alcohol hinders a Visionary's mental abilities more than others. But still, he seemed to be drinking more and more. It wasn't always like that. He had been a chipper young man when he entered the Dark Order at 17. He made sure to follow all the rules, and never get in any trouble. However, fulfilling these goals became less of a priority over the years. He had been elevated to Visionary status when he was discorvered using great psychic ability with a Contact. There, he became big-headed, and did his jop more sloppily. That was three years ago. Now, he was hardly even a member of the Dark Order. No one seemed to bother with him anymore. He was merely a name now, a name nobody remembered. Xeshiur himself had given up on the Dark Order too, and its practices were kept only as a reminder of what he used to do. Xeshiur sighed. Another day, world. You bastard...

Juu
Relee sat by an old man, laying in a cot. She had stayed up all night, treating him with ointments, and antibacterial creams, for he had been injured badly in battle. Relee's eyes began to droop, as she stirred a newly brewed herb tea. She handed it to the old man, as he recieved it gratefully. Just then, his eyes shot open. He spit out what he had drank, and handed the cup back to Relee. "There's no way I'm going to drink this!! What's in this thing anyway??? I'm already sick, don't tell me you're gonna poison me like that!!" The man complained, bursting into gestures as he did. "I'm sorry sir, but this'll make you feel better! If you don't drink it, then the fever's going to rise even more, if you don't intend to die, then drink it! You have a choise, drink the drink, and live. Or you can choose to be stubborn, not drink, and die." Relee was much angrier than she had ever been before. She didn't spend two nights for another patiant to die, just for not drinking one of her potions. "Can't you sweeten in up a bit?" "A touch of any other plant, will make the potion useless. It has to contain the herb, and the water from our village." Relee explained, putting a hand on her hip. "Fine... Don't blame me, if I get sicker than I am now." The old man remarked, sipping the drink. Relee sighed, and leaned over against the cot. "I'm going to step outside. When I get back, you'd better finished that drink." Relee walked outside, taking a deep breath as she did. It had already been a long night, and she hoped this day wouldn't be longer. She yawned, as a hawk flew over the village. She walked to her own tent, and layed down. She sighed, again, as she put two hands behind her head. She groaned, and got up. Back to work...
Corey
I woke up staring at a blinding white light. My vision was hazy and that did nothing but intensify the efects of the light. I shielded my eyes as a voice perked up to my left. ???- "Your such an idiot. You know that? I can't believe you." I knew that voice. I tried to speak and found my mouth completely dry. Someone held water up to my mouth and I drank, wetting the desert inside. Ryan- "Tim? Is that you?" Tim- "Yeah... It's me. What the hell were you thinking? You conducted a search, took LSD, and then swallowed a Valium? You almost died! If one of the Zealots in surgery would not have let one of our doctors in, you would have been in the morge right now! You went into shock. The motels roomservice found you. They took you into surgery attempting to operate on a blood clot in you brain. It happened when you did the search. Then you took the Valium and fell asleep while it grew. You are so lucky that someone was able to use some magic to remove it. Magic hasn't been very reliable lately..." He trailed off and wiped his eyes with a paper towel. He was crying. I tried to sit up and was pushed back down by him. "You sit down, you dumb****... I am having them keep you here for a week. You will cool it weather you like it or not. No searches here. I am also having the motel exorcised. You won't be able to do anything else there." He got up and walked away. I layed there dumbfounded. Maybe I would get a visitor? That would help pass the time.
Char!
Xeshiur knew how late he was. He was supposed to start his new job at 8:00 AM this morning. How would he explain this to his boss? Uh, sorry I was out on the town dining on great food and kinky women again, so I'll go get to work now and see if can make me some money. Riiiight... He walked outside to see his car parked sloppily on his driveway. The driver's side door was opened. I must've fogotten to close it... 'cause I was so drunk, ha ha. He made his way to his vehicle. There were tire tracks on his overgrown lawn. Maybe he'd have to do something about that. Later... He sat on the driver's seat and looked in the ignition. No keys. Great. Now I'll have to search... everywhere... I'll never find it... Unless... Xeshiur looked up at the morning sky. He could always try it, and when it didn't work, he'd look the hard way. He went back in the house, and opened the door to the basement. He hadn't been down there in years, since he was... It was dark. The light bulb must have gone out. He'd have to fix that, too. He sighed, recalling the number of things he'd have to do today. Fix the light, the lawn, his job, find the keys... Yes... keys first... He made his way down the dark stairway. Each one creaked under his feet. He expected to run into a huge cobweb, become trapped and see a monstrous spider looming over his wriggling body. It didn't happen. At the bottom of the stairs was a shelf. On it were three small obsects: a half used candle, a lighter, and a small black box. He wouldn't be needing those, just his mind. And the symbol he painted on the basement floor years ago. He saw it, stretching the length of the dirty floor. It was circular, with curving lines eminating from the center. Four spikes ran from the center to the outside of the design, and even ran up the walls about four feet. A smaller circle also sat in the middle, and covering it was a small reddish-brown cushion. He sighed again, and carefully tiptoed across the floor, and knelt on the soft, worn cushion. This is stupid, Xeshiur thought. Wasting my time on this crap, just for some keys. I have half a mind to just hot-wire the damned thing. But he knew this way is faster and easier... If he hadn't lost his abilities...
Mitch
OOC: Woh, I totally forgot about this. Lets get it rolling again, eh? Valadar had returned home to his reclusive little hell shack and began watching Jeopardy. He didn't even pay attention. The only things upon his mind were figuring out who those people the bartender had spoke of were, and getting out of this damn hellhole. As he sat there sipping his soda and watching Jeopardy, a soft knock echoed from his door. He hesitantly got up, made sure he had his Broad Sword handy, and went to the door. He looked out through the peep hole, he saw two blurry figures standing there, they looked like trouble if Valadar had ever seen trouble. He unsheathed his sword, and slowly eased open the door, standing behind it. The two men charged in. They were wearing black ninja suits and had katanas. Sure is trouble, Valadar thought. As the men looked about surprised, Valadar jumped the closest one and slit off his head in one quickly tuned blow. As the ninja's head fell to the floor, the other turned around, eyeing Valadar. Valadar: If you don' wanna die, ya better tell me who sent you, or else. Ninja: Ok, ok....just don't kill me. Brunos sent me. After he had weemed out those two words, Valadar speedily cut his head off to. Valadar: No rest for the weak. he said, laughing.
Char!
A light so intense filled Xeshiur's mind, and he wished closing his eyes would help. He realized he couldn't possibly be blinded by it, but it was still so very bright... Random images began flashing inside his head. A newspaper on a kitchen table, open to the Sports page. Hmm... the Bears are at 2-1... He saw the Sears Tower, and knew instantly how many people were in it, and how many out of those people had been there all night. He saw a child run into the street after a lost ball, completely ignoring that there may be a speeding car coming his way. Fortunately for him, there wasn't. The 78.543 pound child would have been totally obliterated by any vehicle. He saw from a million angles at once a red Volkswagen superbug. He knew that it had just been filled up, that it had a bad muffler, and that the driver was a bitter middle-aged woman who had lost three sons to the same type of sickness. He watched it drive past his house, past his lawn, past his poor excuse of a parked car. He saw all these things plus so much more, all under 5 seconds. Ah, the powers of a Visionary... Xeshiur then remembered what it was he wanted to do, and focused his mind on his car keys. He thought about their shape, about the blue rubber #1! keychain it was attached to, about how many times he had used that key, about how many times he had almost locked himself out of his car on a cold wintery evening. And suddenly, he knew where they were. All the images that had been flashing in his mind were now replaced by a single vision. The secret location of what he had been searching for was... ...was... Xeshiur: Doh!!! Xeshiur opened his eyes, and the connection was lost instantaneously. That is the worst thing an experienced Visionary can do. You must slowly bring yourself out of a psychic trance, or you maay risk injury. Xeshiur lay hard on his back, moaning in agony at the sudden emptiness of his mind. He lay there for some time, screaming and writhing... After a while he sat slowly up, looked himself over, stood up, went up the stairs, closed the basement door, drank some water, reached into his pocket, grabbed the idiotic little blue #1! keychain, got in his car, and went to work... What a moron, Xeshiur thought lazily... --Mike
