Worlds Collide
SYNOPSIS: The digidestined in Japan are alerted when something disturbs the Digital World. Along with Willis they meet up with a strange creature that is not all he seems...

I hope you enjoy reading it. I'd really appreciate any feedback you might have, positive or negative. Thanks!

Chapter 1: A New Battle
Deep in the core of the Digital World, something was stirring. In a dark underground cave, a sinister creature was emerging. A burst of light illuminated the cave, casting the monster?s hideous shadow on the walls. From the trans-dimensional tear, the dark digimon heard its master?s voice.
?We?re there?? the master hissed triumphantly. The monster growled and raked the ground with its long claws. It was a massive dragon digimon, its scales black as pitch. Its huge, muscular body covered in sharp spines writhed around the cave floor, struggling to familiarise itself with the new dimension. Its head bobbed slowly up and down as it breathed harshly. Its teeth were shining white, and poised for killing. It drooled hungrily and prowled around the cavern, searching for a victim to devour. The master smiled evilly. After all his hard work, his plan was finally working. The digital dragon didn?t seem to care. It glimpsed a small Gotsumon cowering in the corner and lunged at it. Terrified, it sprinted off into the catacombs. Still restless, the dragon scoured the rest of the cave. The master watched with a stern eye.
?I can erase you just as easily as I created you, so listen to my commands.? He warned. ?Destroy the digidestined, Darkmon. And do not fail me, understand?? he shouted angrily, his voice ripping into the dragon digimon?s ears. It growled obediently and nodded. The master smiled to himself as he sealed the tear, leaving his monstrous creation alone. The digimon?s eyes shone a deep red as it looked up at the roof of the cave. With a deafening roar, it leapt up at the ceiling and began digging its way up to the surface?

Willis woke up with a start. His alarm clock was screeching at him loudly. Groaning, he slammed his hand down on it. Tiny bits of plastic burst from it and landed on the floor. He looked drowsily around his untidy room and yawned. He glanced over at the fractured clock next to his bed. The red numbers flashed 7:36. He hauled himself out of bed, grabbed his clothes and went downstairs. Outside the window, a panorama of the New York City skyline stretched out beyond the window. Somewhere out there was his school. Terriermon and Lopmon were watching the news from the sofa. They waved at him in greeting and he yawned back at them.
?Awake yet, Willis?? chirped Terriermon. Willis groaned and sat heavily down next to him. The newsreader looked sombre.
??strange anomalies in computer systems all over the world??
?Do you two actually get what she?s saying?? Willis asked, looking at the twins suspiciously.
?No,? Lopmon replied cheerfully.
Willis shrugged and wandered over to the computer sitting in the corner of the next room. His digivice was lying next to it, beeping quietly. He picked it up and held it to his ear, curious. It had been a while since it had last been activated; when Terriermon digivolved. He thought about the other digidestined who had helped him rid Lopmon of the virus. He didn?t know anyone nearby who had a Digimon. His internet friend Izzy knew lots of digidestined.
?I wonder if he?s sent me an e-mail.? He thought out loud. Lazily, he jabbed the power switch on the computer. Suddenly, his digivice began screeching loudly and started glowing a dark red. The computer screen flashed red three times and lit up in a brilliant white.
?Willis!? the twins chorused. They jumped from the sofa and ran into the computer room. The screen was glowing so brightly that they had to shield their eyes from it. Willis looked at his digimon quizzically. They looked at each other and shrugged.
?Willis, what?s going on?? Lopmon asked, fearfully looking around. Slowly, the screeching died down as the computer?s glow faded. Willis shook his head.
?I?ve no idea, but I bet it isn?t good.? Unknown to Willis, it was a digi-port. He studied the screen carefully. In the centre of the screen, the image of a forest was appearing. Confused, he moved closer.
?What is it, Willis?? Lopmon asked nervously, watching the monitor as if something would jump out at them. Willis shook his head.
?I don?t know, Lopmon. It looks like the Digital World.?
Terriermon scratched his head. ?That noise hurt my ears.?, he mumbled.
Willis picked up his digivice. He looked at his digimon, unsure of what to do. They both nodded. He looked at his digivice again and held it to the screen. Light flooded the whole room. Willis tried to look back at Terriermon and Lopmon, but all of a sudden he felt the weight of his body disappear. A tingling feeling swept over him and enveloped his senses. He was being spun around, broken up? The room was stretching away from him.
?What?s happening?? his voice sounded weird and distorted. Shapeless objects flew past him, and in front of him was a forest. It was getting a lot closer very quickly. He closed his eyes and hoped for a soft landing?

Cody?s D-3 bleeped loudly. He rolled over in bed and drowsily flicked on a light. It stopped bleeping. ?Why did it do that?? he thought. ?Is Upamon in trouble?? he glanced at the floor where Upamon was lying, but there was no one there. Cody jumped out of bed and ran out of the room. He started at some rattling noises coming from the kitchen. Cautiously, he pushed the door? and saw the fridge wide open, with Armadillomon casually sifting through its contents. A large pile of food lay next to him, and it was getting larger by the second.
Cody gasped. ?Armadillomon! You?ve digivolved!? Armadillomon started, knocking a jar of sauce to the floor. It rolled slowly past Cody, who glared at him irritatedly. Armadillomon grinned sheepishly.
?You can?t just raid the fridge like that. My mom still doesn?t know about you yet, and she?ll go mad if she sees that so much food is missing.?
?But I gotta eat. I?ll starve if I don?t.? he protested. Cody pointed at the mass of food lying on the floor.
?You don?t have to eat that much.?
?Can?t I just take a little something?? he asked pleadingly as he reluctantly started to shove the pile back into the fridge. Cody sighed, picked up a riceball and watched him crawl back to the bedroom. He placed the riceball in front of the eager digimon.
?How?d you wake up, anyway? I was being real quiet.?
Cody sat on the side of his bed and picked up the digivice. ?My D-3 was bleeping. I saw that you were gone, and I thought you were in trouble.?
Armadillomon bit a chunk out of the riceball.
?But I wasn?t. So why?d it bleep?? he spluttered inbetween mouthfuls. Cody yawned and shrugged.
?I don?t know. It may be to do with you digivolving from Upamon. I?ll have to sleep on it.? Cody said quietly, rubbing his eyes. Armadillomon finished his food and nodded approvingly.
?Good idea. I could use a nap right now, too.?

The early morning sun crept in through a gap in the curtains, illuminating Cody?s face. Drowsily, he stretched, yawned and pulled himself out of bed. He glanced at Armadillomon, who was lying peacefully on the floor, gently snoring. Cody nudged him awake.
?Is it morning?? Armadillomon yawned. Cody nodded and went into the kitchen to get some breakfast. His mother was waiting for him.
?Did you sleep okay, honey? I heard some noise out here last night.?
He nodded. ? I had to go to the bathroom. Sorry if I disturbed you.?
?That?s alright. I?m going out today, so I?ll have to leave you here with Grandpa.?, his mum said while placing his breakfast on the table.
?But? I?m meeting some friends.?
She turned round, holding the steaming pot of food in her hands. ?Oh. Well, make sure you?re back by five. And be careful.? Cody looked over to Armadillomon, who was idly playing with Cody?s pillow.
?I?ll be fine.?

It was a bright day in Tokyo. In the park, the sunlight danced over the leaves of the trees, and a gentle breeze sent ripples though the grass. The pond glittered and sparkled in the light as if it were on fire. In the distance, the low rumble of cars was the only noise that disturbed the tranquillity. Cody was carrying Armadillomon on his back like a large stuffed animal. It was hard work. Gently, he set him down on the grass.
?Are you sure you only had a riceball to eat last night? It?s hard work carrying you.? Armadillomon looked offended.
?Sorry, Armadillomon. I?m just worried. I still can?t understand why you digivolved last night.?
?Don?t worry too much, Cody. If anything is wrong in the Digital World, we?ll be able to sort it out.?, he said confidently. Cody nodded and looked over to a copse in the middle of the park. Sitting in the shade were Ken, Izzy, Tai and Kari. Gatomon was curled up next to her, her tail twitching in the breeze. Matt was running to join them from the other side of the park. The digivice on his belt glinted in the light.
?Hey, Cody!? a voice called. He turned around and saw T.K and Yolei waving at him from the other side of the road. Patamon was sitting on T.K?s head, basking in the sunlight. When they reached Cody, they made their way towards the copse together. They sat in the shade and greeted the others. Kari moved over to sit next to T.K and smiled at him. He smiled back.
?Hi Kari. Was your digivice behaving strangely too??
?Yeah, it?s weird. I don?t know what caused it, either. Gatomon was right there with me.?, she replied, stroking Gatomon behind her ears.
Cody looked at Izzy. ?Maybe it was caused by problems in the Digi-World.?, he suggested. Izzy thought for a bit.
?Hmm. It?s possible. Whatever it was, all our digivices were affected.?
?You don?t think it could be another Digimon Emperor, do you?? Ken asked.
?It?s possible.? Izzy replied. Ken bit his lip, looking guilty.
?But it could have been an imbalance in the Digital World itself, couldn?t it Izzy?? Yolei said quickly. Izzy nodded.
?A disturbance that large could only have been caused by something immensely powerful. If something like that has appeared in the Digital World, human or digimon, it could mean big trouble.? The others looked at each other grimly. ?I think we should go right away to check it out.? Izzy concluded. Tai nodded.
?The school?s closed today. We can use our home computer as a digi-port.?, he suggested.
?Then let?s go.? Matt stood up and looked at everyone else. ?Who knows what?s in the Digital World right now. We?d better find out and get rid of it before it?s too late.?

Willis felt sick. Warm dust covered his face. He felt the ground underneath his face and groaned. What had happened? Had he fallen asleep outside again? Forcing his eyes open, he looked around. He was in a clearing surrounded by exotic trees and palms. Definitely not my back yard, he thought. The computer? He looked behind him, expecting to see his study, but saw another wall of trees. Hauling himself to his knees, he felt his digivice in his pocket. Terriermon and Lopmon! Did they make it? He jumped to his feet and searched the clearing. There was no sign of them. Becoming panicked, he searched the undergrowth. What if they got lost on the way? He might never see them again.
?Terriermon! Lopmon!? he yelled frantically. Behind him, he heard a rustling. He whirled round and ran towards the bushes.
?Terriermon? Is that you?? As he crept forward, the rustling stopped.
?Lopmon?? he called quietly. Suddenly, a silver blade shot forwards, narrowly missing plunging straight into his chest. Willis yelped in fright and fell back onto the dusty ground. The blade lowered down to his throat. In the bushes, he could make out the shape of a large winged creature. Slowly, he edged away from the sword. The creature kept the blade within a few inches of his neck and stepped out of the undergrowth. There, Willis saw the full horror of his attacker.
The digimon was like one he?d never seen before. It stood much taller than himself and a wolf?s head snarled down at him fiercely. Large, red dragon-like wings were spread from its back, quivering menacingly. It stood tall on muscular hind legs wearing torn black shorts. It?s arms were blue, muscular and furry, with leather belts wrapped tightly around them. On its left wrist was a steel crossbow bearing a white sun symbol. Finger-less gloves covered blue-furred hands with gleaming white claws. A bright red bandanna hung loosely around its neck. Willis stared fearfully into its deep blue eyes. It had a vicious glare. As Willis backed away slightly, he grabbed a stick from the ground underneath him. The digimon cocked its head slightly, as if studying him. Slowly, the snarl on its face changed into a look of confusion, and then the faint traces of a smile appeared. Willis tightened his grip on the stick. The digimon?s smile grew.
?Is that you?? it said in a deep voice. Willis shuffled back slightly.
?A-am I who?? he stammered.
Suddenly, the digimon leapt forwards at him, laughing madly. Willis kicked up his feet in defence and pushed the digimon back. Jumping to his feet, he brandished the stick defiantly. ?You?ll never eat me!? He slashed the stick around in an attempt to ward it off. The digimon stepped back.
?Calm down, Willis! It?s okay. It?s me! Aidan!? its tone was light and eager.
?Who??
?Aidan! Your friend Aidan. Don?t you remember??
?Aidan!? What are you talking about? Aidan?s dead. And how do you know about my friend?? he scowled, his fist tightening around the stick.
The digimon advanced forwards, his arms open. ?I?m not dead, Willis. It?s really me!?
Willis brandished his stick towards his chest. ?Keep away from me, you monster!? The creature?s ears drooped.
?Please, Willis. You must believe me. I am Aidan.? His eyes were searching, pleading for recognition. Willis stared back into those deep blue eyes. How could this mongrel of animal parts, be a friend to him? He had never seen this thing before, let alone talked to it. Surely it had to be tricking him. Aidan was a human? but he was dead now. A stab of loss shot through Willis. This wolf-creature wasn?t his friend? but those eyes... those eyes pierced through to his very soul and asked him to believe. Willis studied the furry features, the huge stature, the crossbow. If this was Aidan he had been changed beyond belief. Willis looked back up into his eyes. The wolf was looking at him intently, hoping for any sign of recognition. There was a certain familiarity to those eyes. Willis felt his aggression die and a sort of confused hope woke inside. Could it be true? At any rate, it seemed that this being didn?t wish to harm him.
?Are you joking? Aidan was human.?
The digimon gulped anxiously. ?I was, Willis. Look? er?? he looked around nervously. ?I can prove it? you live in Colorado, and-?
?I moved to New York last year.?
?But I didn?t know that! I went missing a year and a half ago!?, the digimon protested. Willis held his hands up to calm him down.
?Don?t worry. Go on.?
?Er? you have two digimon called Terriermon and Lopmon. They?re twin digimon. You?ve had them for almost your entire life. Four years ago, Lopmon contracted a computer virus from a digimon called Diaboromon which you had created. For years you could only watch as he destroyed everything you held close to you. Then you met me. I helped as best I could, but before we could work out a cure together, I? disappeared.?
Willis didn?t know what to think any more. ?That?s all true. I did have a friend called Aidan, but?? Doubt entered his mind. He felt the hurt and loss building up inside him again. ??how do I know you didn?t take him away, extract his secrets and then eat him??
?I don?t eat humans.? Aidan sighed. ?I know you?ve got almost nothing to go on, and I?m not human any more? but more than anything I need you to trust and believe me. It?s been a long time since I?ve met any people, let alone one of my friends.?
Willis sighed. His anger faded away as he watched Aidan place his sword back in its scabbard. Cautiously, he put the stick down on the floor and held out his hand to Aidan. Aidan looked at it, then back at Willis. His eyes filled with nervous excitement as he reached out and shook his hand.
Willis smiled at Aidan. ?It?s? good to see you again.?

?Well, we?re here.? Tai said as they were downloaded into the Digi-World.
?I?m glad it?s still here for us to enter. We?re not too late.? Yolei said with relief.
?I hope.? Cody whispered.
They were in a large clearing surrounded by trees. A narrow pathway led away from the digi-port and threaded its way into the forest. Matt looked around for any signs of trouble.
?It seems quite calm right now. Maybe it was just a-?
Something rustled in the bushes next to him. He jumped and stepped away quickly. The bushes began moving more vigorously. Everyone took a step back and the digimon geared themselves for a fight. Matt squinted to try and see what it was. Suddenly, the bushes parted and something leapt onto him, knocking onto the floor. It was Gabumon.
?Hi Matt! It?s been a while since you last came to the Digital World!?
?Gabumon! You sure scared us!? Matt said, lifting Gabumon onto the floor.
?Something scared us last night, too. It was as if the whole Digital World was about to explode.? Gabumon said, waving his arms about. ?I?m glad you?re here, Matt. I feel a lot safer now.? Matt smiled.
?Don?t mention it, Gabumon. Say, are the other digimon around??
?Yup!? He gave a whistle and Agumon and Tentomon leapt out of the undergrowth onto Tai and Izzy. They were followed by two other digimon.
?Who are they?? Tai asked. The two digimon smiled.
?He?s Lopmon.? Terriermon squeaked happily.
?And he?s Terriermon.? Lopmon said brightly.
?You?re Willis? digimon, aren?t you?? Izzy asked. They nodded. ?Is he here??
The twins shook their heads and looked disappointed. ?We lost him when we entered the Digi-World.? Terriermon explained. ?Can you help us find him??
Kari smiled at them. ?Don?t worry, you two.?
?We?ll have you back with Willis in no time!? Yolei said confidently. They were about to start searching when they noticed the sky was beginning to cloud over.
?That doesn?t look good.? Ken held Wormmon tightly. Black clouds were forming a dark ring in the sky above the forest. Slowly, the edges of the ring began to spread inwards.
?Maybe it?s just a localised shower?? Agumon mumbled. The digivices started to flash red. Aidan and Willis strode down the path through the forest, searching for Terriermon and Lopmon. The undergrowth was so thick it was hard to see anything. A growing feeling of dread was creeping into Willis.
?Why don?t we try calling for them?? Willis asked.
?Something doesn?t feel right. I sense something dangerous nearby and I don?t think it would be a good idea for us to draw attention to ourselves.? Aidan kept a hand on the hilt of his sword, ready for potential ambushes. Willis ran his fingers through his hair.
?But we?ve got to find them soon. What if the thing?s already taken them??
?You?d know if it had. Everyone has a connection to their digimon which?? his voice trailed off. Willis saw his hand clench around the hilt and began to wonder what had happened to Aidan.
?Aidan, what ha-?
?Shh!? Aidan silenced him. His ears moved- he was searching for a sound.
?What is it?? Willis asked hopefully.
?I hear people talking.?, he said, listening intently. Willis couldn?t wait any longer - he had to find his digimon. He sprinted off down the track, hope driving him onwards.
?Terriermon! Lopmon!? he shouted.
Aidan ran after him, drawing his sword. ?Willis, wait!?
But Willis wouldn?t wait. His digimon were out somewhere in the forest and he was going to find them. As he hurtled down the path, he could hear the voices too? and Terriermon was one of them. He came to a clearing and skidded to a halt. In amongst the other digidestined were Terriermon and Lopmon, safe and sound. He ran up to the twins and hugged them.
?Don?t do that again, you guys. I thought I?d lost both of you.? They hugged him tightly.
?Sorry Willis. We were just about to come looking for you.? Terriermon said apologetically.
?Where were you?? Lopmon asked, holding onto his jacket. Suddenly, he heard everyone gasp. At the entrance to the clearing, Aidan had appeared, breathing heavily and brandishing his sword.
Matt stepped forwards.
?Stay back!?, he shouted. Willis jumped to his feet.
?No, it?s okay! He?s my friend.?
They looked unconvinced. Aidan turned to Willis pleadingly. Kari smiled. ?It?s nice to meet you.?, she said pleasantly. Aidan felt touched. He hadn?t seen any real people in eighteen months and suddenly this group of friends were accepting him. One of his greatest fears was having to travel back to the real world and facing up to what had happened. But they still didn?t know the truth? Apprehensively, he sheathed his sword and bowed to everyone.
?Thank you. My name?s Aidan.?, he said politely.
Tai scratched his head. ?That?s an odd name for a digimon. Shouldn?t it be ?something-mon???
Aidan gulped and smiled nervously. ?It?s a long story.?
Cody looked at the sky. The clouds had completely closed over, and now the centre of the massive circle began to glow dark red. ?Look at that!? he shouted.
A red bolt of lightning crashed down from the sky and thundered into the ground ahead of them, throwing rubble all around them. Small stones whistled through the air as the digidestined dived for cover in the undergrowth. Everything fell silent. Willis, Terriermon and Lopmon had taken cover under some thick ferns. Willis cautiously opened his eyes and scanned the clearing. Smoking debris covered the ground, and some of the branches had been ripped from the trees. Slowly, he stood up and looked for everyone else. One by one they carefully emerged from the bushes and looked over in the direction of the lightning strike. A plume of smoke loomed ominously over the black crater it had created. Armadillomon twitched.
?What is it, Armadillomon?? Cody asked apprehensively.
?Can?t you feel it, Cody? There?s something evil down there.? He pointed a shaky claw to the crater. They all crept forward to look over the edge. A pitch black pit lay in front of them, with a deep well in the centre.
?What do you suppose that was?? T.K asked worriedly, reaching for his digivice. Aidan drew his sword and growled at the hole.
?I don?t know, but something?s coming.? The ground trembled slightly. Everyone looked at each other and backed away from the crater?s edge. Trees began to shake, the creatures living in them scattering in terror.
?I think we?re about to find out what caused that massive disturbance!? Izzy cried, holding onto a tree to steady himself. The trembling grew greater. Huge cracks seared through the ground, swallowing up trees. Above the rumbling, Aidan heard another sound; a terrifying sound that tore into his soul. A screeching roar burst out of the tunnel as a massive black dragon exploded from the black tunnel. It rose high into the air, spitting crimson flames from its mouth. The digidestined watched in fear as the horrible creature flew above them. A rippling mass of black scales, its red eyes glared fiercely at the digidestined. Two twisted blood-red horns spiralled out of its head, glinting in the red lightning. Its claws, like sharpened scythes, were ready to attack at any moment.
Tai gazed up at the dragon in horror. ?We?re in trouble??

Glad you liked it! This'll probably be all I'm posting storywise for a while because the other chapters, although written, needed a complete overhaul bacause they didn't follow and were just not written well enough, as far as I'm concerned. So, they may or may not be here in a few months. We'll have to wait and see...

Whoa! This is an old digi-story. I did write the rest, but was in the middle of re-vamping it when I came up with the idea for Dark Conflict. I still have all of this one, I think, and you're welcome to read it if you want (I probably won't put it up here, but you can e-mail me if you like- it's about 54 pages long, though), but DC's the one I'm really working on. You're welcome to read whichever you like. But thanks for the feedback! ^_^
