Masta Playa
It's not necessarily that hard to make a good banner in MSPaint. If you're looking not to spend any money(or downloading time) you can combine it with programs like IrfanView to make o.k. banners. The potential is out there! Kinetic
Even with MS Paint alone, it's not that hard to make banners. I've made a nice website layout based on images with nothing but MS Paint. All you have to do is try, and have common sense.
PiroMunkie
I don't really think there's a point in trying to make a good banner with Paint. It is so much more fun to exploit the cheapness of the program, lol. Plus if you have a high speed connection it only takes about 10 or so minutes to download PhotoShop. :p
liamc2
The thing is though, most of us don't have high speed connections lol. At the moment MS pain is all I have, and various other programs that have small features that enable the exploitation of many images: Word *don't laugh, I'm serious* Printmaster 8.0 *occaisionally use this one* Irfan view *don't know why, pretty useless* WWWGifani *for the obvious* And finally MS paint which is really more usefull than its given credit (In case you are wondering, yes the banner in my signature is a genuine MS Paint only product)

amiboshi
The Photoshop trial? I was going to try that, but then I read that the "save" capability is disabled in it. Then I didn't even bother. I mean.....what's the point if you can't even save? I used paint all the time before I got Photoshop a few months ago. It actually is quite useful. It's good to paste images into and to be able to keep the canvas a certain size while you drag your pasted pic around and stuff.......good for avatars. I had to get a resizing program, but paint was fine for other stuff. And I still use it to put lines in......since I still can't figure out how to in Photoshop without those little arrows.......^^;;;

I downloaded PhotoShop at my dad's house, saved it to a disc, and brought it back over here. :whoops:

When you see a menu change, just snoop around in there until you see something that talks about "arrowheads".

I know you said NOT to laugh, but it's sooooo funny! AHAHAHA!!!!!! I just burst out laughing when I saw that, before I even got to the no laughing part. I dont have the other programs you mentioned, so I have no idea what the heck they are. I do, however, think AOL's paint thingy is ok. It's good for inverting colors, removing color, and fading/darkening pictures. That's about it. All you have to do is click and drag an image to the edge of the screen on an AOL window. Of course, not all of us have AOL. Currently, I ahv the sig feature disabled so I cannot see the banner in your sig. I might enable it, for a sec, just for you. hold on........ Oh. I see the banner. It's pretty good for MS Paint. Now, if only I knew where to get the font.... The banner in my sig was made in MS Paint. Putting in the words PIXEL BY DARN PIXEL. I'm currently working on anotehr one, but I'm L-A-Z-Y, so it's NEVER getting finished.

Semjaza
Instead of relying on trials and illegal downloads... Just get Gimp. It's almost as good as Photoshop and is open source. The whole thing is free. I believe Tucows has it. And if you want to spend the time MSPaint isn't bad. I know a kid who pulls some amazing stuff off in that program and he is only 14. Sure it's all line based with no weird filters, but he does an excellent job. I used to sit and draw things in MSPaint with only the paintbrush tool. I like it because it's so limiting, you can't rely on filters to save your ***. I attached the only MSPaint pic I did that I can find. Some people might recognize it from a book.
