vegeta rocker
Is there any anime series/movie/manga etc. that you think kind of overplays sappy scenes? I mean like old memories and romantic thoughts? Think Batman, how many movies did it take to come to term to his parents death and get over it, kind of like that. I would go with Blood Reign, the whole running in a field with cherry blossoms was nice- for the first 4 times.:D Doesn't have to be sappy scenes, overdone violence can be an issue. (why do i think ill be getting no posts on the violence one):flaming:
amibasuki
Fushigi Yuugi definitely has some moments that are too mushy. and the Kenshin OVA was good, except that I think they overemphasized the splattering of the blood a bit much. if Ninja Resurrection is anything like what I've heard about it, then that would probably be really gory as well 0_o'. ifm2181
The old Sailor Moon episodes recount on the same scene in the future many times, especially Tuxedo Mask >.<
amiboshi
I didn't think the future-scene was overdone in Sailormoon......I thought they showed it just enough times, but I guess that's just me.:D I think the drama is a little too much in Ayashi no Ceres. I mean, the depression of all the characters is a little annoying after a while. And Tooya......it's almost like he's whining after a while. He just HAS to get his stinking memory back......why can't he just go with Aya already?!? And as much as I love Escaflowne, and it pains me to say something bad about it, Hitomi did get a little bit annoying, being as fickle and undecisive as she was. She couldn't decide which guy she liked, but she was always cooing "Allen......" or "Van.....". That really got on my nerves after a while...... I must mention DBZ here as well. Maybe it's just because I'm sick of DBZ, but my brother was watching the Cooler's Revenge movie the other day, and I want to know why it always takes so freaking long for Goku to go SSJ. I mean, the movie took place after the Frieza saga, so he had already done it. Why did it take so long? I actually starting screaming at him to change already. It's like that in all the movies. It takes sooooo long before he actually gets serious.....the "suspense" just KILLS me......*sarcasm*
ifm2181
They waste a lot of time in DBZ, I find.
vegeta rocker
DBZ? You mean that show thats takes a week to kill a bad guy? What ever made you think they ever over did anything? :)
Def_Kun
Not that I didn't like the series or anything but Fushigi Yugi did have its moments. Miaka and Tamahome were mushy and half naked throughout the series that I was begging them to do it and get it over with. On a more general thought, the "harem" types of anime like Tenchi and Love Hina seemed to be overused.

Rain
I really hope you are being sarcastic, Vegeta rocker. The frieza saga in DBZ was, IMO, the most boring one. I mean 5 minutes takes ten episodes or something. Sometimes that show reminds me of a soap opera what with the time it takes to get through something. Queen Asuka
Tamahome and Miaka were not half naked throughout most of the series....Leave them alone! I like their mushyness...because I love that show...and I love Tamahome... ANYWHO! Well, let me see here...I think that everything in DBZ is overdone. I think that the show even being CREATED was over-doing it. It was a good idea, but it was just too drawn out. Oh well...kids will never learn and will be corrupted by stupid mainstream anime forever, I suppose...
Def_Kun
I was exaggerating it. Of course they were not half naked throughout the season but there were instances that I just wanted them to get it over with.

Anime just actually has a plot, and isn't redundant (well, most :p)
Mist
Speaking of redundance, hasn't anybody noticed that most mainstream animes are based along the same line? Kids, with animals who have special powers, (Or have special powers themselves...) are trying to save their world or accomplish life long goals. That, or DBZ, which is a whole other genre itself. When I speak of DBZ, you can tell I look at it with the upmost loathing. When a friend and I were speaking about anime, he said, "DBZ is the greatest!", and when I countered that I hated it, he said that I didn't like it just because I didn't understand it. Well, I blew up at him. How could one not understand dying character that keep coming back for five minute, six shows long fights, that hardly contain any sense at all? How could one not understand ultra powerful people who are always right, and are never learning anything out of the lines of fighting techniques, etc.? My question is: How can anyone like a show like DBZ?
Juu
*raises hand, while sinking in chair* Um... eh heh... well... the japanese subs are quite amusing... And the lil boys' voices are kawaii!! ^-^ *dodges tomatoes and runs* dbz's okay... but Fatal Fury, King of Fighters and CB are my favs.. ^^
Kinetic
I agree, Mist, and my friends still think it rocks (except for one, and he seems the most shallow, and he actually knows of anime besides DBZ), and they still believe in DBAF, too, I want to mutilate them. . .They are too idiotic to understand that it's redundant, and when I tell them that, they never have a defense, lol. My friend Griff even says that he knows it has no plot now, and he's a hardcore fan, lol. E D I T: I was beginning to believe that my favorite anime, Scryed, was turning too much like DBZ, but then I realized how different it was, and that just because it has alot of fights, they all have a purpose, unlike the fights in DBZ. Queen Asuka
Mist, I laughed the whole time I was reading your post because you sound JUST LIKE ME! There is a whole thread where I just rant and rant about how much I hate DBZ and all the reasons around him somewhere and it is pages long. I totally agree with you. DBZ is so pointless and redundant and has no real plot and the animation is crap and the backgrounds are recycled with NO detail! I hate that show! And you should, too!

Mitch
DBZ is alright, if you like mindless nothingness spewing out forth across your mind in a redundant spray of mossy coat. I don't hate DBZ, only since it's what got me into Anime, so I still watch it. But I've gone on to better things, whith much more greater plots than DBZ could ever have. You see, I prefer something that makes you think rather than something that makes you watch. I like to guess where a show will go, which way the tides will turn, guess who commited what murder. DBZ just seems so mindless to me now, so predictable, so easily understood, that I just can't really feel anything when I watch it. It just seems stupid, if I were to say it bluntly. Tigervx
They seem to scream alot in DBZ. Its like "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" *three minutes later* "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH* Have you ever noticed that? And in the Freize Saga, i also saw they used the same pictures over and over again, but SOMETIMES dif backgrounds. And i still dont get why they turn blond when they go SS. Queen Asuka
Honestly, I don't think they ever use different backgrounds. I think it's the same recycled stuff over and over again. And every single planet looks EXACTLY the same. Same trees, same rocks, same background. That reminds me...there is this little funny video called DBZ in a Nutshell and it's so funny, but it's so true. I wish everyone could see that and laugh as hard as I did.

Gah...you're right, ever planet does look the same! I cannot stand the characters! Goku is royally annoying in my opinion, along with all the rest of the characters. I hate the show, I hate the show, I hate the show...(And you're darn right I'm dogmatic about this!)
Utena_Tenjou
DBZ, could they make a fight any longer? They just stand there and insult the current villain for 30 episodes then finally beat him on the 50th. It just needs to end. And Utena, out of all the 39 episodes, she had to duel in EVERY episode and many in the later episodes where just pointless. Even thouhg the Juri duels kicked ***. ~*!Rei Hino!*~
I agree DBZ is a waste of all the same stuff. It annoys me to no end...blech! And I don't think FY got too mushy. If it did I loved every moment of it. Besides DBZ I would say, Pokemon keeps going on and on and on!!!
