Fire Emblem in North America?

I've heard that Nintendo will be releasing a Fire Emblem game for GBA sometime. (For those of you not in the know, Fire Emblem is an RPG in Japan only, which Marth and Roy from SSBM are from) Has anyone heard any news or rumours about this?

I had heard that Nintendo had plans to release that GBA Fire Emblem that was in the works (I forget if it was released yet, but I think it was) in the US. SSBM would have been a good way to get people familiar with two of the characters at the least.

However, since then I've heard they are still just thinking about it. If they don't bring it over, I hope some other company does. The upcoming Cubivore is the only Nintendo game I can think of that was ever made by Nintendo and published by another company (aka Animal Leader). So I guess there is a chance. I would think they would at least try, given the success of Advance Wars... which it is quite similiar to.

Seems like Doshin the Giant is up in the air again as well, despite so many publications (as well as Giles Goddard who programmed the game) saying it would be coming to the US. Seems like it will at least hit Europe. I'm glad someone invented Freeloader :).

I'm really interested in Fire Emblem, since it's called a "Fantasy-based Advance Wars" by those who've played it.

I believe that Doshin will be released in Europe the same day (or at least the same week) as Animal Crossing in America. I haven't heard anything about either of those games being released on the other territory(sp?).

By the way, has anyone received Freeloader yet? I pre-ordered it last month, and I still haven't got it.

Fantasy-based Advance Wars? I thought the Fire Emblem games were more like RPGs than strategy games... But yeah, I've heard that Nintendo is going to release the latest one on GBA in the US, but it's still not definite.

You move around a grid, just like in Advance Wars. The battles are also quite similiar. The actual story sequences and such are more RPG-like though.

And Freeloader is still on prerelease at NCSX... So I guess you got a bit still. I thought it was coming out in mid-August.

Animal Crossing is coming to Europe, but it has a really late release date... Something like late 2003. I assume because they need to translate into so many languages and adjust the holidays.

 • 1 month later...
I think it's true, because if you look at the Roy trophies. one of them says "FUTURE RELEASE" where it said what game it appeared in. So I'm pretty sure that there will be a Fire Emblem coming out for the GCN in the rest of the world apart from Japan.
