Alright heres the deal: I have been in Drama for 3 years and am in my fourth. We were in the process of electing officers and i didnt get picked for any position. The only reason this bothers me is because people who have been in it for a short while got nominated. I thought for sure a certain person would get president and i would get vice but someone else got president so the person i thought would get it got vice. I didnt want to say anything while i was there, but it hurt. ALOT. I have built sets, acted, been techie, even co directed. And this is my senior year and i wont direct a play or hold an office. i have given up every spring break and countless hours of my time. I even skipped lunch last year for half a semester to paint set during lunch. I've lost an old group of friends in the process and i even missed seeing my grandmother a last time because of it. I just feel under appreciated. And this year drama has morphed in to a club for a bunch of kids who just want to play around. I can feel the workload already. I dont want to quit because ive given up so much but...
do you think im overreacting?

You're not overreacting at all. After your graduate try finding a school with people that are more serious than the ones around you right now. That's my suggestion. My sister was into a lot of theatre arts in her high school years but she got out of it once she graduated. Good luck to you though:D

It's highschool. Everything is run by popularity, and the Drama folk, although really awesome people, aren't well known. Thus their abilities are never appreciated. However, if/when you take your abilities and dedication to a college, and work your brain out just as you have done in high school, people will recognize you more. There is just not a lot of maturity when in comes to high school, but when you go to college you should find more 'grown-up' people. From over here in Nebraska, I admire your efforts from what you have said. If I would have been there, and known how dedicated you are, I would have voted for you.

Popularity is the main course....and it's pretty much taking it's toll on you. If alot of people like someone because of what they pretend to be (half of the popular dudes), then they'll most likely get picked by alot of people. Even though you'd probably be the one best at the job, popularity is really what picks the positions.

That's pretty messed up. As hard as you worked, you should have gotten a position. I would have voted for you. The same thing happened to me when I ran for Junior Board this year. I was much more qualified, but the other girl got the position. But like Piro said, it's high school. There's bound to be a lot of disappointments and hurt. But it's great that you got invited into your friend's company. Hope you do well.

...It all comes down to how high up you are, how popular you are. Although biased, this is the way almost everyone is from what I have seen, at my high school. If people make fun of me for being an indivdiual, good for them. Vegeta, just grin and bear the abuse and the tearing you feel in your heart, and eventually it will be gone and you will be appreciated. Never give up always try 500%...At my school, I'm pretty much a loser. I have less than a handfull of friends and no one ever talks to me, if ever. I've learned to accept it knowing that someday things will be different, and people will notice me for the nice, loving, compassionate person I truely am. That is what has kept me from losing my focus upon what is true and what is trivial. Just see what I have seen and everything will mean something.

Woh, Wrist Cutter, that was really low. I'm not going to yell at you...but you need to understand EVERYONE HAS PROBLEMS. I mean I can see one that you have by your name on OB. So if you want to keep at this, go ahead, because looking down on someone for their problems is very biased.

Um... ... chill?

Does your drama class an actual class, or just some extracurricular event? Either way, if you've been with it all through high school, then I think you should've gotten what you wanted.

And that sucks, with all those freshies taking over... *low whistle*
