OK, I lied, but please read. L'Arc~en~Ciel is my favorite band and were (currently on hiatus) very popular in Japan... and yet not here for obvious reasons. But since most of you here are "otaku" I figured you'd be a bit more open to sampling some of their music which I have provided below...

Anyway... I could go on about how great, each of them individually, they are, but nobody wants to read that so I'll skip right to the point. I really want you all to listen to their music, at least try them... so below are their singles in mp3 format ready for download... they are not full quality however. This provides easy downloads for those on slower modems... but the quality is still VERY listenable. So please... try three songs... maybe even more than once... it's all I ask.

Songs I have for download here -
Floods of tears - Dark, gloomy song with sad overtones.
nemuri ni yosete - Serene verses and more energetic choruses... pop-rock style.
Blurry Eyes - Upbeat pop-rock song that is a "classic" Laruku song.
and She Said - Hard to describe, but a faster song that's fun.
Vivid Colors - Another pop-rock tune with sad lyrics despite a fairly happy melody...
kaze ni kienaide ("True" mix) - Very upbeat, popish song with a very happy tune.
flower - Absolutely beautiful, emotional song.
Lies and Truth ("True" mix) - A song featuring lots of strings and an upbeat melody.
the Fourth Avenue Cafe - This one is fast, fun, and uses lots of horns. Was an ending theme to "rurouni kenshin".
niji (Album Version) - Dramatic rock song with good vocals by Hyde.
winter fall - Smooth, fast, upbeat track with a winter feel (even though the video was shot in a desert).
DIVE TO BLUE - Hugely popular pop-rock song that is very lighthearted.
HONEY - Very catchy tune over dominant guitars. Prepare to have this one stuck in your head.
kasou - A serious song... with a slightly dark feel.
shinshoku~lose control~ - Chaotic rock song with shouting and heavy guitars.
snow drop (ray mix) - Powerful vocals over smooth instruments... similar to U2, somewhat.
forbidden lover - A slow but dramatic and powerful song.
HEAVEN'S DRIVE - Great, upbeat chorus and more aggressive, rockish verses. Very popular track.
Pieces (ark mix) - Full-out ballad with a powerful chorus, orchestra, and strong vocals.
Driver's High - Serious, yet fun pop-rock song with amazing melody. My favorite song... ever.
LOVE FLIES - Heavy guitars, but strong melody and still a pop-rock feel.
NEO UNIVERSE - Interesting, soothing track with lots of synthesizer use, and amazing vocal performance from Hyde.
finale - A dark, gloomy yet dramatic song with a prominant chorus that cannot be resisted.
STAY AWAY - A different styled track... still pop-rock and upbeat, but the chorus style is different, but very good for the band.

There you go... all of their singles in easy-to-download mp3 format... when, and if, you listen, don't expect what you have in mind. It seems like so many people are unaware of what pop-rock can sound like and this is it, in my opinion..

So please give them a try. I've already made a few fans out of people here, so you should give them a try too... if you want to know more, you can go to my L'Arc~en~Ciel fansite, fragment of memory.

Thank you for reading :)

w00t! High Five! Thats me favorite song. The only english words in that song are "into vivid colors" lol. You should hear the lead singer sing in English. He's pretty good but it's still funny. Esspecially is it's a WHAM! song lol.

RARUKU! You take up alllll the server space... need... to... take... down.... move.... m... p... 3....s.....

wristcutter: did you put the titles of your favorites in caps, or is that just random?

i'm trying to figure out which ones to try, since i have the slowest computer in the world. though i will take your advice, transtic.

this will be my first time hearing japanese music, btw. i've been meaning to, but... (see above). yes, i suck.

The caps have nothing really to do with my favorites... it's sort of a Japanese music thing I guess... titles are done in a certain way, all caps, all lowercase, some caps, etc.... it's weird.

Anyway... well, I would say it depends on your tastes which is why I included the descriptions... if you're looking for a more upbeat song, try "Driver's High" or "Vivid Colors"... if you want a darker, more rock-ish song, you could try "shinshoku". If you want dark, depressing music, "Floods of tears" or "finale"... and for powerful, slower music, either "flower" or "forbidden lover". It's really hard for me to just pick a few, I really love all of their music ^_^;

Maybe that will help you pick which ones to try first... as I said, I reduced the sound quality of the songs so they are smaller size, hopefully that will make it easier for you to listen to them.

I don't understand what they're saying and I still like it...Where does this fasination with lyrics come from all of the sudden? Why do people care if you can't or can't understand anything they say? You can't understand anything thats in English now-a-days. And there's this focus on lyrics all the sudden when you hear foreign music. This was never heard in AMerican music. You can't care about lyrics to American music. If there was a really bad written song with GREAT lyrics, you wouldn't like it. You don't need lyrics to understand songs. Thats why MUSIC is instrumental, not lyrical. That would be singing.

So true.

What ever happened to music being the "universal language"?

On any note, I adore L'Arc~en~Ciel. Such an amount of talent compiled into four men. If I had to pick a favorite single, I would probably say "NEO UNIVERSE". hyde's vocals make me shiver. So do his looks, but what can I say...
