Jesus Chicken
The latest Chili Peppers album, I have heard very mixed reviews. I know it's nothing on Blood Sugar Sex Magik, easily their best. Yeah, I really like By The Way, I think they are definatly still going strong. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks of this album. Personally, I think it's great, anyway. What about you?
Kinetic
I haven't heard the album, but I definately like the song "By The Way". I was wondering when they were going to make another album, if they were, and here they are :)
Queen Asuka
I like most of the songs I've heard on the album. My Ryan really likes it and he plays it for me some time. It's really pretty and mellowed out. I like that sort of stuff...
Mist
My dad is a huge fan of the Red Hot Chili Pepperes, so he's naturally listening to them every opprotunity he gets. I like the new CD, but I agree with whoever said it doesn't quite compare with some of their previous albums.
Queen Asuka
Usually no bands albums can top their first album. Like Godsmack for example: Their first album is just absolutley great, but the second album is only mediocre.
Mist
That and the Goo Goo Dolls. Their first ice-breaking album," Dizzy Up the Girl", was fantastic! But thier recent "Gutterflower" is good, but it can't ewven hold a candle next to it's predecessor.
Guest Morph
I am so SICK of hearing this song on the radio... Ugh, I hate it now, the first 20 times was ok and it was good, but then it kept going... @_@ I haven't heard the rest of the CD thou... I should do that sometime this week... Hmm
Queen Asuka
Maybe that's one of the reasons why I love it so much. Because I never hear it. And because it reminds me of my Ryan. I don't KNOW! I just know that I like it...and it's so pretty. And the rest of the album is great, so don't be quick to judge by the overplayingness of one song.
Juu
By the way's okay... hmm... I don't know too much about the Red hot chili peppers... but... I like some of their songs... I haven't heard alot of them... *eyes asuka oddly* So... when will we get to see this Ryan's picture? or.. have you already posted it?
Semjaza
Blood Sex Sugar Magick was far from being RHCP's first album. I honestly wasn't that into their sound before that LP was released though. It didn't have that standard theme where all of their songs HAVE to rhyme like it does now. Sometimes I think I'm the only one that loved One Hot Minute.
Queen Asuka
I WILL POST HIS PICTURE AS SOON AS I GET A DECENT ONE BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE OUR PROM PICTURE! But since you have asked, I will definately make it a point now. My favorite song by them is really old, the "Give it Away" song and everything. I don't know WHAT album that is on. I also like their remake of "Love Rollercoaster".
treton_noir
hey, this album is amazing. jon frusciante's playing has evolved to such an amazing level. he has matured as a peron and as a musician. i am very proud to say that he is off heroine. his style has changed a lot. he has moved from the impromptu, jammy sound( that was a chili peppers' signature sound for so long) and moved into (among other things) full on chord progressions. this is a completely different direction for him and his band. he actually sat down and wrote out arrangements for the new album. anthony keidis' vocal talent continues in the traditional chili pepper's style. what an amazing singer. chad smith and flea always make the best rythem team. what else can i say? they just keep getting better. oh yeah, bye the way( pun intended), in case any of you were wondering who this ryan cat is... its me. just ask QA. Jesus Chicken
Yeah, Blood Sugar Sex Magik is most definatly not their first album. It's great to see that he has John has come along way, but I love the "twangy feel" that they used in so many great songs, like Funky Monks and Mellowship Slinky in B Major, love that song. No you aren't the only one who liked One Hot Minute, that has some brilliant songs on it. Umm Give it Away is on Blood Sugar Sex Magik and I think Love Rollercoaster is one One Hot Minute. Awake is a good 10x better than their first one... *nods* I respect RHCP and all, but I'm also sick of hearing "By The Way" playing on my four favorite stations at once. I hated it when I first heard it, then I loved it, but now I just hate it again... Ah, the constant changing of moods... *sighs* --Mike
The Harlequin
I like By The Way, but I will never forgive RHCP for that goddamn Spanish sounding song. Cabrone or whatever it is. It's just not right. Overall though, the damn overplaying has made By The Way an inferior album to some of the earlier ones. That and the fact that Aeroplane isn't on there....
Char!
And By The Way was never really a good song in the first place... It's just the same beats and words playing over and over again. Now that I think about it, it's pretty sick. --Mike
Semjaza
Love Rollercoaster was actually made for the Beavis and Butthead Movie soundtrack. Not sure if it was on another CD, but it's not on One Hot Minute :). One Hot Minute had Aeroplane, My Friends and a few other singles on it. I liked the other songs on the CD more personally. I liked that song Coffee Shop most (I think that was the name anyway heh). I don't even listen to the radio, so luckily these songs aren't that played out for me :). Char!
Ignorance it bliss, huh? But if I didn't listen to the radio I probably never would've heard By The Way in the first place. Hell, I never would've even heard of RHCP... *ducks & hides* --Mike
