Anyone watch/participate in street racing? Both legal and illegal? This weekend I'm going with my friend, and hopefully we'll take my g/f along too cuz' she want's to go and we're gonna' go 50 miles out of town and watch import drag at a public track. Then after the track closes we're gonna' go watch illegal drag at night time on the public roadways. I'm gonna' take a video camera so hopefully I'll get some good footage.

Erm, you realise that police storm the streets after races, and if you're caught as a witness they wont let you know until you've told what you now, so what your back.
Also, the closest I've got to illegal street racing is 'The Fast and Furious', very good film...
Anyway, becareful because sometimes those cars go out of control and also it'll be a very good experience, enjoy it.

Illegal street racing? I'd like to see some illegal street racing, but the chance of seeing it here would be like Tom Cruise becoming the next Pope.

Anyway, if it happened here, I wouldn't like to risk my chances seeing it. Though it still sounds nice....

There's always some type of illegal street racing on my block...it's really annoying hearing the buzzing noises of cars in high engine speeds. It's not all that exciting either since they're just your typical Civic or MR2. But on occasion my neighbors with one Rx-7 and another with a 3000GT go at it so it's kinda fun to see such extreme cars following each other around a block at high speeds at night.

If I get the car that I want, I'll be getting a '93 Ford Mustang. Unfortunately, this particular vehicle has only a 4-cly. engine in it, but I plan to take that out and drop in a Boss 5.0 ASAP.

After I drop in the 5.0 and take the smog control and catalytic converters off, I might install NOS. But considering that the cheapest tank for the NOS I can find is $100, and filling it up would be $700, I doubt I will.

I've never been to a legal race before, because cars running in circles don't interest me. However, I've seen and been in many skirmishes on the street between two or more people, just testing out their cars.

As a matter of fact, I was riding around with my friend in his Honda Civic the other day and he challenged the guy in a new Mustang to race him...bad move, lol. My friend got about two feet ahead before the guy in the 'Stang shifted to 3rd gear and literally roared past us, lol.

Real men don't zoop up moma's Honda.

I'm thinking of participating in it too. My friend who lives in california street races alot. He owns a 96' Metallic blue ford Mustang. To date he has beaten 9 Camaros, a stupid little civic, and he's only lost one race..... To a V-12 Lamborghini Diablo :D...

I'm thinking of getting a car and souping it up a little and taking it racing I just don't know what kind I want.

Ive been to a few. But recently the cops have cracked down big time. Its kinda stupid too. Some teenage girl gets killed in car wreck that had nothing to do with street racing what so ever.

I do like to watch an maybe one day participate. But I highly oppose these idiots who want to be like Vin Deisel who drive down the neighbor hood street flying and swerving just trying to be cool. They are the dangerous ones. The "Professional" street racers, if you want to call them that, only do it in a safe enviroment where the only dangers is the danger to themselves. Im not trying to jusitfy it. But if done properly with respect to innocent people who are just trying to live their lives...it can be done safely without incident.

The closest thing I have been to was racing friends down the streets around. . Franklin O.o riiiight!

No, really, we had some serious races. Flying down VERY windy roads, trying to race around cars before oncoming cars slam into you . . *shudders* We have had our share of close calls, but luckily, no one has ever wrecked or been pulled over while doing these things. We would probably get totally screwed in fines, I am sure.

I have seen a few street races on home video. Some were really good, and I remember watching one where some guy totally lost it and slammed a beautiful car into some other parked car. OUCH!

I don't think I will ever get that type of car where I would be racing it. I don't ever think I would have the knowledge to be able to work on cars like that =) Just no knowledge. . though I suppose I could learn if I wanted. Oh well, I think I would settle for a very sweet Cadillac ^_^

My cousin sreet races,he lives in Chicago, he got in a brutal accident which almost paralyzed his arm and his leg, his leg is better now but he still can't move his arm. He's getting better. It was a civic, he crashed it in to a poll. Now he has a Nissan Sylvia 240x. It's very sad but he still races. We don't really have any racing down where I live in Ontario the best thing we have to street races is little remote control cars.

*In Best Ben Stein Voice* How exciting.

A friend of mine was recently hit and nearly killed by a Corvette and a Porche racing around our neighborhood. He is recovering quite well. They still race around here. They are such idiots. I think his parents should press charges but I guess they aren't.

The funny thing here children is, the 'illegal street racing' in the Fast and The Furious, was infact, legal. *dramatic music plays*

Sheesh, they might as well have been in electric wheelchairs, as opposed to the 'souped up cars' they were driving. The fire department, Ambulance, SES (or whatever you have over there) would have been literally metres away in case something went wrong.

Now, I'm not saying you people don't know that. BUT I am saying little hoons would have saw that movie and said 'Gee, well they did all that stuff, and they're still ok. I know! Lets go down the range on the Toowoomba to Brisbane H/way at a 150kmph and cause a three car pile up and an old woman to be partially incinerated!

God people are so THICK

Ehe...street racing would be fun. I think I need to uncover somewhere that there is street racing in LA so that I can go and watch.

I like to pretend that my car goes fast, but my ZX5 Focus isn't too speedy. My dad and I installed a few new things that gives it some more horsepower, but I wish it was faster! If it were a manual transmission, then that would be awesome...[Jenna continues to rave about her car, which is totally irrelevant to the topic of street racing]...
