Iitashi walked in late, he had heard everything through his headset.

Iitashi: "I'll be on the team to find the base. How much resistance are we going to be facing?"

Adam shook his head.

Siren: I prefer to be on the team after the missing squad... Infiltration is my forte and it'll be a waste of my skills to dodge flunkies wandering about the desert...

She crossed her arms...

Siren: Unless someone has something to keep me occupied while looking for it... I might just pull a Liam and blow the place sky high...

A shadow passed over her face...

Siren: Except I have minimal knowledge of explosives...

She sighed and glanced at Rae...

Siren: You?re the logical mind... Assign me...

Rae thought for a moment. "Okay." She pulled her piece of paper out again. She wrote "Base" on four pieces of paper, and "Squad" on another four, then tipped them all into Adam's cardboard box. She pulled out a piece of paper and stared at it.

"Looks like you're with me, Siren."

Liam looked at Niomi, then at Siren, then at Rae, finally he set his gaze on Adam.

?Ok Adam, what gender is the agent we?re rescuing?? Liam waited while Adam went through his notes.

?Here it is!? Adam exclaimed, ?well funny you should ask, because the only thing we?ve got on her is her gender, her files haven?t come through yet. If you haven?t guessed yet Liam, she?s female.?

Liam rolled his eyes, ?thankyou Captain Obvious. Ok, Niomi,? he said while writing her name on the sheet, ?You?re going to be attacking the base, I want at least some form of gender balance here. Oi! Andrew! You?re with me, got a problem with that??

Andrew was silent

?Good then.? Liam wrote his name up on the sheet and wrote everyone else?s in the ?Base? column. ?Right, ok, it looks like we?re all done here. When do we leave??

The Commander was silent for a while, rather speechless to be exact. ?Whenever you?re ready I uh...guess.?

Liam rolled his eyes, ?Well I am...? he looked down at his clothes, orange shirt, black board shorts and skate shoes, not exactly staple desert gear. ?Maybe not...wait a sec.? Liam exited the room and came back a few minutes later dressed in desert fatigues and camouflaged padded vest. He sat down on the table amid looks of surprise.

?Now I?m ready.? He said.

Commander: "Alright, if that?s all you can go. Meet us in half an hour at the military airfield. Don?t be late, otherwise you're out. Got it, any further questions?"

Ryan: "Yeah. Don?t you think we might need a little more firepower than our pistols to storm an entire base?"

Commander: "Were not stupid Ryan, everyone will be issued another weapon for this mission when we get to the airport."

The agents leave the room and Ryan heads straight to his room. The airfield was twenty minutes away, so he would have to hurry. He changed into a pair of desert combat fatigues and tucked his pistol into his waistband. He walked over to the closet of his room and pulled open the sliding door. Reaching through the clothes he opened a safe and extracted a tan backpack. He put on the light pack and jogged down the hall towards his car.

Ryan hopped into his black suburban and drove towards the airfield at eighty kmph. He didn?t care he was twenty km over the speed limit; he liked it when cops pulled him over and he got to show them his special license. They were always so shocked?

He drove through the security checkpoint at the airfield and parked next to the airstrip. The Commander and three agents were already there. He walked up to them and held out his hands expectantly.

Commander: "Fine, you can have it. But don?t wreck it before the mission."

The commander reaches into one co the open cargo crates that surround the nearby plane and extracts a sniper rifle. He reluctantly hand it to Ryan?

Raellyra walked to her room, and desert fatigues. Looking through her stuff, she found what she needed. A hair tie. She plaited her hair, tying it with two hair ties. It'd probably seem stupid to someone who didn't know her, but she hated having her hair down. On missions, it was even worse.

She pulled out a small bag. This she took to every mission. Rae opened the bag and tipped it upside down, inspecting the contents. Hair ties, liniment for stiff muscles, suncream, sunglasses, water, a change of clothes (sucked into a very small ball), a portion of food, pen, paper, ammo, and a camera hidden in one of the pens. And, of course, her headset , which she turned back on, and gun, which she reloaded. Stuffing the items back into the back, she pulled it on, grabbed her car keys, and left the room.

Jogging out of the HQ, she made her way to the carpark, where she jumped into her Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, grateful that she had her own. If she'd had to wait, or if she'd had to have been earlier, it would have disrupted things. Thinking for a moment, Rae smiled, got out of the car, and opened up the engine. Grabbing a piece of insulated wire, she hotwired the car. It was good to stay in shape.

Getting back into the car, she revved the engine and screamed out of there, glad that she got this chance to let her hair down before leaving.

Reaching the airport, she noticed Ryan there, seemingly stroking a gun. Her lips twitched. Rae didn't really appreciate guns. She used them to shoot people, not to be the best marksman, or to praise the quality of the gun. As long as it aimed, and shot, it was fine for her.She remembered something Matt had told her when they were younger. "A gun is like a car. It has to look good, not just work well." Rae appreciated cars, and she loved making them purr as she sped along the road, but guns, she just didn't get.

Climbing out of the car, she walked up to the Commander and held out her arms. "Ah, yes. Raellyra. Adam put in a special request for you, and, as it was needed anyway, here you go." The commander reached in and handed one gun to her. She smiled,it was a Steyr Scout Sniper Rifle . Then he reached in again, and Rae smiled in delight. They'd gotten her a Flamethrower.

Ryan watched as one by one the other agents arrived.

He was very, very pleased to finally get his hands on this sniper rifle. Ryan had been obsessed with Sniper rifles since third grade, and had always wanted his own. Now at last he had it.

He noticed Rae's look of distaste as he stroked the rifle as one would a pet. He didn't care. He had it, it was his and that was all that mattered to him at the moment.

His precious seconds of bliss were cut short by Liam's arrival, who was the last to show up. Once Liam had reached the group the commander showed the drop zone and where they would be going. He decided to let them finalize who was going on what part of the mission en route.

Then the agents boarded the cargo jet and strapped in for what was going to be a long flight...

Liam pulled up at the airport, indulging in a power slide to the parallel parking space. He kicked open the car door, and walking around to the boot. He opened it and pulled out his camouflaged pack and what appeared to be a large assault rifle. As he walked closer to the group, his finger automatically slipped onto the trigger.

Adam looked annoyed, ?Look Liam, the government forks out all this money to buy you a weapon, and what do you do? Bring your own. What is it by the way??

Liam grinned, ?Tell me the one provided first?

Adam gritted his teeth, ?All right. It?s a FN P90, something I was sure you?d like.?

Liam laughed, ?P90? Seriously Adam, I thought you knew me better? I prefer rifles because of the range and accuracy, not submachine guns, not to mention extremely slow loading sub machine guns.?

Adam was speechless.

?Anyhow, my part of the deal.? Liam raised the rifle, ?It?s a Sig G552 Commando, and don?t worry, I have plenty of ammunition and a couple of flashbangs to boot. Now if you?ll excuse me, I?m going on this damn Hercules to get this over with.?

Craig suddenly sped in on his Kawasaki Ninja, skidding t a perfect stop only 2 inches from Liam's feet. Liam didn't even flinch, as Craig climbed off the bike, and tapped the bike twice, respecting Liam's nerve. Craig walked over to the crate that conatined the weapons, and he gazed about inside.

Adam: Okay Craig, we've got you a--

Craig: ...I want the Remington.

Adam: That's what we got you anyway.

Craig reached into the crate and pulled out a Remington M-1100 12 gaunge army assault shotgun. A smile spread across his face, he loved guns that packed a punch, just like his magnum, and this gun certainly did.

Adam: You gun is light-equipped Craig, handy if you get stuck in the dark.

Craig: I can shoot anything that moves, doesn't have to be daytime.

Commander: Yes Craig, we're very aware of your marksmanship skills, and how close you are to Liam's record.

Craig glanced over at Liam, who cocked a smile and shrugged.

Craig: ...With respect commander, the target range is quite different to real field excersice.

Ryan was sitting in a chair on the left corner of the small passenger compartment in the military cargo jet when Liam and Craig walked in.

Ryan looked up and saw that they had chosen the same guns that they had used before. It was all in their files. Their preferences, life stories, mission history, you name it. Sometimes it scared him to think that another person could know so much about him through his file. But that was part of the job...

The plane lumbered down the long runway and took of into the afternoon sky, leaving the agents to their own devices. Ryan looked around the room.

It was arranged like a lounge, with U-shaped couches for conversation and planning. On the right wall were a fridge, a weapons rack, and a box of parachutes.

Ryan reached his hand down to his backpack and dug through it until he pulled out a foil wrapped object...

Siren got up and stuck her head into the fridge...

Siren: Ah... The little bugger diden't put any food in here!

She rummages around looking for somthing editable... She bursts out laughing and pulls out six carrots...

Siren: What does he think we are?! Rabbits?

She shakes her head and shuts the doors, heading back to her seat... She flops into it and sighs picking up a book... She glances around, looking for entertainment...Siren grumbles and returns to reading her book...

Siren(muttering): Lousy, boring people...

Liam wandered around the lounge, peering out the windows and at the landscape rapidly vanishing below. He sighed. This was going to be long and boring, unless...

Liam walked over to his pack and unzipped the centre, pulling out a flat, black laptop. He walked back to his seat and booted it up, scanning the hardrive for something of interest. Then he remembered the mobile phone. He smirked and plugged it into the internal modem, dialling up to the server back at his house.

Craig glanced over at Liam and raised an eyebrow. Liam grinned and said, ?Computer espionage, it?s what I do, I can?t exactly hack into a computer unless of course I bring a safe harbour with me can I??

Craig rolled his eyes, ?That?s the most pathetic excuse I?ve ever heard, you know that??

Liam grinned again, ?Well it is good practice, when the satellite passes over the base, I can get an infrared, x-ray and full colour photo scan of the base. I upload all this data to a modified Counter-strike map builder, and tadaa! You have a map of the place we?re about to blow up. These maps become extremely useful during a LAN party I can tell you, I know them inside and out in real life, and everyone complains how hard they are.? Liam chuckled again and started trawling through the internet.

Ryan unwrapped thee foil and pulled out a rag and various miniature tools.

He began disassembling his rifle, piece by piece. Once he had the whole thing disabled he began to fine tune it, making sure each component fit seamlessly with the others and was in perfect condition. He replaced the sight with one of his own and attached the laser dot targeter right below it. He didn't really need it, but he would take whatever edge he could.

Once his rifle was back together he got out of his seat and walked over to Siren.

Ryan: "How about a carrot?"

Siren: "Fine. Eat the rabbit food. But only one carrot. After all we wouldn't want you turning into a rabbit right before the mission now, would we?"

Ryan: "Ha Ha, very funny. Now just give me the carrot."

Siren hands him the carrot, and he walks back to his seat...

Liam browsed, looking for something to do, when a box popped up with a resonating beep. The satellite was in position. He smirked, teeth showing. The main image blinked onto the screen, a full colour daylight image appeared, revealing a massive camouflaged compound. Liam whistled and zoomed in, noting the machine gun turrets and tank in the courtyard. Infrared revealed there to be thirty plus people below ground holding cold objects. He switched to the X-ray filter and the cold objects glowed, taking the shape of metal weapons. He grinned, noting the underground generator and computer terminal.

Liam brought up the options menu and transferred the information to the modified Counter-strike map builder. A percentage bar popped up, revealing it?d take seven hours to load up the information and convert it. He sighed, pity ADSL wasn?t as versatile as the old 56k. He put the laptop down on the couch and wandered off to look around the aircraft.

He wandered down into the cargo bay, flicking on the lights and investigation the hummers below. He checked his watch. Twenty-two hours left in the non-stop flight. Insane, totally insane. He checked out the closest hummer. Open, anti-aircraft gun and anti-personnel machine gun at the front, he raised an eyebrow, the government was serious for once. He wandered around, doing a routine check on the parachutes and otherwise for the vehicles before climbing back up the ladder into the lounge.

Iitashi was bored out of his mind. He decided to get out his PDA and check if any of his friends were online. He opened up his messenger and saw that none of his buddies were on. Then, when he was about to turn it off, Eriko312 signed on.

Eriko312: "Hi honey."

Iitashi A.I.: "Mom? I didn't expect to see you on here, are you feeling any better?"

Eriko312: "Yeah, a little better. Not enough to get out of the hospital yet though. Anyways, I just wanted to wish you good luck on your big day, I can't believe you're already on your first mission!"

Iitashi A.I.: "Yeah, I'm pretty excited as well. I hope I do well."

Eriko312: "Don't worry, I know you will. Oops! I've got to go son, the doctor is here."

Iitashi A.I: "Alright mom, bye."

Iitashi logged off after his mom and shut down his PDA.

Iitashi: "Now what am I going to do?" He thought.

Rae was slouched in her chair, not moving. One word was repeating over and over in her mind. Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored. Iitashi, who had been on the computor, stared at her as she did what she called "Spontaneous Convulsing." Jerking around, arms flailng, letting out shouts. It only happened every so often, and usually only out of boredom, or sitting in one place too long. And in betweeen, Rae sat and stared at the wall, occasionally reminding herself to breathe. Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored.

Ryan chewed on the carrot, humming and occasionally looking down at his watch. It was going to be a long flight...

He got up from his seat and left the room, heading for the cargo bay. Liam had been their first, and would have told them if anything seemed wrong, but he was going down there for a different reason.

Ryan walked across the cold metal floor of the cargo bay to the very center, where the Humvee's sat. They looked small alone in a bay that could have held twenty of them.

He checked out the anti personnel machine gun in the front of the closest hummer. It wasn't loaded, of course. The government had this thing with loaded weapons in airplanes. Afraid some moron was going to bring the whole plane down.

He climbed into the hummer and crawled to the back seat, where the ammo would be. Taking two boxes of the machine gun ammo he made his way back to the front of the hummer and loaded the machine gun. No point in landing in hostile territory with an unloaded weapon...

He went over to the second hummer and repeated the process. Once he was done he headed back to the lounge. He was really getting bored; perhaps he should get some sleep...

Siren raised an eyebrow in Rae's direction... She shook her head... Rae was taking over her act! Siren noticed as Ryan came back up to the main section of the plane... Sighing, She curled up in her seat and began to sleep... Thoughts drifted as she slipped silently into dream... Her last thought was hoping that noone would make too much noise...

OOC: Unless someone has somthing in mind to post for this time I suggest that we fast-foreward this little trip of ours... I'm beginning to post really crap quality in here...

20 HOURS LATER

Liam scrolled through the full colour map before him. He edited out any discrepancies before loading it into the game and playing it. twenty minutes later, he found his simulated team dead and himself on less than a quarter of his health. The game ended and he sat pondering the predicament. Anti personnel machine guns, bullet proof booths housing them, landmines surrounding the area, at least the satellite could tell him where they were...

He sighed and furrowed his brow, deep in thought. Rae wandered over to see what he was doing,

?What?s the matter?? she asked.

Liam remained silent.

Slightly annoyed, Rae pressed on, ?I can tell there?s something wrong, there?s no denying it, so tell me.?

Liam heaved a sigh. ?The problem is that there is no possible way of safely entering this base. Look here,? he jabbed a finger at a camouflaged tank. ?An extremely large tank, a world war two to be precise, Sherman class.?

Rae snorted, ?So what? That thing is ancient, besides, there?s no way they?d be able to get ammunition for it.?

Liam remained grave. ?It?s one of the modified Sherman tanks, flamethrower variety. That thing could shoot a white hot fire ball up to fifteen metres away, and that was just with world war two technology. Just think what damage it could do today!?

?Well I guess we?re just going to have to do something about it then won?t we? I mean it?s not all that hard to blow up a tank is it??

?You have no idea how wrong you are.?

ETA: 15 MINUTES

Liam checked his Kevlar vest and equipment. The group had already split up into the two teams. The rescue team was jumping first, along with their hummer. Sparks of adrenaline ran through the team. This is what they were trained for, and they seemed to be ready, but there where signs of apprehension. Liam checked his parachute straps and wandered over to his huddled team.

?Alright, lets get this going eh?? Liam smirked at the three. They didn?t respond. He rolled his eyes. ?Someone please tell me you guys have done this before. There?s nothing to it, all you do is jump out of the plane when that light turns red, wait until that gauge is right and pull the string!? Still no response and the light was already amber. ?Bloody hell, just jump already or I?m going to bust a cap in all your asses, you hear me?? No response and the cargo hatches were opening, the rescue hummer was already about to be dropped.

Liam cussed and ran out the cargo bay the instant the light flashed red. He checked the gauge. Almost there...the hummer plummeted past and all four of it?s parachutes were released. Liam pulled his string and noticed the other three of his team floating along beside him.

?Awesome rush isn?t it?? he exclaimed. Siren laughed, Rae rolled her eyes and Andrew pulled out his binoculars saying,

?The tracker signal came from that dune over there, we should get moving as soon as possible, bury the parachutes, that kind of thing.?

Liam nodded and glanced in the general direction before cutting his strings loose and landing with a dull thump on the sand. He wandered over to the hummer, pulling off the parachutes and cutting it out of it?s cage.

Two klicks away the second team were dropped.

Rae followed Liam's actions, accepting that she honestly had no idea what they were doing. She checked for her guns and daggers. They were there. Good. If she was going into a mission without them, her daggers, she'd feel a lot more vulnerable. And, she remembered, she'd put in her grandfather's knife, just for enemies.

And the flamethrower. Rae smiled as a thought flashed into her mind. Fun times She realised she'd said it out loud when Siren looked at her.

"When?"

"Wha...?"

"When were the fun times?"

"Oh. Never mind. I was talking to myself."

"First sign of madness, that is."

"Then why aren't you muttering?"

Siren glared and turned around, muttering to herself. Rae fought back a laugh. It was all good. This mission might be hard, in fact, would definately be hard, but they could deal with it. Or, Rae thought, in a strangely euphoric mood, they'd die.

Ryan had landed right next to the second drop team's hummer and was almost finished burying his parachute when Craig walked up and began to detach the hummer's parachutes.

Ryan: "Bout time you showed up. Where is the rest of our team?"

Craig: "There coming... Come here and help me with this age will you?"

Ryan: "Sure."

Ryan kicked a small pile of sand over the last corner of his parachute and pulled out his fighting knife, which he used to cut the remaining parachute off of the cage which held their hummer.

Once the parachute was off Craig buried it while Ryan removed the cage.

Ryan: "What do we do with the transport cage when were done with it, its not like we can bury it..."

Craig: "Don't look mat me, call Liam."

Ryan puts on his headset and tries to reach Liam...
