Best Zelda Game of All Time?

I must say that I do like Link's Awakening, simply because it is the only one I have gotten furthest on, lol. Not only that, but it was the first Zelda game I had played and I just fell in love with it.

Another would be Ocarina of Time, even though I'm totally useless at it, the story and visuals are breathtaking. For a console like the N64 to have a game that big and with so many beautiful graphics in it was amazing for its time.

And last, but definately not least, I choose Majora's Mask. First, let me say that I adore games that have interaction with the people in it, so Majora's Mask was my type of game. I love collecting all of the masks and helping out people with the Bomber's Notebook. The dungeons are also so much easier than OoT's, but still are hard enough to give a challenge.

Well, I've got a new favorite Zelda game. Yes, it managed to top A Link to the Past. What is it, you ask? A Link to the Past / Four Swords!

The remake of LTP is exactly the same as the original, except for a few improvements. The only thing I don't like about it are the voices that they added, but I got used to those pretty quickly. Plus, it's portable, so I can take it with me.

Now, just the remake of LTP by itself would've topped the original LTP, but not only does it have the remake of LTP, it also has Four Swords! A whole other multi-player game on the same cartridge! It's like getting two games in one!

Now, admittedly, Four Swords is multi-player only, so you can't play it by yourself. But, when you do get to play it with other people, it's tons of fun. I haven't played it a whole lot, but what I did play, even with only one other person, I loved every second of it. I can't even imagine what it's like with four people.

So, yeah, I've got a new absolute favorite game. Funny how the only thing that could top LTP was a remake of LTP with another Zelda game on the same cartridge, heh. I'm just loving this game so dang much! I've only been playing it for about 4 days, and I've already done everything in LTP except beat Ganon. (Planning on saving that for later). And I can't wait to play Four Swords some more!

tough decision....link to the past was the first one I played, so it will always have a softspot in my heart for it, and the gba remake is more fun (multiplayer woohoo)

MM is cool, all the effects of the different masks is something to see. the only downside to it is having to warp back to permanently save your game, and just the long chains of events that you have to repeat is something of a pain.

Oot is the other good one, you actually get to see link all grown up, heh.

I guess I'm not too much help either, most of the games have upsides and downsides to them.

I would have to say Ocarina Of Time, because it's the first 3D Zelda game and it brought a new life to an already amazing game series.
The story was deep and kept me interested from begining to end, and it was one of the few games that I found it hard to stop playing once I've started.
I loved the way the game starts of with Hyrule bright and happy, then turning dark and evil when you grow up, and getting to see Link all grown up was cool too.
I also Loved the horse riding, which was only in OOT (or was it? I never got far into MM).
But anyway, yeah, Ocarina Of Time is by far my fav, and probably my fav game of all time.

Ocarina is definitely a favorite of mine, for said reasons. The graphics are gorgeous, the story is great, the play is one of the first games to be improved by 3D graphics rather than hampered by it. One of my first N64 games, too.

The Link to the Past was one of my first SNES games. I was captivated by the music (which was pretty incredible at the time), and the gameplay simply enthralled me. I was hoooked.

Link's Awakening was my very first video game, ever. And I loved it. And I still do. There's just something so satisfying about getting everything...and watching the ending. My first heart-twisting ending. *sighs*

Hands down I'd lke to say that there has never been one bad Zelda game there all my faves. You can pretty much call me a Zelda otaku!

Go look up Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, Link: Faces of Evil, and Zelda's Adventure on the net. I think you'll be in for a little surprise. ;) - Desbreko

[Another first post...]

And one with very little content, lol. :p I don't suppose you could tell a little more about why you like LTP? - Desbreko FINE

I say Link To The Past. Always an old school gamer, always.

This is the first Zelda game which I played, and the first which I beat. I don't know exactly what made it better for me than all the rest, because all of the rest still capture the same magical essence and stuff that made this game good.

Mainly I liked it the most because it was the first one which I had played, and also because it's just..erm...:Glares at 'sko:

'Sko, care to tell me why you...nevermind...:walks away from topic:

Why I like LTP the most? I have a bunch of *cough*real*cough" (:p) reasons why I like it best.

1. First off, there's the sheer size of the game. You've got two overworlds, and 11 dungeons, 12 if you count Hyrule Castle. That's a lot of game to explore, and exploring a huge world is something I really like in a game.

2. The complexity of the dungeons, and just the general layout of them is some of the best in any Zelda game so far. None of the dungeons in LTP get boring for me, even on the second time through the game in two weeks. (Yes, I actually played the remake on the GBA through twice in a row in about two weeks).

3. The enemies; there's just the right amount, and lots of variety. In the original The Legend of Zelda, I thought there were a tad too many enemies. (I think 7-10 for almost every room in a dungeon in a bit much). In OOT and MM, there were way too few, and in the Oracle games, there still weren't really all that many. LA is about the only other game that got this part just right, I think.

4. Then there's the vast amount of items in LTP. I don't think any other Zelda game has the same amount of variety that you get in LTP. You've got 22 useable items, not to mention things that you can put in your Bottles, and your swords and shields. You also don't have to find every item to complete the game, and those that you don't have to get are hidden pretty well, for the most part.

5. The difficulty is, in my opinion, just right. Yes, it's hard the first time through, sometimes even a little frustrating. But, on your second time through, you find it a little less hard, and find yourself wondering why you had so much trouble on that one dungeon, or that one boss. Eventually, though, you can get like me, where you can totally breeze through the game without dying once.

6. This point goes hand in hand with my last one--the sheer fun of playing this game. Even when you can just breeze through the game without dying a single time, it's still fun to play! (Not to mention knowing how to do and where to find absolutely everything). Like I said, I played through the remake on the GBA twice in a row in the space of two weeks, and I had just as much fun the second time as I did the first time I ever played the game.

You're right, though, there is something about this game that you can't quite describe, but it just makes the game a lot of fun to play. Heck, I can just walk around the overworld killing enemies for half an hour, and still have fun.

Hmmm probably Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker. Two of the best games ever created.

Ocarina of Time-I like this game because of the challenges.Took a long time to beat which is great in an RPG.The graphics aren't that great but back then it was probably the best we've ever seen.

Wind Waker-I've played demos and must say this is a great game. The graphics are just so clean and funny looking. The controls in this are grea, just like OoT's.There's those funny looking demon-guys.But I kinda miss the big Link. But I'm happy about N' adding OoT with it.

Really? Because...I heard that it takes place 400 years after OoT, and instead of saving Zelda, you save Link's sister. o.o' Not the same Link, either, just another guy in green who has the same name (and probably the same blood line too). Well, we'll have to wait and see. ^_^

The Wind Waker takes place 100 years after Ocarina of Time, so no, it's not a direct sequal. (I'm assuming that by "direct sequal," you mean that it's the same Link as in OOT, which it isn't). It's another boy named Link, who becomes the Legendary Hero.

And yes, you do resue Link's sister (her name is Aryll, by the way). There hasn't been any mention of anyone named Zelda, though, so far as I know. And as to who's behind the kidnapping of Aryll, and why she was kidnapped, it hasn't been said yet. Barely anything has been said about the story so far, really.

There is already a thread about The Wind Waker, though, so can we keep this thread on the subject of what we think is the best Zelda game?

Ocarina of Time was the first Zelda game I played (it was the first video game I ever played also), and I loved it! Actually, the only two Zelda games I ever played were OOT and MM since I only have a n64. >.<
I almost got MM first, but my mom said the mask on the cover looked freaky and told me to get OOT. ^__^
OOT had all these extra side quests and since I never played video games before, I'd sit in front of my tv screen doing stupid things to get this door open or to get across a room. It was fun, even though it usually gave me a massive headache...
